Facts4EU congratulates GB News on overtaking BBC and Sky News in key time-slots last month

On Friday last week (01 Aug 2025) the broadcast ‘viewership’ and advertisers organisation, Barb, released its figures for the month of July, showing GB News at the top of the news channel viewership numbers for the first time.

The ‘official’ ratings agency shows GB News pulled in an average audience of more than 80,000 per day in July (80,600), beating BBC News on 78,700 and leaving Sky News trailing some distance behind, on just 67,000.

Ben Briscoe, head of programming at GB News

“This is a seismic moment, not just for us, but for British broadcasting. We are ending the dominance of the BBC News channel and Sky News.”

Coming only six weeks after marking its fourth birthday, the entire GB News team – broadcast and digital – led by Editorial Director Mick Booker and Head of Programming Ben Briscoe, have a second summer celebration worthy of note. To reach the age of four in the fast-moving media world was even more impressive considering the channel is still subject to a disgraceful ban by the majority of major TV advertising agencies.

The fact that GB News is now celebrating for the second time this summer owes a great deal to the determination of its main financial backers, Paul Marshall and Legatum, as well as to the enthusiasm of its presenters and editorial staff.

Michael Booker, GB News editorial director:

“We’re now firmly on track to achieve our ambition of becoming the UK’s biggest news channel by 2028.

“GB News is winning because it is different, and because we place the community at the heart of everything we do. We focus on the stories that matter most to our audience and, as a result, our bold, fearless journalism is reaching more people than ever.”

It isn't only TV where GB News is scoring. Over the first three months of 2025, the official numbers from RAJAR show the GB News radio audience increased by 22.9% year-on-year, with 559,000 weekly listeners.

Head of programming Ben Briscoe again:

“The unstoppable growth of GB News Radio is continuing with the People’s Channel breaking new records across the board. Every day, more and more people are turning to GB News Radio to get the latest and breaking news."

It is of course TV which gets the most attention, and all at GB News are delighted with the fact that the new TV station beat the Beeb and Sky News on the major slots each day, from the breakfast to the primetime evening shows, as well as the Sunday morning political programme with Camilla Tominey.

Brexit Facts4EU has two celebrations on dates which almost match those of GB News

By happy coincidence, Facts4EU has also enjoyed two reasons to celebrate this summer, although as with GB News neither of these is for financial reasons.

Just before GB News’ fourth birthday, we announced the launch of Stand for Our Sovereignty, the major organisation campaigning for an end to the continual surrenders of the UK’s sovereignty by this government. This launch was announced exclusively on GB News.

Our first major initiative to highlight the Product Marking Bill which puts “Not for EU” packaging labels on products sold within GB was our most popular messaging for 12 months. An exclusive on GB News, this was apparently also the most popular political piece on their website in some time. Then came our second major campaign, which GB News also covered in full.

Don't leave this to someone else. You are that 'someone else'.

Last week we hit over 600,000 voters with our messaging on the piece below

Just like GB News with their fourth birthday and then the triumphant news about overtaking BBC News, Facts4EU followed up the first success with a second initiative, launched on 30 July, which then beat the previous 12 month record. This time we exposed another exclusive, giving GB News first sight of it before we then published just after they did.

With the - by now - fast-growing Stand for Our Sovereignty (SOS) campaign, we revealed a document from the Department of Transport which clearly outlines the government’s intention for the car industry to follow EU regulations throughout the UK, rather than only in Northern Ireland as at present. There could hardly have been more conclusive proof of how it is Sir Keir’s intention for us to be subject once again to EU laws and regulations across our daily business and personal lives.

The difference, of course, is that this time we will be paying and obeying, but with no say and no vote.

This is why it is essential to have a professional, well-funded organisation to research and publicise what is really going on with the systematic destruction of UK sovereignty on so many levels. That organisation is Stand for Our Sovereignty (SOS). It already has the support of a large number of senior politicians and legal experts.

It has battle-hardened troops on stand-by. Crucially, it has the plans to take on and slow down Sir Keir’s sovereignty surrenders and – we hope – to U-turn on some, as he has already done on around half-a-dozen of his least popular policies.

All it suffers from is that perennial British problem : lack of investment

We strongly urge readers to visit the SOS website, to join, and to tell their friends and family about it and urge them to do the same.

To allow Facts4EU to continue its mission we also ask readers to dig deep and make a regular donation to us, so that we can at least make it to our 10th birthday this autumn.

And finally, you could do a lot worse than sign up for membership of the GB News site. Not only do you get access to a lot of extra content, but they also offer specials from time to time, like online neetings with presenters, etc. (And no, we don't get any commission from them, sadly!)

Observations

What you have read above is a good news story. Goodness knows, we could all do with more like this, couldn’t we? Good news for GB News, good news for Brexit Facts4EU, and very good news for Stand for Our Sovereignty.

In all cases, the only thing holding back these organisations is the difficulty in securing a reasonable income to keep all of this going and to build on it.

GB News had to put a lot of their digital (website) content behind a paywall, to compensate for the lack of revenues when the major advertising agencies decided to boycott them because of a part of that industry's woke and outdated political views. Quite what the ad agencies’ big clients think about this is a good question. Certainly some of these large clients are going to have to answer to their shareholders as to why they are not promoting their wares on such a popular TV Channel.

It is well worth paying the monthly paywall subscription to be able to read all of GB News’ content. Here's the link so you can take a look and decide. A lot of it you will not be able to read elsewhere. Think of it as a way of snubbing the big advertisers and their activist, political, and out of touch views.

"Why aren't you behind a paywall?"

At Facts4EU we are always being told we should put our content behind a paywall. In the last nine years we have never done this, on the basis that a lot of it is just too important to be hidden from people. Instead we have relied on some readers’ generosity in making donations. The bulk of the cost of running Facts4EU has had to be subsidised by our Chairman but unfortunately this has almost been used up and after our 10th birthday we will have to stand on our own feet. This will mean a dramatic reduction in output, but it seems that this is inevitable.

Our independence, sovereignty, democracy and freedoms hanging by a thread

A big test is whether Stand for Our Sovereignty is able to secure funding. If it can, it will be a major force, supporting all those in positions of power who want to get our country back. We know from the responses to its first campaigns that millions of people want this. As ever, though, only a tiny fraction will give anything to support it financially. Like Brexit Facts4EU, its life hangs in the balance.

Wouldn’t it be wonderful if this good news story had a happy ending? Or several of them. Imagine if Brexit Facts4EU and Stand for our Sovereignty suddenly saw a major increase in donations and memberships? Imagine if GB News saw a big increase in paid subscribers to its excellent Membership Community, with all its unique content? (A regular part of which is supplied by Facts4EU.) Millions of people would get to see the truth denied to them by organisations like the BBC.

And maybe, just maybe, we would then see the real stirrings of a concerted fightback and the dawn of a fundamental reset of our great country. Now that really is a positive note to end on. The rest, dear reader, is over to you, and millions like you……

Please, please help us to carry on our vital work in defence of independence, sovereignty, democracy and freedom by donating today. Thank you.
