At any time in the coming hours and days, the Speaker of the Commons will rise and read out a Government Regulation – usually a formality – and it will pass into law.

This time it will be different.

This Regulation from Sir Keir Starmer’s Government gives away more UK sovereignty, and one MP is leading the charge to stop him. The MP and noted barrister Jim Allister will shout “No!” when the Speaker makes his announcement. This little known procedure will force a vote to be taken in the House of Commons on the highly sensitive topic of “Who governs Britain?”

In normal circumstances Regulations such as this, known as ‘Statutory Instruments’, tend to go through ‘on the nod’. If no-one objects they automatically become law. That will not be the case this time, however.

Today we can exclusively announce an unexpected twist in the reports we have been filing on the Government’s plan to cause EU Regulations to be effected in England, Scotland and Wales, starting on Tuesday next week (01 Jul 2025).

A chance for the people to fight back

Our headline yesterday – “The first time since Brexit the EU has asserted legislative power over the entire UK” – came as a surprise to many people. In that report, we gave further details of the way in which Sir Keir’s Labour Government is set to give effect to EU regulations throughout the United Kingdom, as opposed to in Northern Ireland only, as at present. (Having left the EU, EU law should not apply to any part of the UK.)

We showed how – if Sir Keir Starmer’s government gets its way – a costly EU Regulation will start being enforced by the UK’s authorities onto the entire UK from next Tuesday. Our report explained that:

This is a regulation made not by our Parliament, but by a foreign political body: the EU.
Even more extraordinarily, it does not apply to the EU, but to a non-EU country – the United Kingdom.
The Regulation was drafted by Brussels 2½ years after we left the EU.
It imposes rules on our own internal trade: from within GB as well as between GB and NI.
It is the first time since Brexit that the EU has exercised direct legislative power over the whole of the UK.

In this ‘Two-Tier’ defence of our sovereignty, we are backing Jim Allister’s bold move in the Commons with an appeal to our Members and the public at large to bombard MPs with emails, letters, calls, and messages to their social media accounts.

It’s easy to contact your MP and tell him or her to vote against the Government and for sovereignty. Your voice will be amplified thousands of times by Members and supporters of the Stand for Our Sovereignty campaign, as well as thousands more members of the public who have decided “Enough is enough.”

On the next page (link below) we will provide the essential information on how to do this effectively. Firstly we have a message for readers from the man who will shout “No!” and in so doing will put a stake in the ground for sovereignty, democracy, independence and freedom.

A personal message to you, from Jim Allister KC MP, Leader of the TUV

The proposal that next week Members of Parliament should vote for an arrangement that requires all parts of the UK to be ready to submit to ‘Not for EU’ labelling requirements, mandated by an EU law made for the UK three years after we had supposedly left, constitutes the most extraordinary validation of the fact that the biggest democratic vote in the history of the United Kingdom still has not been honoured.

The question is whether we are happy to sit back and be walked over by the EU and Remain establishment or whether we were serious about the restoration of our country and its sovereignty.

In this context I warmly welcome the advent of the Stand for Our Sovereignty Campaign and am delighted that they have decided to make this vote a moment of reckoning.

The truth is that no part of the UK should have to carry ‘Not for EU’ labels, because of an EU Regulation made in 2023, 2½ years after we left the EU, to regulate the division of our country by a foreign power.

No self-respecting country with a future can afford to allow itself to be treated in this way.

We must be prepared to stand our ground, like the other countries of the world, and demand that the territorial integrity of our country is both recognised and respected by the outside world. This will be quite impossible for so long as we are governed by people who do not believe in our United Kingdom, its territorial integrity, its sovereignty.

In this our situation will not change unless and until the quiet majority of people who care about our country stand up for it with a quiet, dignified determination and resolve.

With this purpose very much in view I would urge people who care about the future of the UK from right across the nation to seize the moment and contact their Members of Parliament to ask them to vote against Retail Marking Goods Regulations next week.

Reform UK will vote against the Government

Reform UK have confirmed to us today that they are against the "Marking of Retail Goods Regulations" and will be voting against the Government.

As yet, we have had no information from the other parties as to their voting intentions.

Finally, we will be ‘naming and shaming’

Across all our platforms we will be publishing a list of all those who either supported this attack on our sovereignty, or who abstained in the vote. We expect all MPs to vote against, and abstentions for us will count as a vote against sovereignty.

This is implementation of the Windsor Framework agreed by the Conservatives.

This is making a mountain out of a molehill but is a direct consequence of Brexit. Resolving the question over Northern Ireland and the land border between the EU and UK was never answered. Similar issue for Gibraltar.

Where was the Save our Sovereignty campaign when the President of the USA has forced the UK to spend 5% of GDP on defence.

It's not a consequence of Brexit, it's a consequence of the reaction and Behavior of the EU.
It's a consequence of Teresa.May allowing the EU to dictate the order and terms of negotiations.
And it's a consequence of the remainer establishment trying it's upmost to overturn the referendum..

Two Tier, Never Here, No Idea, Free Gear Keir has lost control of his party, he's not long for the role and Labour will not be re-elected at the next election.
And in the EU's worst nightmare, Reform is looking increasingly likely to form the next government.

2 G. It comes back to what is Brexit? It was vague slogans. TM took on an impossible task. If you look at VoteLeave the current reset is pretty close. Boris promised no change to the Irish border, what he didn’t say is where the border will be. Unification of Ireland will be as a result of Brexit and what Jim Allister is trying to hold that off as long as he can.

May didn't have an impossible task, she had a task she wasn't sufficiently invested in.
Boris was hamstrung by a traitorous remainer parliament, without whom the border in the Irish sea may not have come into being.

Even now it can be removed.

You're counting your chickens if you think this will lead to Irish unification.
It would need a referendum in NI
It would need the Unionist assembly members to vote in favour of a referendum at Stormont, which isn't likely to happen
The standard of living in NI is higher than in the ROI
People in NI are in receipt of higher welfare spending than those in the ROI
So don't be too sure they would want to secede from the UK and accede to the ROI

I would suggest that the more likely outcome of the current political chaos is that we struggle on to the next GE, with TTK giving away as much sovereignty as he possibly can (trying also to make any roll back as difficult as possible) which will come to an abrupt halt when the campaigning starts.

Contrary to your constant bleating that people regret Brexit, sparkless, I think they regret the mess that our contemptible political class have made of their responsibility to enact the vote, and are sick of ALL politicians from the legacy parties (barring a very few notable exceptions).
.
I think that Reform UK will get voted in to a majority in the HoC, with an expectation that they start to solve the problems that we'll face up until that point.
.
Sadly, this will be just the start of the difficult times, as the snivel serpents (who thus far have been able to control the spineless politicians) will need to have an enormous change to stop them to kyboshing the work that NEEDS to be done.
.
So really sparkless, you may feel that you've won a battle with Two Tier, but ultimately you WILL lose the war, as I believe that we will end up with a full and proper Brexit, and go on to renew our terrible political class.

You may, of course, come back to continue bleating if I'm wrong, but somehow, I don't think I will be.

5 NM. Generally I agree with what you're saying. Apart from Brexit was always gong to be a mess because it wasn't defined and had no strategy. Remember negotiating before Article 50? never possible because of the way it was written by a UK diplomat, do you not think VoteLeave should have known that.

I agree of the likelihood that reform will form the next Govt but not sure about the majority. As Nigel Farage has said the biggest challenge for Reform will be themselves, they haven't got the experienced people to do the task so it will be another mess along the lines of wants is happening in Local Govt.

People have short memories. Johnson won in 2019 because NF stepped aside in many seats. Farage is therefore partly responsible for the Brexit we have.
.
Getting back to the piece here and sovereignty. Re defence, with Ukraine, the Middle East and doubts about how Trump would react if something did happen in Europe we and Europe do need to spend more on defence. The 5% has been forced on NATO by Trump, but no complaints about sovereignty and outside interference. Probably cynical of me to see the main beneficiary of a significant increase in defence spending to be the USA. The increase in European defence spending makes it more important for the UK defence industry to be able to sell in Europe.

The real cause of all this is brexit itself. It was sold on the basis of a pack of lies by the leave campaign. Warnings were given by John Major, Tony Blair and others about the Irish border situation but these were ignored. Also the overall economic effect of brexit is proving disastrous. Ignore this Jim Allister nonsense.

The UK is having it's sovereignty undermined but given time it will be easy to rectify. I would much rather be in the UK's position than in the EU's position, which is now a Union without any Unity. Ursula Von De Leyen can not manage her coalition because of political differences and there are similar political problems in France, Germany, The Netherlands, Poland, Spain etc. For every major policy there are now serious differences and there is definitely no easy fix.

Margaret Thatcher stuck to her policies when times were difficult and constantly repeated her phrase "the lady's not for turning". This gained her respect around the world as a strong and determined leader. Contrast this with Kier Starmer. After only a year he has U-turned so many times he's going around in circles. How can you have an economic policy if you are constantly changing your policies. This is destroying business confidence in the UK and demonstrating that Kier is a very weak lame duck prime minister. His latest claim that he did not read his speech on immigration before making it is just pathetic. It will not surprise me if Labour MP's start putting their own interest first and start rebelling on a regular basis.

The remainer claims that Brexit is responsible for the UK's problems are ridiculous. They need to start looking at the EU and see that it constantly creates divisions and the UK will continue to get caught up with this until we have a Government that is willing to become a full sovereign nation.

7 DL. I agree entirely. The Good Friday Agreement was reached after both the UK and RoI had joined the EU. The free movement that came with being in the EU negated the calls for Irish unity and helped bring an end to the Troubles that resulted in 50,000 casualties. Leaving the EU sound simple but the Irish Border issue was never resolved and the fudge is the border in the Irish Sea. This sovereignty argument is an act of deperation.

9 NH. MT was strong and determined, the type of leader this country needs. She campaigned for being in Europe and fought our corner. The Conservative Party have fallen into chaos over Europe and have left the door open for Reform. More chaos!
