In this strange world, it’s vital to get some ‘normal views’ out there

Here is how we are trying to rescue the UK from wokery and daft ideas

How two organisations with traditional values are standing up, and why you should help them

Yesterday, Stand for our Sovereignty (SOS) with assistance from the Brexit Facts4EU.Org team published a report on an overlooked aspect of the immigration crisis enveloping our country. So extraordinary was this report that we discussed it in advance with the editors at GB News.

It involved a 1000% increase in migrants claiming to be victims of ‘modern slavery’. It was this claim that made the news when an Eritrean used it at the last minute to prevent his deportation on a flight to France. The Home Secretary, Shabana Mahmood, promptly launched an appeal, but the judges at the Court of Appeal backed the original judgement and she lost.

Intrigued, we and the Stand for Sovereignty team decided to look into this area of immigration law. Both teams are used to being shocked by data relating to immigration – as are the public when we report it – but this data really took our breaths away. In the last 11 years for which there are reliable figures from the Home Office, we found that the number of cases of ‘modern slavery’ claims had risen by 1025%. Furthermore we found that in the last quarter alone, thousands of claims had been made for offences which allegedly took place in 130 other countries, including those of EU member countries.

The fifth-ranked was France, which Sir Keir Starmer and Yvette Cooper are pinning their hopes on, with the infamous ‘one in, one out’ deal with President Macron.

Investigative, original work takes time

Most readers will understand that reports such as the one yesterday take a considerable amount of time to research and prepare. Then there are charts to produce and royalty-free imagery to find, before anyone can think of coding up the report in a way that makes it look attractive to read.

All this effort would be in vain, however, if few got to see it. We use social media channels, naturally, but the icing on the cake is if one of the national media runs with the story. Even building relationships with good journalists takes time, as they are under as much pressure as we are. Yesterday once again the fruits of our labour paid off. GB News ran the story prominently in their digital edition, as well as on TV.

We then appeared on TV for the first time in the afternoon

Here is one of the two Vice-Chairmen of Stand for Our Sovereignty and CIBUK’s Director of Communications, Ben Philips, going through the report with GB News’ Martin Daubney.

Coverage continues throughout the afternoon, with our report being mentioned on several occasions.

The Modern Slavery Debate

At around 5.30pm, the show’s host Martin Daubney then hosted a debate. Representing Stand for Our Sovereignty and Brexit Facts4EU.Org was Rob Bates, the excellent Research Director of the Centre for Migration Control. We asked him to do this, having known him for some time.

Members of both teams have always reached out to others involved in what we would characterise as the ‘normal’ side, representing the values and ideals of the majority of the public. Once again, it takes time to build relationships of trust and to work together, but in the end we have found the effort pays off, as in this case. Rob was an excellent exponent of the issues involved, as you will see if you watch the video below.

As usual, Martin Daubney did a first-class job as moderator of the debate, keeping it on track where necessary.

This is just one example

Both organisations – Stand for Our Sovereignty and Brexit Facts4EU.Org have appeared in the national media many times before, and not only on GB News but in newspapers such as the Daily Express and others. We would like to think our work has helped to ‘shift the dial’.

Now here comes the rub. Both organisations are virtually penniless. Any income gets used almost as soon as it comes in. We rely 100% on people like you, deciding that yes, we are worth backing. Yes, it would be tragic if we were not there publishing every week, rebutting nonsense from the other side, and generally promoting traditional British values.

This is therefore a special appeal. Please join Stand for Our Sovereignty now. It’s quick and easy and your information is fully protected. Standard Sovereign Membership costs £12 per annum, which equates to about 3p per day. You can join (or make a one-off donation) here.

Facts4EU also has a quick and simple online donation system, equally secure. We badly need more regular monthly donors, even if it’s only £3 per month. If you can afford more then of course we can assure you the money is used as if it’s our own. Every penny is spent wisely.

Don't leave this to someone else. You are that 'someone else'.

For both organisations, there are no lunches out, limos, or other expenses. We make every pound go as far as possible. Please, please do something to help today. Thank you.

Observations

We would like to thank Martin Daubney for once again covering an important story on the TV side og GB News. Our thanks also go to Adam Chapman, one of the best editors on the digital side of their business. And finally, we would of course like to say thank you to Rob Bates of the Centre for Migration Control, for agreeing to take part in the debate at relatively short notice.

Please, please help us to carry on our vital work in defence of independence, sovereignty, democracy and freedom by donating today. Thank you.
