12 Brexit organisations urge the scrapping of the Withdrawal Treaty

In a letter to Boris Johnson, Brexit Facts4EU.Org writes for wide Brexit thinking

On Friday, the Prime Minister made a televised statement and No.10 then declared that “the trade talks are over”. Today, Sunday 18 October 2020, Brexit Facts4EU.Org is leading a campaign of 12 Brexit organisations who are urging the Prime Minister to “complete the job”.

The 12 Brexit organisations and 10 influential individuals who have signed the letter to the PM have done so because it is now essential to rescind the Withdrawal Agreement (WA).

The reasons are simple

When the UK exercised its right to leave the European Union, it participated in the WA process on the basis of an essential condition: the EU would act in good faith to agree a future permanent arrangement that enshrines UK sovereignty and secures a Free Trade Agreement.

It is now clear that the EU has breached its obligations repeatedly and consistently.

The representatives of a broad range of Brexit thinking now urge the PM to act

Prime Minister, you have robustly declared that the EU seems uninterested in a normal trade deal. In this event, we urge you to:

Announce that the Withdrawal Agreement and Protocol shall no longer have any legal force, with effect from 1st January 2021.
Implement alternative arrangements for the north-south border on the island of Ireland within the framework of the Good Friday Agreement, from the end of 2020, to ensure there is no need for the British government to impose a hard border.
Cease to make payments to the EU under the WA provisions.
Demand the UK’s proper share of the European Investment Bank.
Unilaterally grant favourable treatment to EU citizens resident in the UK in a manner consistent with the UK’s legal framework

To reiterate:

The United Kingdom Government must now rescind and void the Withdrawal Agreement on the basis of the breach by the European Union. Anything else would be a betrayal of democracy, sovereignty, and international law.

Observations

The 12 Brexit organisations who have co-signed our letter today to Boris Johnson represent a wide range of Brexit thinking and a very large number of voters.

This issue is serious. Putting aside the rights and wrongs of whether the UK Government should ever have signed the abominable Withdrawal Agreement, it’s now perfectly clear that the EU have not honoured it. The Government must therefore now rescind and void it forthwith.

In our view, and in the view of the 11 other Brexit groups, as well as the view of the Centre for Brexit Policy (who could not sign as they are “not a campaigning organisation”), it is essential that the WA must be voided before 31 December 2020.

If this does not happen, the United Kingdom will continue to be under the yoke of the EU for decades to come.

Mr Johnson, please act now, and finish the job

If you try and clear your mind of all the mist you can see how blatantly ludicrous the EU machine are behaving.
Its quite extraordinary in this day and age.

I see from the transcript Andrew Marr had Michael Gove on the hop. Gove will not admit that talks leading to a Canade style trade agreement are at an end. The EU have run us out of time.
Brussels calls Gove the NO DEAL sceptic.

Message to our Prime Minister, Boris Johnson.
As the great man Sir Winston Churchill declared at the outbreak of War: :'The interests of property, the hours of labour, are nothing compared with the struggle of life and honour, for right and freedom, to which we have vowed ourselves.'
So, is it not now time to confirm to the long suffering and betrayed British public that you and your Government, will do what you promised? And to confirm this by your Government rescinding and voiding the Withdrawal Agreement immediately. This is well overdue as you have proof piled upon proof of the breaches by the European Union and their total intransigence and unwillingness to negotiate a proper Deal with the UK. .Only by now voiding the Withdrawal Agreement can you convince your People that you are a Man of Honour who will uphold these three tenets of a Civilised Society: Democracy, Sovereignty, and International Law.

And again,it's France's Emmanuel Macron that makes the very obvious case of the anti-UK sentiment from the EU with his "up his own rear end' screaming,hissy fit,not going to happen demands of the UK with his latest 'cow dung' ranting of 'WE (the French) will have less energy from the UK if WE (the French) can't have YOU'RE (the UK's) fish! Really?! Is it not the case that if we in the UK have such a surplus of energy then,we in the UK can only get it cheaper to use for ourselves while causing the French at the very least to have more of a shortage themselves resulting in higher prices for the citizens of the EU,& the French people? Macron has no intention of being an ally of the UK due to his absolute despising of anything British, but,inadvertently is helping the UK to have a case for a No-Deal,clean,thorough break & very blatant "acting in bad faith" behaviours that go against the WA that they hold with such vigour & not surprisingly, not a single word uttered from the EU about such obvious 'bad faith'! The UK & Boris & Co have every reason to rip up the WA & PD & walk away! We need the EU, according to them! HAH! I don't think so!!! And as regards to Nicola Sturgeon & the SNP up here in Scotland,you can all go the same way as the French & EU & fade away into unimportant obscurity as such as you & they deserve! You are also guilty of acting in bad faith & deserve all that comes your way as a result!!

I certainly don’t agree with the last point. We should very definitely NOT be granting ANY form of favourable treatment to EU nationals in this country as one major reason so many voted for what has become a TOTAL MESS is because they were and still are totally fed-up with successive wretched anti-British governments in this country allowing in hundreds of thousands/millions of foreigners to settle here from both EU countries and non-EU countries alike. Infact, a serious government that truely wanted to take Britain out of the EU properly would have used these immigrants as a bargaining chip. That they didn’t just illustrates the Tories are a globalist, anti-British party just like Labour is though in their case more dishonest about it as they still seek to sickeningly wrap themselves in the Union Flag occasionally.
We want an end to anti-British globalism in ALL its forms not a continuation of it under ‘independence’.

As a matter of fact, Mike S comment 14, we don't have a surplus of energy; we're a net importer of energy although it varies throughout the seasons. Most of our fossil fuel imports come from non-EU sources which must mean that Macron's blackmail relates to electricity. We tend to export electricity via the interconnector in the summer months and import over the winter months. M Macron seems willing to do without the revenue in the winter months in order to inflict "lights out" on the UK and pay more for his electricity in the summer months (the direction of electricity flow is determined by price).

This is the moment I've been expecting: this is Macron's very own version of the Berlin Decree of 1806. It's a classic case of attempting to deliberately damage our economy.
Is this the worst punishment you can think of, Monsieur Macron, Monsieur Barnier & the EU? It ought to be met with gales of helpless laughter from the PM downwards.

Such peevish EU behaviour is yet another reason not to have any trade agreement whatsoever. The EU will build pitfalls and clauses open to interpretation in any agreement and then use them at our cost.
