It’s rare for the Brexit Facts4EU.Org team to get enthusiastic about yet another Brexit organisation

With the formation of Students for Brexit, we’re not only making an exception, we’re positively delighted.

Students for Brexit was founded last month by Robert Langley, a young man from a proud working-class northern family, and the organisation has quickly fast-tracked into a major pro-Brexit mouthpiece for students across the country.

Interview with Students for Brexit

Yesterday Brexit Facts4EU.Org interviewed the Chairman Robert and his Vice-Chair Ellie Varley, and here we bring you our take on the youngest, most vibrant, and most exciting voice in the Brexit community.

Students for Brexit

Robert Langley (Chairman) told us :-

“The apparent shyness of young leavers deeply concerned me.
“With the mobilisation of Remain groups pushing for a second referendum, it was obvious to me that unless young leavers were galvanised into action, our opportunity to secure an open and international UK would slip away, right from our grasp.”

Ellie Varley (Vice-Chair) told us :-

“I voted Remain in the Referendum. At the time I chose to do this because I was made to feel that it was the safest option from my peers at school.
“However I kept an open mind and always wanted to learn more about the EU. It soon became clear to me that the EU was a uncompromising, undemocratic organisation – not at all like I’d been taught.
“Having researched far more facts I’m now convinced that the UK has a really exciting future outside the EU. As a young person I’m excited by all the great possibilities ahead of us.”

About Students for Brexit

Students for Brexit (SfB) is a cross-party network of pro-Brexit students from universities across the UK who advocate a clean break from Brussels.

Their aim is to build a supportive community for like-minded young people. Pro-Brexit young people are chronically under-represented in the media, and they seek to change this. SfB believe that the outcome of the 2016 referendum MUST be respected, and they feel that it is their responsibility to stand up for our GLOBAL future.

Students for Brexit is a grassroots campaign founded by students, run by students, for students. They are currently self-funded but welcome donations.

Here are their aims:

“Whilst we believe that the most desirable way to leave the EU is by securing a deal, we are firm in our belief that any agreed deal must not bind the UK into a backstop, a customs union, or the Single Market.

“Therefore we would oppose any proposed deal which does not meet these principles.

“We recognise that in any negotiation there is a need for compromise, however we will not accept any agreement which compromises the constitutional integrity of the UK.

“We aren’t afraid of leaving the EU on World Trade Organisation rules. If a suitable deal cannot be negotiated we would then support leaving the EU on WTO terms and for a free-trade agreement to be negotiated at a later date.”

Observations

Generally we suggest that people considering forming new Brexit organisations should first see how they could amalgamate with existing groups.

In this case however we think Students for Brexit should do exactly what they’re doing. A party-neutral, pro-Brexit movement for the young people of the country who have independent minds and who will look at the facts of Brexit and the EU.

We are proud to support them and we hope our readers will too.

For those readers with children or grandchildren at college or university, Students for Brexit offers a vibrant alternative to the tired and discredited arguments of the old Remainers, as well as to the absurdities of the “Our Future Our Choice” young Remoaners.

We must be so proud of these young people! Warm congratulations and well done to Robert, Ellie, Jasper, Madeline and the rest of the team!
Young Remainers are over-presented by the media and we hardly ever hear about the young Brexiteers' side.
And here they are, these enquiring and open-minded, bright young people who are proudly standing their ground, even prepared to objectively examine and fact-check their judgements. I applaud this. This is a tough thing to do, especially in a heavily otherwise-influenced daily environment - and at the same time a great 'life-tool' for advancement and success.
You give us all hope and pride, thank you! My family and I are wishing you all the best.

Well done Robert and Ellie. There is plenty of 'evidence' of negative things about the eu, virtually on a daily basis. Very little if anything is ever said about the supposed benefits of being tied to an unelected bureaucratic nightmare!

It is with enormous pride I commend our young and talented people for coming into the open and forming their [studentsforbrexit] group to dispel the myth that all young people wish to remain in the failing EU (as opposed to the continent of Europe).
Being of the older generation, I continue to fight hard for Brexit, and to protect UK democracy. We MUST hold MPs to account to act on the democratic majority instruction they were given. We should never forget our forebears fought and died defending our country so that we, our children and grandchildren can enjoy the benefits of living in a great sovereign country which is an independent self governing coastal nation state. This was robbed from my generation.
I am thankful vice-Chair of studentsforbrexit.com Ellie Varley [aged 20yrs] wrote the following quote by former prime minister, and the late Rt Hon Margaret Thatcher and remember seeing Mrs Thatcher deliver that speech.
This shows young people do take an interest in their country and fully understand they don't wish to be governed by a foreign power.

NO, we don’t want an even more global future if that means YET MORE immigration which we’ve already had too much of and an increased level of economic globalism which the radical MARKET LIBERAL Mrs Thatcher used to deprive this country of an industrial base (though, saying that, whilst her globalist medicine was bad in its effects trade union leaders and some bosses in the 1970s made her enact them). We SHOULD be using a clean, full Brexit as an opportunity to set a new national course NOT repeating the mistakes of the past. I believe that part of the vote for Brexit certainly in many working -class communities like Sunderland was a cry for help from Westminster over their lack of jobs etc and they DID NOT vote for it because they were excited about free trade deals with the likes of ultra low workers cost VIetnam!
At least this new Scottish party recognises that for many the vote for Brexit was a vote AGAINST excessive globalisation: www.unionsovereignty.org.
Anti-EU groups banging on and on about ‘Global Britain’ nearly LOST the referendum!

When posting on Social media or talking on radio etc, can students for Brexit please make sure to deal in verifiable facts and data only? Forget the memes, slogans and the populist drivel.
If we want mindless slogans, platitudes and ‘my honest, middle class feelings’ about how everyone in Wales will be wealthier and happier outside the EU than in then we could just go read the Daily Express or tune into the Nigel Farage show or read the Telegraph,
I get that a 19 year old St Martin’s art student with parents earning 300k a year between them might feel “Brexit will be, like, so brilliant” but her feelings need to be backed up by facts and data.
If you’re an actual real student, working towards your degree, you will understand why I put the emphasis on verifiable facts and data rather than feelings, emotions, slogans or beliefs.
A 48 year old man working in the car industry, with three children to feed, is really not interested in your feelings or beliefs, students.
Forget the gushing, the memes, the bluster, the jolly hockey sticks, right wing rhetoric and “stockpiling optimism” - deal in facts and evidence or F.O.
