As we prepare to take on Whitehall’s mandarins again next week, here’s what you should know
Last week we published a report on behalf of England’s beautiful, defenceless wild animals and in particular the Dartmoor pony.
Given splash coverage by GB News, it seems we are annoying the powers-that-be at one of DEFRA’s quangos, Natural England. They have released a statement – which they put out ahead of our publication – in which they deny everything. (For those who don't know, we frequently have to give a 'right of reply' in advance.)
Brexit Facts4EU and our colleagues at CIBUK and SOS are now preparing a second report, at the request of GB News, examining the quango’s denials.
Spoiler alert: Natural England does not come out of next week's report well.

Why write about ponies?
For readers who ask “What’s this got to do with the EU?” we would simply remind everyone that our mission has always included independence, sovereignty, democracy and freedom.
In this case, there are strong echoes of the autocratic and dictatorial style of the EU Commission in the way the bureaucrats in London are dealing with the people who actually live and work in some of the country’s most beautiful places. It is almost as if they long for the good old days when they were able to say “EU rules, nothing we can do about it.”
The mindset is still there. If we genuinely still want to ‘take back control’ of the country, this must be defeated. Here we have an iconic and beautiful animal, the wild or semi-wild pony, which has grazed our common land for generations immemorial – certainly since the Bronze Ages and quite possibly earlier.
David and Goliath
We are taking on a monolith, as usual. Natural England employs almost 3,000 people, with its directors and senior managers on large, six-figure salaries and all the perks which go with that.
Meanwhile our small team struggles to survive from one day to the next. All of us could be on good salaries if we chose to stop the fight. Can you please help to fund us to prevent this appalling genocide and put a stake in the ground?
The week after next, we also have a major two-part report in preparation for the 10th anniversary of the Brexit vote. Right now, with our resources, we don’t know how we are going to do that justice.
