About the Rt Hon David Jones MP

David Jones has been elected five times as MP for the constituency of Clwyd West and has been in Parliament for 17 years.

He held several ministerial positions, most notably Secretary of State for Wales, as well as being Minister of State at the Department for Exiting the EU. He has the distinction of being relieved from his post by the then Prime Minister Theresa May.

He is Deputy Chairman of the European Research Group in the UK Parliament, a member of the European Scrutiny Committee, and a highly respected parliamentarian with good relations across the political divide.

Observations

This is a man who has been at the heart of discussions with the EU and within Government. In his current roles in Parliament he continues to fight for Brexit and for all the benefits this can deliver.

We are most grateful to David Jones for giving up his time for this interview. His comments on the EU and on the current political scene were so comprehensive we didn’t feel able to cut them at all.

Thank you to the Rt Hon David Jones MP for this interview. It's a welcome addition to our common purpose.
I am however stuck with thoughts regarding the Northern Ireland Bill which Liz Truss [now Prime Minister] brought before the House of Commons.
I firmly believe the NI Protocol should be scrapped in its entirety as we cannot allow a foreign entity [the EU commission] to govern part of United Kingdom territory.
Prospective MPs stand before the UK electorate and the victor sent to the House of Commons to be sworn in. They make their Oath to King and country (formerly Queen and country), NOT to the unelected and unaccountable EU commission.
UK MPs are elected to represent all constituents within their constituency once elected, regardless.
When Liz Truss announced her Bill, I recall she stated it would also protect the so-called single market.

TO PRIME MINISTER TRUSS: The United Kingdom is NOT responsible for the EU single market - the SM etc is a matter for the EU only, just as the UK Internal market is a matter for the UK only. I want to see total focus on UK domestic issues.

There should also be no attempt to sign away our country to Macron's European Political Community. Whichever way you look at it, this is double-speak for the EU keeping a back door into the UK.
We well remember how the European Coal and Steel Community (ECSC) morphed into the EEC, the EC, and the EU.
Now Macron wants to morph that into his European Political Community EPC) - in other words, the EU 2.0 - and we all know what that WILL lead to? NO; NO; NO.

The NI Protocol is poison to the integrity of the UK and it needs to go.
Even in her short spell as pm, Liz Truss has been much criticised in the left leaning media over her tax cut policies which means she must be doing something right. However if she visits Prague to join the ‘EU lite’ club, she will be making a huge mistake.
