Exclusive: Keir’s pretext for seizing Henry VIII powers, destroyed in one chart
“What little credibility this Government still had has now been shredded,” says Reform’s Richard Tice

Flagship EU Bill in King’s Speech is based on “most blatant lie ever told” - think-tank’s report.
Government is urged to “start telling the public the truth.”
From Cameron and Osborne’s “The economy will fall off a cliff edge” to
Starmer and Reeves’ “Brexit has caused deep economic damage to the economy.”
The British public have been repeatedly deceived by the Establishment for the last 10 years
but this Government has made it infinitely worse, claims report.
There are moments in a nation’s life when the Government gets caught out in its lies in such a comprehensive and irrefutable way there is nothing they can say. This is one of those moments - and it comes at the worst possible time for the Government. These are the claims made in a report which GB News has been given exclusive sight of.
The summary report contains a breathtaking chart which is likely to cause major problems for the Government. It comes as Sir Keir and his colleagues begin to pave the way for one of their flagship bills said to be in the new King’s Speech, to be laid before Parliament in just a few weeks’ time.

The Brexit Facts4EU think-tank has responded to this in collaboration with the oldest independence group in the country, The Campaign for an Independent Britain (CIBUK), and Stand for Our Sovereignty (SOS, backed by the country's most influential politicians).
The ‘Food and Drink’ Bill allegedly gives Sir Keir additional and wide-ranging ‘Henry VIII powers’ to impose ongoing EU Single Market laws on a raft of different areas affecting the daily lives of the UK’s ordinary citizens and businesses.
Crucially, the Government will be able to do this without needing a parliamentary debate each time.
The EU's laws will be taken onto the UK statute book using what are known as ‘Statutory Instruments’, or S.I.’s. and as such are virtually ‘nodded through’.
The Deputy Leader of Reform UK, Richard Tice MP, speaks exclusively to GB News and Facts4EU
“Sir Keir and friends seem to think if they tell the public a big enough whopper, and repeat it often enough, the public will be fooled. We think people are smarter than that. And now there’s one chart that totally destroys what little credibility this Government still had.
“The whole justification for Labour’s flagship bill in the King’s speech next month has just been blown out of the water by this stunning chart from the Facts4EU think-tank.”
- Richard Tice MP, 15 Apr 2026

“It’s now all-out war,” say UK’s independence groups. “We’ll deploy everything we have in defence of democracy.”
Today’s report from the groups must count as the clearest demonstration yet that the level and intensity of the falsehoods on one important subject increasingly being promoted by members of this Government are on a scale seldom seen – even in the world of politics. The Deputy Leader of Reform UK has responded accordingly, leaving the Government with some tough questions to answer.
From the PM, to the Chancellor, to countless Ministers and backbench MPs - echoed by other parties and notably by Sir Ed Davey and his LibDems - all of them have struck up a chorus of definitive statements that Brexit has caused ‘deep damage’ to the United Kingdom’s economy.
These statements have all been aimed at one thing, claims the report: to deceive the British public ahead of inexorably dragging the country back into the orbit of the EU under the guise of the ‘EU Re-Set’.
When a picture paints 1,000 words…
Today we present one chart to the readers of GB News which says it all, and it’s this one:
One out of the six economies on this chart experienced Brexit
(But you would never guess which one, without the labels)

This ‘at-a-glance’ chart for non-economists proves the Government has lied to the public
The point of the chart, says the report from Facts4EU, is to show to people with no knowledge of economics that the UK has not suffered any damage from Brexit. This is obvious by comparing the UK with the EU’s Top 5 economies over the last 10 years.
Each country’s line follows broadly the same pattern. They show unequivocally that since the British public voted to leave the EU in 2016, there is no “deep damage” that is visible in the performance of the UK economy, compared to the EU’s Top 5. In fact, there’s no damage, deep or otherwise, apart from the Covid period.
Out of the six economies, the UK is currently the second-largest, behind Germany and marginally ahead of France. The data comes directly from the OECD – an organisation trusted and quoted often by Rejoiners – and is expressed in US dollars and adjusted for inflation.
GB News asked Richard Tice MP for his views after seeing the above chart, and he responded exclusively to us
“Let's face it, you don't have to work at the Bank of England to see there's been no 'deep damage to our economy' due to Brexit.
“This is nothing other than yet one more betrayal from this Government of the democratic decision of the British people. If they go ahead regardless of this proof to the contrary, we'll reverse it. Pure and simple. That's what you'll get from a Reform UK government: Decisions made in the interests of the people, not decisions made on ideological grounds.”
- Richard Tice MP, 15 Apr 2026

The COVID dip and bounce
All six economies suffered a dip because of COVID, and all have recovered from their pre-pandemic levels to a greater or lesser extent.
The UK’s economy has grown by 5.5% in real terms since 2019, whereas the EU’s largest economy, Germany, has only moved marginally upwards by 0.3%.
The full extent of the Government’s lies
In recent weeks the rhetoric against Brexit and for an ever-closer alignment with the EU - all wrapped in the language of an ‘EU Re-Set’ - has increased considerably. It must be remembered that the Government was elected on a clear manifesto of the full acceptance of Brexit.
The Manifesto on which Labour was elected, June 2024
There were just two paragraphs about the economics of Brexit:-
“With Labour, Britain will stay outside of the EU. But to seize the opportunities ahead, we must make Brexit work. We will reset the relationship and seek to deepen ties with our European friends, neighbours and allies. That does not mean reopening the divisions of the past. There will be no return to the single market, the customs union, or freedom of movement.
“Instead, Labour will work to improve the UK’s trade and investment relationship with the EU, by tearing down unnecessary barriers to trade. We will seek to negotiate a veterinary agreement to prevent unnecessary border checks and help tackle the cost of food; will help our touring artists; and secure a mutual recognition agreement for professional qualifications to help open up markets for UK service exporters.”- Labour Party Manifesto, June 2024

Screengrab from the Labour Party's website
Only three specific initiatives were mentioned: veterinary, touring artists, and recognition of qualifications. This was backed up by many election speeches where it was stated categorically that Brexit was accepted and there was no going back.
The report's authors say that the Government’s anti-Brexit, pro-EU membership, false rhetoric has been escalating rapidly
The departure from the Manifesto started with Ministers such as Wes Streeting and David Lammy.
Here are three examples from many, starting with David Lammy last year
“It's self-evident that leaving the European Union badly damaged our economy, took us out of an important marketplace and created serious friction.”
- The Rt Hon David Lammy MP, Deputy Prime Minister, Secretary of State for Justice, and Lord Chancellor, The News Agents Podcast, 04 Dec 2025

Gradually, the Government started getting bolder. Here is the Chancellor, Rachel Reeves, nearly a month ago.
“But Brexit did deep damage. Recent independent studies indicate its GDP impacts could be as much as 8%.”
- The Rt Hon Rachel Reeves MP, Chancellor, Mais Lecture, London Univ, 17 Mar 2026
As Chancellor, Ms Reeves will have known these reports were only forecasts and that they have turned out to be wrong. Any suggestion that the "GDP impacts [of Brexit] could be as much as 8%" is simply untrue, says the report. They cite previous reports on “these independent studies” which they published at the start of the year.
By this month, the Prime Minister felt confident enough to join in, in full.
“But as the Chancellor has rightly pointed out, Brexit did deep damage to our economy. And the opportunities to strengthen our security and cut the cost of living, they are simply too big to ignore.
“So, in the coming weeks we will announce a new summit with our EU partners. And I can tell you, at that summit, the UK will not just ratify existing commitments made at last year’s summit.”- The Rt Hon Sir Keir Starmer MP, 01 Apr 2026

Why lie? To justify breaking the Manifesto on an ever more serious basis, states the report
In Sir Keir Starmer's words at the end of his quote above, it is clear the Government intends to continue breaking its Manifesto. He already exceeded Labour's Manifesto pledges at last year's EU summit in May. Now he is saying that at this year's EU summit he will go further still. It is apparent that the pledges on which this Government were elected no longer guide its policies and actions.
Perhaps it is not surprising that we are now at the point where former Secretaries of State are forcefully promulgating the Government's line.
Lord Redwood spoke exclusively to GB News and Facts4EU about the figures
“As we can see from the quotes above and below from different Labour figures, they cannot even agree on which lie to tell when it comes to slamming Brexit. Is it the 4% GDP loss lie or the 8% lie? Either way the great Facts4EU chart nails them both. There is no extra 4% or 8% loss of GDP compared to other major European economies over the Brexit period.
“The 8% figure came from a contrast with the US and some other fast-growing economies, leaving out all the main European ones as they grow too slowly. Of course, if we could grow as fast as the US we would become better off. Instead the government makes us live with most of the EU rules and taxes, stuck in the slow lane with the EU they do not want us to leave properly.”
- The Rt Hon Lord Redwood, 15 Apr 2026

Here’s former Defence Secretary Geoff Hoon on the Farage Show on GB News at the start of this month
This is at odds with the chart above. He will know those reports have been discredited, and also that they were only forecasts, yet he spoke about them on the People's Channel as if the fall in GBP had happened. He then compounded his narrative, saying that if compared with the EU's Top 3 economies (Germany, France and Italy) over the past 10 years, the UK is doing "significantly worse" than our EU counterparts and repeated it emphatically. The reality is that our economy has outperformed theirs.
What can the Government say in response to Facts4EU's chart?
The one result we can be reasonably sure of is that the Government is unlikely to hold up its collective hands and say “It’s a fair cop, Guv, you got us bang to rights.”
Instead, the report suggests the Government will deflect onto subjects such as ‘trade friction’ or some other technical matter. They will seize on relatively minor points. What they will simply be unable to explain away, states the Facts4EU report, is the most fundamental point of all. And that is: No, Brexit has NOT ”deeply damaged” the UK economy.
The chart and this report show very clearly they have consistently, flagrantly, and knowingly lied.
In our 'Observations' below, we therefore issue a direct challenge to the Government.
Lord Redwood's final thoughts
“The government lies are deeply damaging to UK growth, to jobs and living standards for everyone in the country. Hitching us back to the bad rules, dear energy and high taxes of the EU will guarantee slower growth, not give us a boost. When we were in the Single Market our 28-year average growth was under half the growth rate the UK enjoyed in the 20 years before we joined the EEC/EU. Why link us to failed policy? Why make us pay a large bill for the privilege of becoming a colony of a slow-growing, unfriendly bureaucracy across the Channel?”
- The Rt Hon Lord Redwood, 15 Apr 2026

Richard Tice's final thoughts
“With this government seemingly floundering at every turn, this latest definitive proof of the way they have misled the public so brazenly is shocking even by their standards.”
“Now it's quite clear that Sir Keir and his colleagues are going to have to do another complete U-turn, or lose what last remaining vestiges of credibility they may have had left.”
- Richard Tice MP, 15 Apr 2026

Observations
Various opinion polls recently have shown a majority in favour of rejoining the EU. Is this any surprise, given the weekly diet of misinformation and disinformation (what we used to call 'propaganda') to which the British public has been subjected? If you are told over and over, categorically, that the economy is much worse off due to Brexit, even the most hardened sovereignty enthusiast might pause for thought.
We take no pleasure in calling out the Government and its senior Ministers as liars, but in this case we see no alternative. This is not a case of a judgement call or opinion. What they are telling the public on an increasing basis is untrue.
Were this some minor detail of policy, we would - in accordance with our non-partisan status - make no or very little comment. Unfortunately this is a fundamental decision which was made by the electorate in 2016, subsequently fought against tooth and nail in a wholly undemocratic fashion by the likes of Sir Keir and his colleagues for years inside and outside Parliament, and we cannot keep silent.
The matter is key. If the public is told Brexit has deeply damaged the economy, then in the middle of a cost of living crisis they are much more likely to support policies which in fact would be deeply damaging to our economy.

Sticking to the point - And a direct challenge to the Government
Before making our final point, we must stress something. This report is about one, basic fact, because it is being repeated at an ever-increasing rate. There are countless other arguments that can be made about different aspects of Brexit. We know that Rejoiners like the Prime Minister will not want to confront the one, basic fact. We will simply say that any attempt to deflect away from this central point will be taken as an admittance of the Government’s inability to justify its grossly erroneous statements.
We must now challenge the Government to attempt to refute this summary report. We should say that we have far more information than this, but the single chart we have produced will, we hope, be sufficient to provoke a vigorous debate - a short debate whose result is inevitable. This is one the Government cannot win. We therefore call for a full public retraction and apology to the public for misleading them so egregiously.
