Brexit Facts4EU.Org questions the democratic legitimacy of the EU Empire
Yesterday the Commission published the latest batch of offences it deems to have been committed by each member country. As usual these offences go deep into the everyday operations and daily lives of EU countries and their citizens.
As of this morning, 1,824 legal cases are actively being pursued by the unelected EU Commission of Ursula von der Leyen, against all 27 member countries. This is the reality of the EU’s ‘Rule of Law’.
The latest offences against the EU State
Every month the EU Commission delivers its verdict on the governments of circa 350 million voters. Not one of these people has had a vote on the laws which are supposed to have been broken. All these laws were created by the unelected EU Commission. The EU Parliament which contains MEPs elected by EU citizens has no power to create any laws at all.
The latest package of infringement decisions once again involves all EU countries. There are 164 infringements in total involving a large number of EU laws, Rules, and Directives. Increasingly there are fewer and fewer aspects of life which are not controlled by the EU Commission.

Here are just five examples of the latest charges against EU countries
- Greece has failed to adopt ‘noise maps’ to the Commission’s satisfaction.
- Bulgaria, Greece, Italy, Cyprus and Romania are in the dock over ‘maritime spatial planning’ directives. These apparently aim to organise human activities in marine areas to meet the EU’s various ecological, economic and social objectives.
- Romania is also charged with failing to correctly transpose EU law on hate speech and hate crimes.
- Croatia is in trouble for restricting its exports of natural gas – apparently the EU wants it.
- Ireland, Bulgaria, Luxembourg and Austria have all failed to conduct enough roadside inspections of “high speed tractors”.
Observations
How this affects the UK
To those Rejoiners who respond to the above by saying “We’re out, what do you care?”, we would make two important points.
Firstly, Northern Ireland – a part of the supposedly sovereign United Kingdom – remains under EU law. This is wholly unacceptable and the DUP and other Unionist parties are right not to participate in the Assembly while this continues.
Secondly, we continue to show the EU empire for what it is because this is the world Rejoiners wish to drag us back into. It was only yesterday that Ryanair boss Michael O’Leary told Bloomberg he’s sure the UK will rejoin the EU within 15 years, as a result of Leave voters dying off.
Overall we still find it extraordinary that some people think it acceptable that we should submit to laws made by unelected bureaucrats in a foreign country. Because of Brexit, it is the UK government that can decide how often "high speed tractors" (whatever they are) should be submitted to roadside inspections. And if we don't like their decision we can complain to our elected representative and vote accordingly at the next general election.
It's called democracy.
