The EU Referendum was a national vote across the UK and all MPs were given an instruction by the people to leave the EU. This applies to those MPs who represent constituencies in the United Kingdom which voted predominantly to Remain as well as those which voted predominantly to Leave, as this was a vote by the United Kingdom as a whole.

In this article we look at those MPs who represent constituencies which voted to leave the EU

The MPs we have listed below not only wish to prevent an exit on 29 March without preconditions, they are also defying the decision of their own voters, as well as the manifesto commitments they stood on (with the exception of the 3 LibDems and the 1 Plaid Cymru MP). Many are even advocating another referendum.

In compiling this list we first considered those MPs who signed the letter from Dame Spelman (Con) and Jack Dromey (Lab) on 7 January, telling the Prime Minister :-

“We are united in our determination that the UK must not crash out of the EU without a deal”

This goes against the terms of Article 50 which they almost all voted for. It is also against the terms of the Withdrawal Act which the vast majority voted for last year.

We also looked at many other sources, to arrive at an understanding of the position of MPs. (See below for more information.)

This table is sorted by the most vulnerable MPs to a challenge – i.e. those with the slimmest majorities. And it only shows those MPs in constituencies with Leave majorities. This is why the "vulnerability ranking" column starts at No.4. The 3 most vulnerable seats are in fact Remain seats.

The full criteria we used for this list is as follows :-

Those MPs who refuse to back Brexit on a WTO World Trade Terms basis
Those who back the so-called “People’s Vote”
Those MPs who backed the motion two weeks ago which constrains the Government in spending money in the event of a WTO World Trade Brexit
Those who voted in favour of Mrs May’s non-Brexit Brexit – her Withdrawal Agreement
Public pronouncements by these MPs where they do not fully support Brexit

We must stress that this list of MPs is not yet exhaustive and we are continuing to look at MPs’ utterances, following which we may add more names above. We welcome comments from readers about their own MPs which contain facts relating to their Brexit position.

Observations

It is known to all that a large number of MPs are seeking to thwart Brexit, against the express instruction of the British people.

Today, after more than 30 man-hours of research, we have brought you our first list of those anti-democratic MPs who seek to thwart a true Brexit, and who represent constituencies which voted to Leave. They really have no excuse.

Readers will note that we have included MPs who support Mrs May’s disastrous non-Brexit Brexit, represented by her Withdrawal Agreement. We did this because it is such an atrocious deal that no self-respecting person who wants to deliver on the result of the Referendum could possibly back it.

Tomorrow we hope to publish an update to today’s list, as well as a list of all the anti-democratic MPs from constituencies which predominantly voted Remain, as they too have an obligation to deliver Brexit.

Thank you for this analysis. I had a short attempt at it yesterday (see comment 5) so appreciate the hard work you have put into this. Far more comprehensive and accurate than my research.
What I'd like to add is that if your MP is wholeheartedly backing Leave, then he/she might also appreciate some letters thanking him/her for the moral position they are taking - and to stand firm.

"The UK must not crash out of the EU without a deal” requires non forthcoming solutions.
Many of these MP's for whatever reasons they had thrashed the Withdrawal Agreement vote.
The withdrawal agreement is not a deal, but, as they should know it is the precursor to concluding a DEAL.
I am sure many of these MP's will not admit to it but their real desire is to remain in the EU by any means.

Member's of Parliament should feel proud to sit in the House of Commons along with the privileges they receive. MPs were elected by a majority of their constituents, AND THEY SHOULD REMEMBER THIS DETAIL?
The majority of MPs are going against the majority electorate after they were given a clear INSTRUCTION.
MPs must now earn back TRUST the electorate gives them, and I purposely suggest this because whilst they may say one thing for the cameras and their party, they appear to do the opposite on the quiet (though not all of them)?
This is not difficult - "Leave the European Union" won a democratic majority, and every MP knew what was happening as did the electorate, or do some MPs wish to continue insulting the intelligence of the electorate?
Should MPs wish to keep their taxpayer funded privilege, we will remember their conduct come local and general elections!

Thank you for your time researching this article. I've written to my MP (my constituency voted 60.13% Leave) and I will switch my vote to a pro-Brexit Conservative candidate unless he delivers the Brexit I voted for and his party pledged to deliver in their 2017 manifesto. My coal-miner grandfathers and trade unionist father will turn in their graves, but I will do it. I will also encourage my pro-Brexit friends, family and workmates to do the same.

Facts regarding my MP Anne Milton (Conservative Minister - Guildford; a Remain area): She voted to Remain. On 8th of Jan 2019 she resent out her circular letter of 6th Dec 2018 stating her position: She is not in favour of leaving on WTO rules. She floated the idea of rescinding article 50. She floated the idea of a 2nd referendum as 'may be the only responsible way forward' (she has also suggested previously that 3 options should be on the ballot paper, splitting the Leave vote). She wants a free vote on the draft agreement (she is a Minister so is compelled to vote with the Government).
She is usually very secretive about her position, and will do her best to hide this, and sit on the fence. However, although I doubt you will get her to admit it, she is doing her best to keep the people in the EU against the democratic vote to LEAVE.

My MP, Alex Burghart, who isn’t on here, voted for Teresa May’s utterly disgraceful non-Brexit so-called ‘withdrawal’ deal. Unfortunately, he is sitting on an absolutely huge vote share of 65% and has a percentage majority over Labour of 45% (the numerical majority being 24,002) which makes his constituency of Brentwood and Ongar the TENTH safest Tory seat in the country (in percentage majority terms it is just one seat below Teresa May’s Maidenhead). I believe he voted for the deal in order to con his constituents (who voted leave by 59% to 41% at least in the Brentwood Council area of his seat) into believing he supports leaving the EU and because he wants a job in government (he was previously an advisor to May). Brentwood and Ongar always gets left-liberal globalist Tory candidates for our MP (Eric Pickles who was our previous MP being that way inclined). Sadly, we are the kind of Tory ‘true Blue’ seat where the Conservative Party candidate could be a paedophile or an axe murderer and still win by a landslide.

We all know this is going on and my own treacherous MP Margot James is also missing from this list. But what can be done other than don't vote for them at the next elections and then it will be too late. We need positive action now but as nothing is being done we are going to end up without a Brexit and knee deep in EU shit.

Thankyou for this excellent list, i an happy to see there are a number of MP's local to me that i can help remove at the next election. we need to start a taskforce to remove these undemocratic people from their positions of power. I will also try and find out what other cush jobs these MP's have as directors etc and write to those companies to express my disgust, and where possible cease trading with those same companies.
Hope we can all get together and make this a group to fight for democracy
