Only 9 EU countries pay for the other 18 – and the Commission wants to add 10 more?

Which countries pay into the EU and which take out?

On 01 May (2024) the EU Commission celebrated 20 years since its expansion in 2004 to include 10 more member countries. In the following few years they took in three more. All of them have received more than they put in to the EU budget, and have been benefiting ever since.

As a result of Brexit the British people are no longer paying for the bulk of these costs, although thanks to Theresa May’s disastrous ‘Divorce Bill’ they will keep on paying into the EU budget until 2064.

9 EU countries subsidised 18 other member countries. If the UK had still been a member, it would have been the second-highest contributor to this transference of wealth.

In Part III – the 10 new accession countries

In Part III of this series we will look at the 10 countries which the EU Commission has lined up to join its empire. All of them will be net recipients of funding from the small number of richer members. Being relatively poorer they will receive far more than they pay in.

Observations

Without Brexit, the British people would have been paying billions towards this wealth transfer.

We must get reports like this out there

Reports like the one above take far longer to research, write and produce than many people realise. If they were easy, readers would see other organisations also producing these daily. However, there’s little point in the Facts4EU.Org team working long hours, seven days-a-week, if we lack the resources to promote them effectively – to the public, to MPs, and to the media. This is where you come in, dear reader.

Facts4EU.Org needs you today

We are a 'not for profit' team (we make a loss) and any payment goes towards the actual work, not plush London offices, lunch or taxi expenses, or other luxuries of some organisations.
