Revealed : Starmer’s plan to solve migration crisis? Do what the EU wants
Here's what Starmer was agreeing in Denmark, when he had to fly home after Manchester horror

Despite pre-agreement to “Take an unequivocal approach to returns”, he returned emptyhanded
On Thursday, the Prime Minister was out of the country – again – when news came through of the appalling antisemitic terror attack which rocked the UK. The details of his visit to Copenhagen were therefore unsurprisingly buried as the details came in and then dominated the news agenda for the remainder of the day. Given the headline reason for his visit was primarily about illegal immigration, we and Stand for Our Sovereignty are bringing you the details now.
The PM was in Denmark to meet with the EU27 leaders plus various hangers on from the EU Commission and EU Council, and leaders of some smaller countries, to agree:
“a number of steps to be taken collectively to help manage the complex challenges of illegal migration.”
- EU Commission, 02 Oct 2025
The key takeaways summarised in this report
- Sir Keir’s presence was not required for the agreement to be released at the end of the day
- The process – How these large gatherings really work
- If they agreed to “Take an unequivocal approach to returns”, why did Sir Keir not get one single country to take theirs back from the UK?
- Sir Keir agreed to continue respecting supranational bodies, e.g. ECHR, Refugee Convention, IOM, UNHCR
- What was Sir Keir doing there at all?
The process – How these gatherings really work
As always with such large gatherings, it was mostly ceremonial for the cameras as the details of the final statement had been agreed in advance and were released immediately the conference ended.
Sir Keir Starmer was therefore able to indulge in the ritual of being filmed as his motor cavalcade arrived, filmed again doing the corridor walk, where he could choose which of the journalists calling out questions he would stop for (he chose Ch4), then the on-stage welcome greeting by his host, and finally the shot of all the leaders sitting around an impossibly large table.

Typically, attendees at these events seek to have a quiet talk with one or two other leaders in short side meetings, where they have a specific interest in agreeing a certain matter. This can be where the interesting business takes place. In this case, that might have been, for example, the PM wishing to buttonhole President Macron and ask him simply to take back the 180,000 illegal migrants he has sent to the UK in the last seven years.
The problem with this idea is that although it might be enough to save the premiership of the most unpopular Prime Minister in British history, it would have the opposite effect on the most unpopular President in French history.
Below is the official line on the conference.
Summary from the official statement
EU Commission, Brussels, 02 October 2025
They underlined the need for a ‘whole-of-route approach', and for innovative solutions to keep pace with the ever-evolving challenges of illegal migration. They committed to support one another in their efforts, along the following key themes:
Take the strongest action against smugglers and secure our borders: ensuring that law enforcement have the powers, data and capabilities to work across borders to target this threat and its enablers effectively, and to manage our external borders. And work together on new ways to target smuggling gangs, such as the use of sanctions regimes.
Ensure our legislative frameworks and asylum systems are robust: protecting against exploitation, deterring those trying to undermine our systems, and ensuring international frameworks, including the European Convention on Human Rights and the Refugee Convention, are implemented in a way that safeguards against abuse and so that governments can tackle modern challenges.
Take an unequivocal approach to returns: developing common principles using all the tools available - including diplomatic and visa leverage - to enact efficient and effective returns. And forge new and innovative partnerships, including with third countries, to accelerate processing and alleviate domestic pressures.
Strengthen migration management at the earliest opportunity: working with countries at source and on transit routes, including supporting the work and mandate of agencies like the IOM and UNHCR, on initiatives spanning themes like development, job creation, education, and voluntary returns, to deliver on mutually beneficial partnerships.
Put innovation at the heart of migration reform: recognising that without a system-wide shift in how we approach this issue we will not be able to secure our borders effectively. New frameworks, partnerships, capabilities and pilots that are fair, regulated and fit for the future need to be taken forward to undermine the smuggling gangs' model and limit illegal migration
They agreed to “Take an unequivocal approach to returns”, so why did Sir Keir return emptyhanded?
Apparently, all of the leaders present were happy to agree to “Take an unequivocal approach to returns”. This sounds like an ideal result for Sir Keir and indeed for the United Kingdom. Unfortunately it seems that this accord does not apply to the 180,000 illegal migrants who spent time in the countries of the leaders attending, and in particular all those who spent time in the country of President Emmanuel Macron.
Sir Keir failed to get any agreement from a single country to take these illegal migrants back from the UK. Even when the UK was a member of the EU and participated in the ‘Dublin Agreement’, the UK took back far more illegal migrants from EU countries than they agreed to take from the UK, and the net effect was an increase in immigration.

Continuing to respect and submit to supranational bodies
Perhaps one of the more revealing parts of the agreement is where it refers to supranational bodies and “protecting against exploitation, deterring those trying to undermine our systems, and ensuring international frameworks, including the European Convention on Human Rights and the Refugee Convention…” etc.
The British people made it very clear in a YouGov poll several months ago that they do not wish to submit to international bodies.

The mood is now very obviously that Britain should act in her own interests as an independent country. This is of course one of the primary missions of Brexit Facts4EU, as it is for those teams with which we are associated: The Campaign for an Independent Britain (CIBUK), Stand for Our Sovereignty (SOS), and The UK Fisheries Campaign (UKFC).
It is therefore disappointing to see our Prime Minister once again reverting to type and feeling most comfortable in an environment where globalist politicians are spouting such unpopular and increasingly outdated mantras.
Observations
Finally, what was Sir Keir doing there at all?
We would make the final point that as Jewish people at prayer in their own country were being attacked by a knife-wielding Islamist extremist who had come to Britain as a Syrian migrant when younger, our Prime Minister was once again off on his travels.
This was his 29th international trip since being elected. Perhaps if he focused a little more on staying in the country he governs and listening to its people, he might not be quite as unpopular as he is.
