As Prime Minister Starmer finally declares war on Brexit, so Brexit Facts4EU officially declares war on his Government.

At today’s Munich Security Conference, Sir Keir Starmer will describe a Britain in an EU world and will effectively close the door on the US and the Rest of the World. Here is part of his speech:

We have also looked back further, to June 2016 when the largest democratic vote in British history took place. We are including this as as it covers a period of almost 10 years, which mitigates the effects of the Covid-19 lockdowns on the economy.

Looking back to UK business investment since the EU Referendum
12 months pre-Referendum compared to the last 12 months

The 12 months leading up to the EU Referendum (Jul 2015 – Jun 2016): £266.50 billion
The last 12 months (Oct 2024 – Sep 2025): £304.13 billion
Increase: 14.1%

And this is what the PM declares war on?

In a typically cowardly and globalist approach, Sir Keir will not say any of this at home. Instead he will be in Munich, amongst globalist friends. Older readers will remember Munich, the German city a former Prime Minister returned from, declaring “peace in our time”.

According to No.10, Starmer will add:

“We must level with the public and build consent for the decisions we will have to take to keep us all safe. Because, if we don’t, the peddlers of easy answers on the extreme left and the extreme right are ready. They will offer their solutions instead.”

The quotes by Starmer are about defence not economics and on this he is right. There are now clear doubts about whether the UK can rely on the USA to help defend Europe which includes the `UK.

As for the economic impact of Brexit it is clear it has been negative, for latest see London Economic from 6 days ago or search the ONS for UK Investment 2008 to date or UK trade in goods. The UK economy has been held up by its strong services trade despite being restricted by Brexit, see BCC "the reality of UK services trade post Brexit".

The EU has poured more into Russia than it has Ukraine since the start of the invasion, so I'm not convinced about their reliability.

Meanwhile Starmer's 'New Media Unit' has an eye watering £13.2 million budget to propagandise the activity of the government.

Maybe the whole reason they want to get rid of him is to install a PM who will be much less tentative in stating the aim of rejoining.
Certainly I can't think of a likely replacement who is not a EU enthusiast.

I wouldn't worry too much about it.
Two Tier certainly isn't going to stand aside (or be deposed) before the May elections.
Then if he doesn't go willingly it would take someone of courage to challenge him, and those in the PLP have all been revealed to be spineless

Should he actually be deposed there will need to be a leadership contest.
The last one took 3 months from opening nominations to Starmer winning
So, August before a new leader is crowned.
That means 3 years max before a General Election HAS to be held
.
A new leader will still be bound by the manifesto on which the party was elected
Labour specifically ruled out re-joining the EU and customs union in their 2024 manifesto, so would have to seek a new mandate from the electorate in order to do so.
That would have to be by General Election or referendum.
.
If General Election they would be odds on to lose
If referendum they would have to introduce a bill to parliament to instigate one.
The 2016 bill took 7 months to pass, and this time the Tories in the Lords may be whipped to block it's passage

So Tik tok - 2 years to election
(Assuming it would be at the top of the Parliamentary agenda).
