Brexit Britain’s global exports soar by nearly 40% since leaving the EU

Total UK exports climb by £240 billion in just four years, defying Project Fear completely

Latest official figures show just how well the country is doing, now it’s independent

Yesterday (26 Apr 2024) the latest trade figures were released by the Office for National Statistics. As the ONS produced no narrative to accompany them, the Brexit Facts4EU.Org team has done the analysis overnight and can reveal the excellent news to our readers. The UK’s global exports have risen by 38.4% since leaving the EU, to a total of £864.5 billion last year (2023).

We have looked at exports of both goods and services and the picture for globally-facing Brexit Britain is very rosy. The results once again show that the UK is prospering outside the EU, despite all the apocalyptic threats from the Remain camp before the EU Referendum.

When reviewing the latest trade figures in detail, we were unable to find any bad news at all. Despite all the headwinds from Covid-19 and from the oil price hike caused by Putin’s illegal invasion of Ukraine, the UK’s exports continue to surge.

As usual, readers will see nothing about this if they still watch BBC news, which is partly why there are apparently many people who continue to wish to rejoin the EU. Once again Brexit Facts4EU calls out the nation’s state broadcaster for its abject failure to present any positive news about the performance of Brexit Britain on the world stage.

We also call out the current Foreign Secretary, Lord David Cameron, the former Chancellor George Osborne, and the entire British and global Establishments for their wholly-unjustified fear-mongering prior to the EU Referendum.

Increase in trade since 2020. Wonder what happened in 2020 to cause that to happen?

Frost has been doing interviews this week, talking about the need to “defend” Brexit rather than treat it as “an embarrassing secret”, and the lie that the Northern Ireland Protocol was only “temporary” and that the Windsor Framework should either be re-negotiated or unilaterally dropped.

The rejoiner blob always knew that the UK would do just fine outside EU membership, But that's not what they wanted.
What terrible people would willfully lie to the nation to further their own agenda's.

The trade numbers are going up year on year. Its exciting to see where they will level out.
Of course having our own trade policy is better than letting the EU do it for us, That's just common sense.

As usual you ignore all the data, retreat into your own delusional world and enter a state of complete denial. If you look at the data it does not matter where your starting point is, 2016, 2019, 2021 the figures show impressive growth in exports. This is confirmed by the fact that the UK went from the world's 7th largest exporter in 2021 to the world's 4th largest exporter in 2023. The fact that the growth has been driven by high value service exports demonstrates that leaving the EU was essential so we could concentrate on establishing trade deals that suit our economy.

I am not a supporter of the Windsor Protocol but the simple fact is the Northern Ireland Economy grew twice as fast as the EU economy in 2023.

I'm just wondering why the NI electorate were not given the chance to vote on if it agreed to changes in the constitution in regard to Acts of the union 1800 article 6. something that could not happen if the UK had a codified constitution.

The Northern Ireland Protocol, which is part of the Withdrawal Agreement Act, has overridden certain aspects of the Act of Union. Specifically, the High Court of Northern Ireland ruled that parts of Article 6, as it applied to the UK, were “impliedly repealed” by the passage of the European Union (Withdrawal) Act 2020. This decision was subsequently upheld on appeal by the Supreme Court of the United Kingdom

RE Northern Ireland, on 1 June 2016 VoteLeave issued a statement by Michael Gove, Boris Johnson, Priti Patel, and Gisela Stuart in which they stated
"There will be no change to the border between Northern Ireland and the Republic."

Good piece on ITV yesterday re the additional border checks for imports from the EU and the impact on food inflation.

Meanwhile Ann Widdecombe tells a conference win NI re the Union re the referendum “Then I knew that people were uniting in a cause – and that cause was Brexit. And now, we have all united – whatever our differences may be. We can all unite in a cause and that cause is the Union”. What planet is she on!!

I agree with you comments that Northern Ireland should have had a vote on the Windsor Framework.

I don't know what the latest trade figures shown as they seem to take a long time to release their trade figures. If you exclude The Republic of Ireland Northern Ireland has never exported much to the rest of the EU it's only about 10% of their external sales. Traditionally their approximate external sales are:

Great Britain 50%
ROI 20%
ROW 20%
Rest EU 10%

Their exports to ROI have increased recently but GB's exports to the ROI has also increased so I do not believe their growth has anything to do with their trading Status.
