“The recent local election disaster for the Conservatives and the dire polling leading into the local elections are a reflection of the disunity in the Conservative Party caused by the 1922 committee and MPs in removing two sitting Prime Ministers and installing a leader rejected by the members.
“You cannot expect any political party to be successful if you ignore and disenfranchise its members and treat them with contempt. Which is what has happened to the Conservative Party in the last year.
“There is only one way the Conservative Party can turn this whole mess around and that is to listen to the members and start to rebuild the party from the grassroots upwards. Otherwise the Conservative party will be out of power for a generation and the blame will lay firmly at the feet of the Conservative Parliamentary Party.”

CDO's Chairman, former MEP David Campbell Bannerman, also spoke to us exclusively:

"This is a ground breaking event. It is the official launch of the Conservative Democratic Organisation (CDO) and will empower Conservative members to take control back of their party and end relentless centralisation.
"Central Office has acted far too much like a mini EU - taking away powers from members and not being responsible to them for their actions. Members have been treated with contempt. We need urgent democratic change to save and reinvigorate the party; especially in the light of yet more disastrous local election results."

The CDO's launch line-up is impressive

Facts4EU has obtained the agenda for the conference on Saturday and it certainly is full. There will be all manner of discussions on various aspects of policies and of party democracy and the list of speakers in these sessions is impressive.

There will even be a guest appearance by video of former Prime Minister the Rt Hon Boris Johnson MP.

About the CDO

The CDO says their mission is to strengthen party democracy by ensuring the Conservative Party is representative of the membership and fairly represents their views, and to re-enfranchise Conservative Party members to be the masters of their own democratic destiny.

In addition to several other aims, they believe “Constituency Associations should have the right to determine who their Parliamentary Candidate and Member of Parliament is and if necessary, deselect their MP.” They also wish to see the Party’s Leader being chosen by the grassroots membership again – and not by MPs.

To reiterate, Facts4EU is non-partisan and this is not an official Conservative Party event. If supporters of the Labour Party or the LibDems ran a conference like this, with pro-Brexit speakers, we would happily promote them. And to be very clear, Facts4EU has received absolutely nothing from CDO for publicising their conference. We simply ask any readers who decide to attend to tell the organisers they read about the event here, as this helps our overall reputation.

We must get reports like this out there

The Conservative Party was rock bottom in the polls after Liz Truss’ disastrous PMship. The party seems to be slowly on the up since then: Labour did not make the massive gains in the local elections as were originally predicted.

Will pass on attending this event. With Rees Mogg and Dorries speaking there will be calls for the return of Johnson. But Johnson can’t be bothered attending, he will be on a video.

The Cons will be out at the next GE, partly because of division within the Party, this is yet another group.

Question is who will replace the Cons, Labour will have the biggest share but may not be enough, a coalition with the Lib Dem’s looks like a possibility but wouldn’t be surprised if it was SNP even though they have ruled it out.

The Conservative Dilemma will forever be:
-Change, OR we'll be out of power for a generation
-Change, AND we'll be out of power for a generation
Perpetually in fear of taking a step too soon or too late, yet never in time - & unsurprisingly, never advancing.
Conservatism, by name & design, defies the natural principle of 'change'. Change is indeed, the Conservative's Achilles.
So I guess we can skip along to the part where the Tories are out of 'power' - for not only being out of touch but also out of ideas,
because they'll never change - unless their own existence depends on it.
At that point they'll adopt anything to stay in power. Therein lies the problem, they'll adopt anything, including these increasingly ridiculous & irresponsible culture wars & self-serving laws. That's how we got this entire Brexit mess.
UKIP seized upon this weakness, which will be again net GE, by the current "fusion" of Nationalist, Conservative & Socially Authoritarian moods vying for prominence on the right.
Characteristically, this ideological mutation has all but abandoned any economic priority (see Brexit), has dropped playing-at-statecraft or nation building; opting instead to prioritise social & cultural "issues" & scapegoating the ensuing fallout on the EU & immigrants.
Call it 'Fusion' or Fascism, it's still the same ingredients in a pot.

The conservatives need to show real ambition and vision otherwise you will never have my vote just like every other political party. You act unworthy and undeserving of my vote which I view as superior to you.
Do the following:
- State a vision of building the British empire 2.0 and own it, no shame or pathetic historic guilt anymore. It's embarrassing when we were capable of ending slavery across the globe and decimated the age of piracy reforming cultures away from disgusting practices like Widow burning. Stop pissing away the memories of our ancestors by turning us into useless fat blobs.
- Cut social welfare by more than a half. Get the beggars off their asses and press them into service if they won't get jobs. No more nanny state nonsense.
- Double the size of the military using money from social welfare. Use the rest on R&D and infrastructure building. Spank the NIMBYs who are just old hasbeens capable of nothing.
- Cut taxes to incentivise growth and get people moving. Corp tax 10%, income tax no higher than 20%, STMP duty abolished, IHT abolished, VAT abolished.
