Stand for Our Sovereignty – For All Communications with MPs
The following is written with the new campaign in mind and that means we must all act fast. The vote which will be provoked by Jim Allister's "No!" could come at any time, so we urge you all to act today!
In due course we will provide a much fuller guide to lobbying your MP but for now we just need them to know that they may not care about the EU's sovereignty over the UK, but we do! Because we must get through to them quickly, we must focus on emails and calls and all our advice on these is below.
Firstly, the subject matter
You are writing concerning the 'The Marking of Retail Goods Regulations'. The Speaker will read this out very soon and it will be opposed so there will be a vote. This Regulation is a Statutory Instrument which has the effect of imposing EU Regulations on the entire United Kingdom. This means business being done between and within England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
You are asking your MP to vote against these Regulations and thereby voting in effect for the full sovereignty of the United Kingdom.
It is up to you what you say but you may wish to tell your MP that his or her vote on this fundamental matter of sovereignty will be recorded and any MP voting for these Regulations WILL be named on numerous websites of groups supporting the Stand for Our Sovereignty campaign, and that there will be a lot of media coverage.
You may wish to add that you will accept no justifications for failing to vote against these Regulations and that the sovereignty of the people expressed through Parliament is paramount. A foreign power must play no part in this.
- Keep your messages very short – they have a much better chance of being read
- Better to make one point well, than ten points which get lost in a long message
- Remember you're not trying to convert the MP
- You simply want them to be worried about their job if they don't support UK sovereignty
Conduct
- Don't be abusive, always be polite
- Never address an email or letter to more than one person
- Make it personal and use their name
- If you're writing to your constituency MP, you must provide your home address
Writing Emails
These days MPs receive thousands of emails. The House of Commons server is set up to exclude emails sent to multiple recipients.
- Sending emails copied to many MPs doesn't work
- Only individually-addressed emails have a chance of being read
- Multiple recipient emails will go into spam folders or will not be read
- Always include your name and address
- Many MPs have autoresponders which say that your email will not be read if you are not a constituent
- We don't know how vigorously an MP's assistant checks that an address is in the constituency
Writing posts on 'X' (Tweets)
We strongly suggest that you only send your MP a tweet after emailing or calling. Tweeting your MP is essentially a way of letting off steam. It's always worth doing, for those MPs who actually see their Twitter accounts (many are run by assistants) but it's low on the pecking order.

All monies are handled by one of the groups behind this campaign, CIBUK, the oldest-established organisation for independence, sovereignty, democracy and freedom in the UK, having been founded in 1969. We trust this will give everyone confidence that their money will be managed properly and spent effectively.
Observations
This is SO important. We must put a stake in the ground. We really hope you will make a small effort today and make sure your MP knows what you think. Please tell him or her to vote against the Marking of Retail Goods Regulations.
And please, please help us to carry on our vital work in defence of independence, sovereignty, democracy and freedom by donating today. Thank you.
