A one-pager on the most important campaign in years to save our country

For years, the British public have watched governments of all colours sign away sovereignty, ignore the will of the people, and negotiate deals behind closed doors. This has worsened quite dramatically since July 2024, when the new government accelerated this trend at speed.

Put simply, our nation now stands at a critical crossroads. The sovereignty of the United Kingdom – hard won and deeply cherished – is under threat as never before.

From fishing and food labelling to foreign policy, from defence and trade to immigration, and from Chagos and Gibraltar to Northern Ireland, key decisions affecting our national interest are being made behind closed doors — often with EU involvement, without any Parliamentary vote, and without public consent.

This is a direct betrayal of fundamental democratic accountability.

We're British. We will not kneel.

Enough is enough

Nowhere was this more obvious recently than with Gibraltar. A secretive deal with the EU and Spain, cooked up with no democratic oversight, triggered a widespread reaction. It wasn’t an isolated case – it was the latest in a pattern which included Chagos and the sovereignty of the waters surrounding our island nation.

Britain’s Sovereignty Is Being Undermined – Quietly, Relentlessly – And The Public Gets It

Ordinary citizens instinctively know something is wrong. We see ministers surrendering UK control while the public is being told nothing is happening. Emails we've received include phrases like “We were lied to”, “This is not what we voted for”, and “Enough is enough.”

The anger is real. So is the sense of helplessness. The ‘Stand for Our Sovereignty’ (SOS) campaign gives us all a voice — and a way to fight back.

This Campaign Is Different — We Can Win

Independent, non-partisan, speaking for all who believe in sovereignty and democracy

We already have support from influential Peers, former ministers, an ex-Prime Minister, and other senior figures
We have the credibility of having the most-prolific research platform on UK-EU relations, backed by the pedigree of the oldest-established independence organisation in the country
We’ve shown we can drive public engagement fast, reaching hundreds of thousands in days — with minimal resources

Imagine what we could do with proper funding

The Stand for Our Sovereignty campaign will:

Defend UK sovereignty from erosion by internationalist deals and secretive treaty-making
Expose actions taken by the current government that undermine democratic accountability
Inform and mobilise the British public through researched facts, media engagement, and volunteer activism
Make change possible - and inevitable

Overall we aim to slow the government’s moves using every means possible, including legal and parliamentary measures, and cause U-turns as have already been achieved in other policy areas.
In an open document such as this we are unable to say more about our strategy and tactics.

This is a battle not about nostalgia, but about the principle that in a democracy, sovereignty lies with the people. And the people are being bypassed and betrayed, as sovereignty is being surrendered.

This is a powerful, coordinated, strategic push to put sovereignty firmly back onto the national agenda — before it’s too late.

Who are the ‘Stand for Our Sovereignty’ campaign?

The ‘Stand for Our Sovereignty’ campaign (SOS) is a high-impact, grassroots-led initiative with national reach, launched by Facts4EU.Org and operating under the formal CIBUK (Campaign for an Independent Britain) umbrella.

We are pleased to have other groups which have endorsed the campaign and who we will be working alongside. We very much welcome the endorsement of as many organisations as possible who share the same concerns about sovereignty. It makes perfect sense to us to have a forum where we can all discuss tactics and plan what each other is doing, putting any sense of hierarchy to one side. The UK’s sovereignty — hard-won by vote and by historical events — is under stealth attack. Voters are being sidelined. Critical decisions are made behind closed doors, bypassing Parliament and public scrutiny.

It has astonished us just how many people feel the same way. They feel passionately about our sovereignty and want to see it protected and restored.

If that's you, and you think "Enough is enough", well we feel the same way. We are in the fortunate position of being able to do something about it, and that's what we've started doing. We're on our way - we now need millions to follow us. If every single person reading this signs up as a member right now, we really could do something special.

This is just the first step. We have a lot planned and some of it will involve you. There will be online and real meetings across the country and much more besides. We can't tell you everything now because obviously we want it all to come as a surprise to Sir Keir and his top team, as well as to all the international lawyers who seem to think the world revolves around them. It doesn't.

It doesn't matter which political party you support - or if you're politically homeless - as long as you believe in OUR sovereignty as a people, you will be made to feel very welcome!

"Stand for our Sovereignty", this is a vague statement.

Brexit has resulted in the UK being a rule taker. At least when the UK was in the EU we could drive, influence and determine the direction. As was always going to be the case it is Northern Ireland that will keep the UK tied to the EU.

As for "Sovereignty", what does it actually mean. That we can decide on who is Prime Minister, on who makes the rules. Boris Johnson was fired as PM to be replaced by Liz Truss who was fired to be replaced by Rishi Sunak. The people didn't decide to fire BJ and LT, it was politicians because it was parliament that had the power to do so. When Labour changed the winter fuel allowance and then put it back again, was that the peoples choice?

Sovereignty is about making our own rules, yet as members of WTO, the UN and the new CPTPP there are rules that we have to follow, so where is the Sovereignty.

The EU will continue to make rules of which we have no say but will impact our lives purely because the EU economy by GDP is 5.5 times larger than the UK. Recent examples are the tethered caps on drinks bottles and standrdised mobile phone chargers. Brexit has removed the UK from the decision process.

Whilst in the EU we were and always have been a Sovereign country. We chose to be in the EU because it was in the UK interest to do so. The new agreement around Gibraltar is a pragmatic solution, not necessarily perfect, but is in the interest of the citizens of Gibralter to make the agreement and bring an end to the uncertainty that Brexit created.

The call for a "Stand for our Sovereignty" is in essence, as far as Brexit is concerned, a desperate attempt to keep the dream alive. YouGov has published their latest survey re Brexit with breakdown by age, demographics etc. Bregret remains high because Brexit hasn't worked.
