How many of the monthly total of 115,000 will be heading for the UK’s southern shores?

On Monday (22 Jan 2024) the EU Commission’s statistics agency revealed the latest huge rise in the number of asylum seekers entering the EU.

In October 2023, a staggering 114,830 first-time asylum applicants applied for protection in EU countries. This represents a massive 17% increase compared with the same month one year previously.

Part One : The soaring numbers of migrants entering the EU each month (This report)
Part Two : The tens of billions being sent home by these migrants reaches record levels

The key questions for British people are

  • How many of the EU’s 115,000 in October want to head to the UK, and
  • How many more migrants entered the EU and avoided the asylum procedures altogether?

These numbers are out of control

A quick glance at our charts above shows clearly that the situation in the EU is completely out of hand. For 115,000 migrants to claim asylum in the EU in one month, to say nothing of those who manage to avoid the asylum system altogether and simply head for the northern French coast, sends a very worrying message to Rishi Sunak.

Mr Sunak’s Rwanda Bill – such as it is – is now bogged down in the House of Lords and shows no sign of becoming law any time soon. Even if and when it does eventually become law, government ministers - including the Home Secretary and the Immigration Minister - have already resigned over it.

They say it will not start flights to Rwanda, as a result of the legal challenges due to its loopholes.

Germany, Italy, France, and Spain received 66% of all first-time asylum applicants

Similarly to previous months, in October 2023, Germany (34,000), Italy (14,950), France (14,900) and Spain (12,505) continued to receive the highest number of first-time asylum applicants, accounting for 66% of all first-time applicants in the EU.

The top 5 nationalities were :-

  1. Syrians
  2. Turks
  3. Afghans
  4. Venezuelans
  5. Colombians

Quite why Venezuelans and Colombians were so numerous is a question best addressed to the Berlaymont building in Brussels, home to the EU Commission of Ursula von der Leyen.

Observations

Our chart above shows that immigration into the EU is completely out of control. In the last 12 months the numbers have jumped by 2.1 times when compared to 2021.

This growth rate is simply unsustainable and yet the EU Commission seems incapable of doing anything about it. It’s no wonder that populist parties all across the EU are surging in their voter support across the bloc.

Only yesterday we reported on the huge rise in popularity of the right-wing AfD in Germany. The AfD is now polling at a rate getting on for double that of the German Chancellor’s own party, the SPD.

Why we should care in the UK

The vast majority of readers will not need what follows but we write it for Rejoiner-Remainers. Firstly, the illegal boat migrants crossing the English Channel and entering the UK come from the safe countries of the EU. Specifically their country of departure is President Macron’s France. The more migrants that enter the EU, the more of Macron’s illegal boat migrants will cross to the United Kingdom.

Secondly, it is not in the UK’s interests to see our EU trading partners having their populations being altered in such a dramatic fashion, so quickly. This can only lead to a breakdown in social cohesion and substantial effects on their economies as they struggle to cope with the costs of dealing with all these migrants.

More than 1 million migrants made asylum applications in the 12 months to October 2023.

Only a couple of years ago we couldn’t run a report such as the one above without running the risk of being banned on social media. Now major national newspapers are picking up our reports. What are the social media companies going to do – ban national newspapers?

Twitter (‘X’) now allows a fair degree of free speech since it was bought by Elon Musk. Facebook remains a woke enclave. Facts4EU will continue to report facts and to speak out. Get over it, snowflakes.

We must get reports like this out there

Reports like the one above take far longer to research, write and produce than many people realise. If they were easy, readers would see other organisations also producing these daily. However, there’s little point in the Facts4EU.Org team working long hours, seven days-a-week, if we lack the resources to promote them effectively – to the public, to MPs, and to the media. This is where you come in, dear reader.
