A summary of just how badly this Government has performed on illegal immigration

We can reveal that on Saturday the number of illegal boat migrants from Macron’s France since 2018 passed the 80,000 mark. In addition, they passed the 40,000 mark for 2022 alone, with almost another 1,000 arriving on Saturday.

As the UK prepares to throw more money at the French, Facts4EU.Org presents the stark realities. There were three totemic issues highlighted in the Leave campaign’s slogans prior to the EU Referendum: To take back control of :-

  1. Our laws
  2. Our borders
  3. Our money

More than six years after the Referendum, the Government has let the country down on all three. Today we present a short summary of one of these: failing to take back control of our borders. In two future reports we will summarise the failures in taking back control of our laws and our money.

1. Since 2018, over 80,000 migrants have left Macron’s France in small boats

2. The truth about the illegal Albanians scandal

We now have the official data on the scandal of the huge number of Albanians now entering the country illegally on small boats from France.

Here is what the Home Office has to say :-

“The make-up of people on small boats has been changing….”

“Since May 2022, there has been a significant increase in the number of Albanians crossing the channel on small boats. From May to September 2022 Albanian nationals alone comprised 42% of small boat crossings, with 11,102 Albanians arriving by small boat in those five months…. In some weeks over the summer, more than half of small boat arrivals claimed to be Albanian.

Brexit Facts4EU.Org Summary

The 16 times jump in the proportion of illegal Albanian migrants this year

  • 2021 : 2.7% of boat migrants were Albanian
  • 2022 : 42% of boat migrants were Albanian

Albania is considered a safe country and it is listed as a designated state under section 94 of the Nationality, Immigration and Asylum Act 2002. This means that “there is, in general in that state or part of it no serious risk of persecution of persons entitled to reside in that state or part of it.

Nevertheless, the Home Office has granted 53% of all Albanian asylum applications. This does not include the small boat migrants this year, which have yet to be processed.

3. The truth about ages and gender

Many figures have been bandied about regarding the age and gender of illegal boat migrants. It is well known that the BBC and Sky News like to show video footage of women and children. Below we present the official Home Office facts for last year (2021).

Brexit Facts4EU.Org Summary

The age and gender profile of illegal boat migrants

  • Male : 90.5%
  • Adult : 87.4% (This does not include all those who are 18+ but who claim to be under 18

The Home Office tells us that they plan to publish a more “comprehensive statistical report” on the number of small boat arrivals on 24th November 2022.

Observations

There is no doubt that people who voted for Brexit have been let down by the Government. This is not the fault of Brexit – it is the fault of a Government which has singularly failed to deliver its benefits.

With almost 1,000 extra illegal boat migrants arriving from Macron's France on Saturday, the number this year has officially passed 40,000. We were a little surprised that no-one seemed to have picked up on the fact that another milestone was breached at the same time: 80,000 since this started in 2018.

In our report we have presented the three major headline items based on official Home Office and Ministry of Defence figures: the total numbers, the proportion of Albanians, and the age and gender make-up of the illegal migrants who are arriving in ever-increasing numbers.

Last week we reported that Italy rejected migrants from an NGO boat, refusing to allow them to disembark. With some 'virtue signalling', Macron's government allowed them ultimately to disembark in the port of Toulon in France, although it should be noted that Germany has agreed to take the majority of them from the French.

If the Italians - EU members - can take a hard line with the French, it should perhaps be asked why the UK Government is not doing the same.
