Over two-thirds of the World sells to the EU on WTO terms - no 'trade deal', no demands

Last year 142 states sold the EU £1.2 trillion of goods, with no trade deal in sight

Only 69 states had any kind of ‘agreement’ - only a handful traded in any meaningful volume

A new Brexit Facts4EU.Org analysis of the latest trade figures from the EU for last year (2019) has shown how well the World has been selling to the EU without needing any kind of trade deal.

What kind of ‘agreements’ do the other 69 states have with the EU?

In producing the above information, Brexit Facts4EU.Org used the 2019 import data from the EU’s own statistics agency, Eurostat. We then took the list of countries with whom the EU claims to have some sort of ‘deal’ affecting tariffs, and subtracted these.

In doing this we were being generous to the EU. Some of these ‘trade deals’ are little more than agreements to cooperate on trade and are most certainly not ‘Free Trade Agreements’ of the type which the UK has been attempting to negotiate with the EU since the EU finally agreed to start talking in March of this year. We even included Japan, even though the EU’s trade deal wasn’t applied for the whole of 2019.

Observations

Pizzas, posturing, and parlaying

Yesterday evening large numbers of pizzas were delivered to Whitehall, as the UK-EU trade talks continued into the night. In the absence of real news from the talks, at least this gave the media commentariat something to chew on.

Above we have shown how most of the World sells successfully into the Single Market without any trade deal in sight. Indeed, the three biggest sellers into the EU account for €873 billion of sales between them. That’s 27% more than the combined total of sales into the EU of all the 69 states with which the EU claims to have some form of trade deal.

The Big Brexit Sell-Out is looming

Off-the-record sources are still telling us that Lord Frost and his team are ‘holding firm’. We do not doubt this. However we are now at the stage where political calculations and compromises will be made – in the EU27 capitals and at No.10.

Since before the EU Referendum Facts4EU.Org has stated clearly and publicly that the EU would never do a normal trade deal with the UK, for its extremist ideological reasons. We stand by this today.

We expect a ‘deal’ of some sort will be announced in the coming days. We further expect this to be a sell-out.

It could all have been so different...

If we had been in charge after 24 June 2016, we would have offered the EU a very generous “zero tariffs” trade deal, with full and unfettered sovereignty for the United Kingdom as an independent country, and would have let them think on that while we prepared for a WTO terms exit.

They demand more for the future arrangements because successive British Prime Ministers have been giving UK taxpayers money to them for decades. Hundreds of Billions of GBP, no wonder these bandits used to refer to us as Treasure Island.

Even now they think we need them more than they need us.
They also need to get a crap deal agreed to stop other EU countries wanting to leave.

So let’s look at your latest facts. According to the UN there are 193 countries in the world. Now, there is some wiggle room here about what is a country so let’s be generous and round it up to 200.
The EU has trade deals in place with more than 70 countries. Some of those deals cover multiple countries - like Mercosur. And that’s just full trade deals. There are other countries with whom the EU has agreements in place meaning that trade is not entirely on WTO terms. Like the US for example.
The EU is also negotiating trade deals with other countries with whom is does not have trade deals - like NZ and Australia.
So your research is wrong. Like most things published by Facts4EU it is simply untrue. But keep up with the lies because it means the people who still believe you have a nasty shock coming their way.

Yes, WTO was a British idea, and has been going since I was a child. Almost all countries trade with each other and the EU on WTO terms. Remainers tried hard to convince you that this was a new fangled scam, when it is a standard way of trading in the World.

This is a farce.
In 28 days the laughable 'transition' (vassalage) ends.
There are 8 official HoC (uni-party) sitting days left (Mon-Thurs - when they can be bothered to turn up/vote).
In the EU, any 'deal' must be passed by the Council & then the 'Parliament' (which can only 'officially' vote in Strasbourg), then ratified by 27 member countries. I have no idea when their organisations 'break up' for Christmas but must be similar to our HoC.
Does anyone seriously think that this will all be completed in the next 28 days? Does anyone think that the full details and implications of a 'deal' would be properly debated by the potemkin faux 'Parliament' that we have in the time available? Doesn't it have to be laid before the House 21 full sitting days before a vote?
This smacks to me, of a 'late' agreement & 'as we're so close, we'll just extend the transition phase'.
FGS, show some leadership & do as you are told. Announce WTO, repudiate the WA/PD (there's plenty of evidence that the EU have dealt in bad faith, as well as it breaching the GFA itself) & just leave. Do NOT concede a scintilla of the sovereignty that WE, the people, voted to take back. You (and I mean the whole Palace of Westminster) will NEVER be forgiven.
