Brexit Facts4EU.Org has researched advertising data from Facebook and Instagram for the last three months. It shows that for this one social media company alone, Remain groups are spending vast amounts on advertising, outspending Leave groups by more than 4 to 1.

One Remainer group on its own – ‘The People’s Vote’ - is spending at the rate of over £1m per year – and that’s just on Facebook and Instagram.

The data is only available since October, and only Facebook have made the figures available. The figures we have looked at therefore do not include Twitter and Google advertising. Based on our experience of a paid social media campaign, the figure relating to Facebook can safely be doubled to arrive at an overall spending rate on social media.

This would indicate an expenditure in the order of £4m per year in favour of groups wishing to overturn Brexit.

The ‘Go WTO’ social media campaign

Brexit Facts4EU.Org has organised a paid social media campaign for our #GoWTO initiative. Our budget is so low it will not even make it into the top 200 political advertisers on Facebook.

Conversely, ‘The People’s Vote’ is the top spender on political advertising, paying out an astonishing £251,842 in the last 14 weeks. They are followed by ‘Best for Britain’ – another anti-Brexit organisation – with a burn of £169,467 in the same period.

Some readers may ask where Leave Means Leave is in all of this. They spent only £3,114. Three-quarters of this was spent in the last week, to advertise their latest stage show in London at £10 per ticket.

Observations

When we started our advertising on Twitter and Facebook for the #GoWTO initiative we were met with a barrage of vitriol and abuse from Remoaners.

Aside from the profanity, the overriding message has been one question: Who is funding our #GoWTO campaign?

Our answer is simple. A few members of the public, and it’s a drop in the ocean compared to the massive expenditures from Remain campaigns.

If anyone has the right to ask about who is funding things, it should be Brexiteers. Let’s start with who is funding the millions being spent by the Remain campaigns?
