1.2m immigrants into the UK in 12 months? What IS the Government thinking?

The latest immigration figures are so bad we're breaking them into a three-part report

A Facts4EU 3-parter on legal UK immigration, illegal immigration, and the effect on the UK population, using the latest official data

Brexit voters wanted to “take back control” – yet the Government simply hasn’t. Yesterday at 09.30am (Thurs 23 Nov 2023), the Office for National Statistics released its latest data on immigration into the UK.

This revealed a shocking 102,000 rise in the number of long-term legal migrants entering the UK, bringing the total in the 12 months to June 2023 to 1.18 million.

A Brexit Facts4EU.Org Three-Part Series

We cut through the volumes of data to answer three questions :-

Part I – How much has ‘legal’ immigration risen? (This report)
Part II - How much has illegal immigration risen?
Part III - What has been the effect on the UK's population?

1. The scandalous increase in legal immigration

In today’s report we summarise the position on ‘legal’ immigration, as at 30 June 2023. These numbers are staggering.

In tomorrow’s report we will update our previous reports on the volume of illegal immigration, mostly from illegal migrants in President Macron’s France setting off from the French coast in small boats and then being escorted across the English Channel by the French Navy and then the RNLI and UK Border Force.

Finally in Part III we will show the effect of all of this on the population of the United Kingdom, as a direct result of government policies over recent years.

As in previous reports, we believe all these numbers to be chronically understated, based on our analysis of HMRC records of National Insurance numbers which have been issued. Even the ONS themselves admit they are evaluating how they collect data on this key issue, and which has been woefully inadequate for many years. Nevertheless we present a summary of the figures they released yesterday.

  • 2020 : 89,000
  • 2021 : 488,000
  • 2022 : 606,000

2. The breakdown between EU and non-EU immigration

12 months to June 2023

  • Non-EU immigration : 968,000 (+102,000 or +11.8%)
  • EU immigration : 129,000
  • Returning UK nationals : 84,000
  • TOTAL : 1,181,000

And it gets, MUCH worse

The numbers contained in the datasets provided by the Office for National Statistics and from the UK Home Office are so bad it is hard to know where to stop. However, here is just some of the breakdown that we think readers have the right to know. What follows comes from the UK Home Office, also released yesterday. This data is more current than that of the ONS and covers the period up to the end of September 2023, rather than the end of June.

The effects of all this legal immigration on the people of the country

The Daily Telegraph’s Allison Pearson summed this up in typically succinct style on Tuesday

“Where would you put 15 Birmingham's on this small island of ours?”

This is an incisive question. Mrs Pearson went on to write :-

“Whatever smoke and mirrors the Government deploys to hide its addiction to mass immigration, there are hard facts that can’t be disappeared.

“At least a million people will have been added to the British population in the past two years at a time when our public services are under terrible strain and you have more chance of dating Tom Cruise than of seeing a dentist.”

It seems to be a fact that those who run our country – whether in government or via their positions in ‘Establishment’ organisations - and who dominate our lives through their continued and strong influence, have remained resolute in their desire to grow our population to produce artificial growth in national GDP.

Observations

"We will reduce immigration to the tens of thousands"

Readers will recall the pledge by our new Foreign Secretary Lord David Cameron when he was Prime Minister, to reduce net immigration to "the tens of thousands". Not only did this never happen, he never even came close to honouring the pledge.

As if this weren't bad enough, numbers have rocketed since then. Let's be clear: if this happened in a public company then those in charge would have been fired. Because we're talking about politicians and civil servants, however, no-one will lose their job as a result of this fiasco.

The numbers we have analysed in our report above are so bad they almost beggar belief. As Allison Pearson pointed out, we're talking about the equivalent of 15 Birminghams entering the country in recent years. We will look at the impact on the population of the United Kingdom in Part III.

Tomorrow, however, we will update readers on another aspect of immigration - that of illegal migrants entering on small boats or in the back of lorries from Macron's France. The numbers may be smaller than from the legal routes but in some ways they are equally troubling, as we simply don't know who the majority of these people really are, as they deliberately jettison their identity papers before arriving.

We must get reports like this out there

Reports like the one above take far longer to research, write and produce than many people realise. If they were easy, readers would see other organisations also producing these daily. However, there’s little point in the Facts4EU.Org team working long hours, seven days-a-week, if we lack the resources to promote them effectively – to the public, to MPs, and to the media. This is where you come in, dear reader.
