The tide is turning against ‘the Blob’ – Can you feel the clean, fresh, wind start to fill our sails?
“The tide is turning against ‘the Blob’”… What do we mean by that? We're talking about our strong sense that for the last few years a fundamental shift has begun in the mood of ordinary people, when confronted with the next piece of scarcely-believable and wholly unacceptable news.
Whether it’s the latest figures for the millions per day the Home Office is spending on the housing of illegal migrants in expensive hotels, or some serious criminal’s sentence being overturned because his human rights have been infringed, the silent majority are becoming increasingly less accepting and more vocal. It takes a lot to stir the British Lion, it is said, but once stirred beware its mighty roar.

The UK Fisheries Campaign is delighted to announce that TV’s Martin Daubney has agreed to highlight our campaign on television. Whether it's on his afternoon show or when he is hosting 'Farage' at 7pm, Martin's a very popular presenter on GB News – Britain’s fastest-growing news channel. In particular he has become well-known for taking up the cause of British farmers. Now he is going to do the same for our fishermen.
We will shortly be revealing days and times when you can ‘catch’ Martin presenting the incredible stories we have, with live interviews, clandestinely-shot videos, and hard-hitting questions to those in power. Some of this will make your blood boil, some will make you proud to be British, and some will simply inform and entertain you.
What all of them will do is bring to the surface the totemic issue of our great tradition of fishing in the political debate and will ensure we start to right the wrongs done to our fishermen and our coastal communities over so many years.
In the coming days and weeks, look out for more announcements of famous figures backing this campaign!
Here is what ‘triggered’ us sufficiently to say “Enough is enough”
As so often, it took an apparently minor thing to finally make us act. It almost doesn’t matter what it was. We’re sure that most members of the public can think of something they have seen on the news recently which ‘got their goat’, to continue the animal metaphor.
The trigger could have been one of many things we have uncovered, across a great many topics. In this case it happened over fishing, when we uncovered the latest set of evidence against the UK bureaucrats who are acting in apparent complicity with their EU counterparts. Specifically we could see how these British public servants have been making our fishermen’s lives as miserable as possible, decimating the size of the UK fleet, and destroying the fabric of coastal communities.
Which brings us to…
Regular readers will know that yesterday Facts4EU launched ‘The UK Fisheries Campaign’ (UKFC).

This attracted massive interest from across the country and ordinary people started signing up to support it. These are people who perhaps have never been on a fishing boat in their lives, but were sufficiently outraged and motivated to act by our introduction to this 2025 fisheries series and by the first 2025 special report we published, showing how our fishermen have been treated appallingly for many years. What is almost worse is that it is our own authorities who are causing much of the harm to the UK fleet, by seeming to turn a blind eye to the activities of the foreign fishing vessels while prosecuting our own.
The evidence we hold has now reached the point where it can be said to be truly damning. It is so strong and so all-encompassing it cannot be countered – or at least not by any normal person. The combined weight of this evidence reeks of a systematic and concerted effort by British officers of government agencies to act directly against the interests of the UK fishing community whose interests it might have been thought were important. And they are doing so with government support.
It’s about to get a whole lot worse
What is even worse is that the EU are soon to demand a better deal for a long duration for (predominantly) French, Spanish and Dutch fishermen…. And we fear our Government will be inclined to believe the pro-EU, British bureaucrats who work for its marine agencies, and acquiesce to a new, five- or ten-year EU agreement which will potentially have a fatal effect on what remains of the UK’s fishing fleet.
