For our weekenders, an ‘in case you missed it’ with some important new information

Our report on Thursday morning entitled “Burnham Boxed-in over Brexit” has turned out to be our biggest report so far this year. Not only was it popular with readers of Brexit Facts4EU and those of our associates at The Campaign for an Independent Britain and Stand for Our Sovereignty, it also caused a stir amongst GB News readers too. It made it to the No.2 slot on the GB News homepage as well has leading the news on the main Politics page.

In this short weekend retrospective, we summarise for the benefit of those who missed it, as well as providing some tantalising peaks at what we have coming up for readers.

“What’s it all about, Andie?”

This explosive piece was centred around a suite of five of our famous ‘at-a-glance’ charts, which we referred to as ‘The Boxed-In Set’.

‘The Facts4EU Burnham Boxed-In Set’

The charts provide a fundamental sweep of five key measures showing that the UK economy has performed remarkably well following the EU Referendum. Amongst other achievements it has outpaced the EU’s Top 3 of Germany, France and Italy, for example.

These five definitive charts above show that
since the EU Referendum, in real terms:

  • The economy continues to grow, and has outperformed the EU’s largest
  • GDP per head of population has risen
  • Far more people are in work
  • Our exports are up significantly
  • And businesses are investing for the future at a higher rate

Against this devastating backdrop for Rejoiners everywhere, we contrasted these official, publicly-available data with the views of our wannabe Prime Minister, Andy Burnham, the recently elected MP for Makerfield.

We quoted him from as recently as last autumn, but could have chosen many other quotations.

In trying to win over the good people of Makefield, who voted overwhelmingly to leave the EU, naturally Mr Burnham rowed back vehemently during the by-election campaign.

We doubt this fooled anyone but at least his protestations that he accepted the Referendum result were enough to allow many to swallow hard and vote for him.

For the rest of us, we will only have his words to throw back at him when he pursues the disastrous ‘EU Re-Set’ started by his soon-to-be predecessor, Sir Keir Starmer. This Re-Set is akin to rejoining large parts of the EU ‘acquis’, in all but name. In effect: "Rejoin by stealth and deception".

We left Mr Burnham with a challenge

Here is the final question we asked

“Given that all the basic, overall measures are positive, Mr Burnham,
how can you say Brexit has caused any economic damage?”

The report itself goes into more detail about this and other questions, insisting on various criteria we asked him to follow. As we had left him with ‘nowhere to go’, we did not expect a response and we were not disappointed.

Ammunition for our politicians

We invited several key politicians to take a look at our report, for two reasons. Firstly, this kind of nicely-summarised information is useful to them as they fight on against the aggressive lurch of this government to align ever more closely with the EU.

Secondly, we believe readers like to know the thoughts of those in positions where they can effect change. We chose one from the House of Commons and one from the Lords.

Both Richard Tice MP, Deputy Leader of Reform UK, and Lord Redwood, former Single Market Minister, were gracious in giving their time and we are grateful to them.

Observations
