Striking a massive blow for Brexit

Day after day on our television screens and in our newspapers, ‘reporters’ discuss the apparent impossibility of achieving Brexit because our MPs don’t want it.

All that these commentators seem to talk about are :-

Votes on Mrs May’s surrender treaty
Votes against a ‘no deal’ Brexit
Votes for extensions
Votes for a losers’ referendum
Votes to allow MPs to usurp the Government’s order of business
And most recently the decision of the Speaker as to what he will let MPs vote on at all

How often do these media folk discuss what the people want?

At Brexit Facts4EU.Org we have long held the traditional view that we live in a democracy, where the will of the people should ultimately decide who we can elect to legislate over how we live our lives.

We know our beliefs are old-fashioned, but we don’t particularly care.

As far as we’re aware, neither the Speaker nor our MPs
have yet actually legislated against General Elections.

Perhaps this is being discussed in committee rooms deep in the heart of the Palace of Westminster, but at the time of writing we are all still entitled to vote for someone to represent us. And we can do this once every five years - or whenever a Prime Minister feels she can safely extend her period of power….

We all still have a voice and we all still have power – let’s use it now

None of us want to lose our source of income. This is one thing ordinary working people have in common with Members of Parliament.

Many MPs have an additional consideration. Their jobs do not only bring in a salary, they also confer power and status. This power is distributed to varying degrees depending on where the MPs stand in the hierachy and whether their political party is in government or not.

Regardless of an MP’s individual position, however, they do not want to lose their jobs. Full stop.

So let’s threaten that.

Over 1 in 3 MPs could easily lose their jobs at the next election

Our next article comes from research we conducted last year. It shows how easily voters could exert massive pressure on MPs who are currently failing to support the decision of the majority of the British electorate to leave the European Union.

More importantly it shows the power you have right now, without waiting for the date of the next General Election. Why get angry after MPs have somehow denied us Brexit? Why not look at what we could all be doing right now, to prevent the thwarting of Brexit?

I am saddened that ONLY 1 in 3 might loose their jobs at the next election, i hope we can create a movement to remove even more of these traitors.
I think we can maybe acieve this by pointing out that after loved ones DEMOCRACY is the most important thing for society, and that these remoaners do not respect this fact.
i think a democracy and justice party would walk it at the next election, people create the society and therefore should create the justice within it.

Steve The key question is which MPs are part of the "1 in 3" losers group. In 2017 one of the most pro-Brexit MPs in parliament lost his seat to a Labour Remainer MP in a constituency that voted 61% in favour of leaving. The 2017 GE gave us a more pro-Remain parliament than we had before the vote. To be honest I don't trust this will of the people claptrap. And before anyone blames May's campaign let's not forget that in 2017 the Tories increased their vote significantly. May actually secured a bigger share of the vote than Thatcher got in her 1983 landslide victory over Foot. May's campaign was poor but the Tories would have grabbed it with both hand if they'd been offered a 42.4% vote share before the election. The problem was too many voters went for Labour's "Customs Union" Brexit with lots of free stuff.

Perhaps it would of been more honest of you to swap the word 'trust' with 'respect'?

Putting all your 'statistics' aside John Finn, at least Maggie Thatcher secured a LANDSLIDE VICTORY, unlike the pathetic Theresa May's embarrassing campaign which resulted in the LOSS of her parliamentary majority, and necessitated grovelling to the DUP for support! As one voter said 'she couldn't deliver a pizza, never mind Brexit'.
And if you have so little respect for the will of the people, ie, Democracy, perhaps you are living in the wrong country?

My fear is that if the EU is allowed to bind us even more tightly and subsume us into their execrable 'organisation' we won't be allowed to have GEs on our own terms. They'd be held on the terms the EU deems acceptable. Nothing to do with our Parliament ''allowing'' them or not.

Barbara Jell, Mrs Thatcher was CONSIDERABLY helped to ‘win’ that landslide by our archaic and very unrepresentative electoral system of First Past The Post. As the opposition vote to the Tories was very nearly completely split in half in 1983 between the Labour Party and the Liberal/SDP Alliance many newly elected Tory MPs that year won simply by slipping through the middle in their seats. Also, I believe I am correct in stating Mrs Thatchers’s Tories polled a slightly LOWER nationwide share of the vote than they did in 1979 and, as is usual in Britain, they had LESS than 50% support overall in the country.
We really do need to get rid of FPTP because it means that too many MPs have no real reason to listen to the public on important issues like the EU, mass immigration, crime etc when such a considerable number of them hold ‘safe’ seats whereby all they have to do to win them is to attract the ‘core’ Labour or Tory voters in their seats. Quite litteraly, this means they would retain them even if they were an axe murderer or a paedophile ie the ‘My Grandfather always voted Tory/Labour so I must as well vote’ keeps their seats safe!
As a good example of this tendency, I live in the ultra-safe Tory stronghold of Brentwood and Ongar where our new MP, Mr Alex Burghart, has a numerical majority of 24,002 and a percentage majority (the vital figure you half to get the ‘swing’ needed to oust the sitting member) of a huge 45% over Labour. My vote here in what is the TENTH safest Tory seat in the country (just one place below Teresa May’s Maidenhead) is effectively TOTALLY WORTHLESS! Is it any wonder then that Alex Burghart voted for May’s Versailles Treaty Mark 2 in order to CON his constituents into believing he was delivering upon their Brexit vote (Brentwood Council area voted by 59% to 41% to LEAVE the EU and NOT become the EU’s first colony!)?

Continued: I see that Liam Fox believes that one of the beauties of having referendums is that each vote has EQUAL WEIGHT to another one. I agree with him. However, unfortunately he won’t allow me or others to have a vote of EQUAL VALUE in general elections or local elections!
It is my belief that if we had had PROPORTIONAL REPRESENTATION in general elections since the late 1960’s onwards then even Edward Heath may not have been quite so determined to join the Common Market, or, at the very least, not joined our country to that organisation without holding a pre legislative referendum as he did, as he might very well have been fearful of anti-Common Market parties growing and taking votes away from his party’s ‘Right-Wing’ flank. His party may also have split fairly amicably with perhaps Enoch Powell leading an anti-Common Market splinter party and gaining seats in parliament and thus influencing the national debate on the subject. Who knows we may have been spared the forty plus years of Tory turmoil on the matter?
