If bankers and other corporate staff want to get political, they should stand for Parliament

It’s time to stop the rot – business is business and politics should have nothing to do with it

All of our readers will be aware of the high profile news story about Nigel Farage having his bank accounts closed – accounts he has held for decades. To the best of our knowledge he has not broken the law. He even just won the accolade of ‘News Broadcaster of the Year’ from TRIC. Despite this, his bank has closed his accounts and no other bank will touch him, effectively making him a ‘non-person’.

Readers will also be aware that this has happened to thousands of people, most of them too scared to speak out after managing to get another account and not wanting to tempt fate with their new provider.

Enough!

We’re sure that we are not the only ones who find TV adverts today racist and the quality lamentable. Years ago the British advertising industry was widely considered to be the best in the world. No longer. We are now treated to what amounts to political advertising and Ofcom is doing nothing about this.

It’s time for all good people in the United Kingdom to stand up and tell the people working in our corporates to forget politics and just give us the services we are paying for. If they hold political opinions this is of course normal, but these should not intrude on their work. If they feel passionately about one cause or another, they should resign and stand for Parliament.

The curse of ‘ESG’

Readers may have come across the term ‘ESG’ and not been aware of what it means. ‘ESG’ stands for ‘environmental, social, and corporate governance’. This is a disease which has permeated to the highest levels in the UK’s boardrooms.

This was first started by the United Nations 20 years ago and is now rife across our corporate world. Aside from anything else, all companies need to show they are ‘on the page’ or they will struggle to get any investment, nor to sell their shares to pension funds.

This is Big Brother at its worst

Corporates are now expected to have policies on climate change, biodiversity, deforestation, pollution mitigation, energy efficiency and water management. On the ‘social’ side they must declare their positions on employee safety and health, working conditions, diversity, equity, and inclusion, and conflicts and humanitarian crises.

Regarding ‘Governance’ they should have statements on bribery, corruption, diversity, executive compensation, cyber security and privacy.

Whatever happened to innovation and the pursuit of profit?

We expect British companies to provide a normal, safe working environment for their staff and to employ and promote according to merit. We expect them to comply with the law in all their dealings. Apart from that we expect them to do the best job they can and to provide the best goods and services possible at the lowest prices. That’s all.

Back to Nigel

We and CIBUK interviewed Nigel Farage in London yesterday, after the day’s cricket at Lords had ended.

He was on sparkling form considering what he’s been going through. We managed to get the interview with him as part of our ‘Independence Documentary’’ just before he takes time off to review his future. His contribution is an absolute cracker that you do NOT want to miss.

TV star Alex Philips did an amazing job interviewing all the celebrities. We are now faced with a few weeks of editing, which of course costs money because it involves professionals.

We were successful in raising the funds for all the filming (Nigel, Sir Jacob, Sir John Redwood, David Jones, Ann Widdecombe and many others from across the political spectrum) but we still need help raising a few thousand pounds for the editing process. Observations

The malaise in corporate culture all started at the UN. Since then it has proliferated. Goodness knows how many people are now employed in this nonsense.

We take the traditional view. Business is business and politics is politics. Those of the Brexit Facts4EU team who are in business prefer not to burden their customers with the additional costs of employing personnel to deal with policy statements and conformity on climate change, biodiversity, deforestation, pollution mitigation, energy efficiency, water management, diversity, equity, and inclusion, and conflicts and humanitarian crises.

What a load of tosh. Let’s get on with business and making Brexit Britain an outstanding place to be based in.
