Good news: The public mood is turning into public action

Facts4EU has started receiving a higher level of donations again
This is a sign of people wanting a voice that carries influence

We are a long way from being fully-funded, but the signs are positive

In the 10 years of our existence we have gone through many good times and bad times. When we were fighting to win the Referendum, people happily donated, knowing no organisation was working harder to deliver a Leave vote.

Oh, the joy in those early hours of 24 June 2016 when it started to become obvious we had won! And the delicious feeling when watching David Dimbleby on the BBC, in the moment he was finally forced to called it for Leave. Back then, people had donated generously and we had been able to achieve so much with a great team all working together.

Since then, we’ve had many ups and downs, and to be honest these were mostly downs. Our donation levels each month kept falling. Even though we knew we had so much to do to fight off the Remainiacs attempts in Parliament to reverse the vote, it seemed that people felt they had done their bit. We survived, but the team inevitably shrank as we had less and less money to compensate team members for the ridiculous number of hours they were putting in.

The present day

Regular readers will know that last week we had to announce a further reduction to just 2-3 days a week of publishing. This still meant 7-day a week working for the very, very few who are left, and ridiculous hours for our Chairman, as each of our daily reports takes much longer to research, write, code up, and promote than people think.

So what’s new?

This weekend we sent out a newsletter, with short summaries of a few of our interesting pieces from January. Lo and behold, some new donations started coming in! And a couple of these were very generous! (We count anything over £10 per week as being generous and anything over £50 per week as being very generous.)

We also had some smaller, one-off donations and we value these too, as we know some people simply can’t afford to give very much at all. The important thing is that each of these people seems to recognise we are at a turning point in our country’s history once again.

We can’t get too excited

Unfortunately, this weekend’s events do not get us out of the woods. We need many more people to donate in order to restore the team to a decent strength. However, if you donate now, you will know you are joining many other people on the winning side!

Please, please, do what you can. We have tens of thousands of people who see our best reports. Sometimes this runs into hundreds of thousands, as it did a couple of weeks ago. If we could only persuade 1,000 readers to give £3 or £5 per month, it would make a big difference. To restore us fully to a combat-ready, truly effective team fighting in the public arena and behind the scenes in Parliament, it would take these people giving £10-£25 per month, but we can dream….

Having political parties starting to be popular in saying the right things is very encouraging, but we can hit large numbers of floating voters which they can’t. And – let’s face it – some of our reports get the points across in a powerful, persuasive, and punchy way, which the parties don’t always seem able to do!
