The ‘Stand for Our Sovereignty’ Campaign is soaring with the British public

“I haven’t seen anything like this in 10 years,” says the campaign’s acting Chairman

Last Wednesday when Foreign Secretary the Rt Hon David Lammy did his secretive deal with the Spanish and the EU, it was time to put a stake in the ground. A plan that had been in preparation for many weeks was immediately accelerated and implemented. Following a few phone calls the decision was made and the ‘Stand for our Sovereignty’ campaign was launched.

Events then moved at a breathtaking pace as it became clear that action was needed urgently. By Friday morning Brexit Facts4EU had announced the formation of the new campaign here. The reaction from its readership was both instant and forceful. Emails and messages started coming in with strong statements of support along the lines of “Finally, someone to speak up for us all.”

Support came from across the spectrum, as might be expected from those following a non-partisan organisation. Comments were generally not party political; they were about the very concept of a sovereign, independent and proud nation, seeing its essence being chipped away at and diminished by a section of government which seemed more concerned with the viewpoint of international lawyers than with the interests of its own people. CIBUK immediately followed, as did ‘Conservative Post & Reformer’, led by Claire Bullivant.

Within hours of launch it was clear: a touchpaper had been lit

At this point events moved almost faster than the campaign’s originators could handle them. A crucial moment came on Friday morning, when the Chairman of Facts4EU and CIBUK received a call out of the blue from a very senior political figure. This was followed by a call from a Senior Producer at GB News, as well as by leaders of some other independence groups.

On Saturday Facts4EU published a second piece, based on 10 questions for Mr Lammy by the well-respected former Brexit Minister, the Rt Hon David Jones. Yesterday, Sunday 15 June, an article was published on GB News written by Keith Bays which turned out to be very popular and which resulted in a deluge of contacts from members of the public.

At the same time, a crucial, all-day strategy meeting was being held to plan the moves which are possible when financial resources are as yet at an extremely low level. One of the outcomes is this appeal for specialist help and for financial support.

As the oldest-established independence organisation in the UK, with an impeccable pedigree, highly respected Patrons, formal constitution, and established bank accounts, CIBUK will act as the repository for all funds which will then be distributed as appropriate.
