NEW CAMPAIGN : ‘Dare to Think Differently' - Re-Energising the UK’s Youth

Let’s challenge young people’s thinking about Brexit and other issues using facts

This campaign will also address other policy areas and challenges young people to be open to new ideas and facts – we are sure they will rise to the challenge!

There’s no question about it. The UK’s young people are heavily in favour of rejoining the European Union, according to all the polls. This is perhaps unsurprising, given that 75% of their teachers and nearly 90% of their lecturers voted Remain. [Source: Times Higher Educational Supplement].

The anti-Brexit bias of our educators carries over into other areas of social and political life. For decades our young people have been influenced by those they listen to most – and who simply do not reflect the views of the country at large.

New campaign : ‘Dare to Think Differently’ - Re-Energising the UK’s Youth

Today we start the fight back, together with our partners at CIBUK – the oldest-established organisation for independence, democracy and freedoms in the UK, founded in 1969.

Today Brexit Facts4EU and CIBUK are launching a new campaign, aimed at reclaiming the hearts and minds of the young people of our country. We aim to do so via a simple appeal to young people to be open-minded and inquisitive – as most young people are – and to ask them to read some basic facts which may surprise them.

We plan to address the misinformation our young people have received from their teachers and lecturers, step-by-step, building a mini-library which pupils and students can access for free. It will offer summaries of key facts researched (as ever) from official sources. The information will challenge what they are being taught and will give them the chance to make up their own minds on any given topic.

This campaign’s first set of ‘Dare to Think Differently’ reports will be published tomorrow. Appropriately, it starts with student exchanges, on which we have excellent news for all the UK’s young people in schools and in higher education.

Offer of three internships

As part of this campaign, Brexit Facts4EU.Org is offering three part-time internships to young people, mentored by our Chairman. Whilst these are unpaid positions, this is a valuable opportunity to learn and to apply your influence to our output during this project. Working virtually, you will be expected to attend a weekly Zoom meeting where you can put forward your ideas. You will learn a great deal about the media and about political thinking.

The effects of years of indoctrination are now being seen in our daily lives

In our society as a whole we are now starting to see the effect of decades of indoctrination by our educators, which has resulted in some of the astonishing developments in recent years.

A high profile example of this has occurred in the last couple of weeks, as we have all learnt how our banks now see themselves as moral and political arbiters and censors, instead of simply providing the banking services which their shareholders might expect them to be focused upon.

Like him or loathe him, Nigel Farage was ‘de-personed’ by his bank and then by 11 other banks to which he applied for normal banking services. We now know this was because of his perfectly legal political views.

Even the Prime Minister spoke out against this and the City Minister, Andrew Griffith MP, is due to speak to all the banks next week, with new legislation to be introduced.

The question our new campaign addresses is ‘How can we stop these outrages before they start’?

We believe that those who would have a foreign, unelected body (the EU Commission) deciding our laws, and those who wish to create a homogeneous society where freedom of legal expression becomes outlawed or results in vile personal attacks, must be stopped.

And this starts with our young people who have been indoctrinated by our educators for decades. We leave the immediate need to legislate to our legislators, but we must go to the root cause or this will get far worse. The UK’s young people of today will create our society of the future – and we don’t want a totalitarian one, thanks. If we wanted that we would go to live in North Korea, Afghanistan, China, Iran, or Russia.

Leave/UKIP won the referndum by placing the blame for all UK's ill's on the EU. Now it's clear they were home grown and why disillusionment with Brexit has developed so quickly. It promised too much and has delivered little.

Sir John Major said the ‘young will win’ and form a new alliance with the EU in the future.
Speaking at the One Young World global forum for young leaders, Sir John said: “Young people have been let down, they overwhelmingly wished to remain in the EU, whereas many of their elders did not.
“I have been a critic of Brexit, and I remain so. I think it’s bad for the UK, bad for the EU and bad for Europe, and a colossal mistake. Other than that, I have no complaints about it.”
He added: “Young people prefer cooperation to separation.
“Even the most powerful nations in the world require allies.
“In the end, the young are going to win because they will be here and the elderly won’t.

Sir John Major was right with his warning of the effects of Brexit on Northern Ireland as well.

The problem with the young is that generally they have no experience of politics. Generally - They have not been around long enough for them to be justifiably cynical of any political utterance and generally oblivious to the state of corruption.

If John Major is your Rejoin Champion then you have big problems !
He managed to change his first chancellor from a europhile into a leading Brexit supporter. He took the UK into the the ERM and a few years latter we crashed out of it. It cost the UK public a fortune and made many Hedge Funds and Investment Bankers extremely wealthy. He then raised VAT to pay for the mess he created. His competence was constantly being challenged by his own MP's. He succeeded a prime minister that never lost an election, destroyed the Conservative Party's reputation for financial competence and he ended up with a massive electoral defeat.

Contrary to what you say above "Leave" won the referendum because people listened to both sides of the argument over a long period and made up their own minds.

I completely disagree on your last paragraph. People generally have little interest in politics, they hear sound bites, headlines and see personalities. The Leave campaign did a massively better job of this for the ref and why we now have the high dissolutionment with Brexit.

Re the youth, what they can see is a lying and disgraced prime minister who sold Brexit.

Let the youth know about the Brexit benefits of CPTPP.

Kemi Badenoch claimed official estimates from her own department of just a tiny 0.08 per cent GDP gain over 10 years were too small and did not take into account potential hidden benefits from joining.

But academics at the respected UK Trade Policy Observatory who have examined the agreement say the conditions for such a hidden further boost appear to be “highly unlikely”.

The Sussex University academics also note that the deal’s small benefit of 0.08 per cent appears to “fall somewhat short of compensating for the predicted 4 per cent GDP loss of leaving the EU”.

I agree that the present Government has failed to implement Brexit and they are destroying themselves with an unelected prime minister that is completely out of his depth. However this is not the same as the John Major catastrophes. The present problems have been created by two huge external events which have been very expensive. The John Major problems were all self created.

If you read yesterdays Facts4EU you will see how accurate the organisation that made this forecast has been at making other forecasts. There is a fine line between denial and delusional thinking and I fear that some remainers are starting to cross that line and they may never recover.

If you look through history you will find that in the long run electorates have been better judges than political parties. To join an organisation who's primary objective is to remove democratic control would be a big mistake.

As usual John Major is making a fool of himself. The elderly will not disappear, the young will become the elderly. In doing so they will gain experience, knowledge and understandings and for most of them their opinions will change. This is not new.

As you have said above "academics" not businesses. Yet again this lot are linked to a University that is missing their EU hand outs. As usual most of their focus is on low value agriculture and they completely ignore how UK membership will allow it influence the future of the CPTPP.

Only weirdos are interested in politics, in their youth: normal people at that age are interested in "Sex, Drugs and Rock-and-Roll." Brexiters can't even find 2 Brexit benefits.
I maintain that 're-joining' is an inevitability due to the number of new voters & how much longer
they will live than Brexiteers .Everyday brings more new voters.
It is obvious - not just to statisticians, the same conclusion would be reached by counting toes & fingers - even you see this now.
Unfortunately, for the right, there is little you can do to sway this group. Research says that the median age for people to "turn conservative"
has risen to early 40s. So if the Tories lose this next election, big IF lol, they can expect to be out of "national responsibility" - not "power" for a while.
This has nothing to do with teachers or lecturers. Game theory makes the most sense to the unbiased & remarkably - even to children who have never learned anything about it. The youth get it as they have not yet had the life crushed out of them - though there is a concerted effort.
We can sense when something is openly working against us, so won't vote against our own interests.
Many of you had this capability once, a long time ago - when things looked hopeful.
You'll have better chance reconnecting with that inner reservoir that may be reduced to a trickle but I
sincerely doubt you'll have much success stopping the torrent which is youth - it springs eternal.
