Did the London Establishment hit ‘peak woke’ yesterday?

Has a much venerated British institution just made itself into a laughing stock?

An opinion piece by our Chairman on wokery and disconnection in the British Establishment

Like many readers, members of the Facts4EU.Org team are members of many organisations and receive a great many regular email newsletters from them.

One such organisation is Chatham House – famous for its internationally-known “Chatham House Rule” which dictates that members may publicly discuss what is said at meetings, but not who said what.

This multi-million pound think tank is based in a splendid building in St James Square in Westminster and has been going for more than 100 years.

Its full title is The Royal Institute of International Affairs.

For a long time they have been becoming more and more ‘woke’. Yesterday it's possible they hit peak wokeness. Below we quote from their latest monthly newsletter.

We start with the title of the lead story.

“Gender sensitivity in the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty”

According to Chatham House, the authors “argue for nuclear policy to meaningful engagement with feminist policy analysis.”

What? Seriously, WHAT?

Facts4EU.Org is concerned about the proliferation of nuclear weapons in many theatres, including rogue states such as Iran and North Korea, as well as several other countries in other parts of the world.

For example we were against the treaty known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) which was signed with Iran by President Obama, the EU, the UK and others.

We published photographs of the then de facto EU Foreign Secretary, Federica Mogherini, posing for ‘selfies’ on a visit to the Iranian parliament with its eager MPs.

President Trump pulled the US out in 2018, only for Joe Biden to reverse this decision.

Only last week, Ms Mogherini’s successor, Josep Borrell, wrote:

“It is now time for swift political decisions to conclude the Vienna negotiations on the basis of my proposed text and to immediately return to a fully implemented JCPOA. The deal serves the cause of non-proliferation in return for sanctions lifting, showing that in turbulent times balanced international agreements are still possible.”

- Josep Borrell, Brussels, 28 July 2022

Sheer madness.

Brexit Facts4EU.Org Summary

Back to ‘Wokery Central’ in the heart of Westminster

Chatham House’s latest monthly newsletter not only contains an article about ‘gender sensitivity’ in the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, it also contains the following:-

Indigenous women's resistance

“Anne Sisson Runyan examines gender and colonialism in uranium mining and nuclear waste dumping on Indigenous land in North America.”

Atomic aesthetics in Egypt

“Contrary to assumptions, this article demonstrates that feminizing nuclear politics will not lead to disarmament, but reinforce a nuclearized world.”

Sweden's nuclear history

“This research proves that to reach a nuclear weapons-free world we must challenge power relations that sustain a gendered and racialized nuclear order.”

Gendering nuclear policy

“Laura Rose Brown and Laura Considine draw on their article to outline three questions on gender that policy-makers must answer at the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty Conference.”

Colonial constructions of the Middle East and South Asia

“Explore the impact of race and colonialism on lives, policies and understandings of countries in these regions.”

Can they be serious?

It seems they are. Chatham House is a multi-million pound organisation. What is even more serious is that the Foreign Office funds this madness to the tune of £1m per year. Chatham House also receives funding from the EU Commission of between £250,000-£499,999, as well as from 'Open Society' (George Soros), 'The European Climate Foundation', Bill and Melinda Gates, and numerous foreign conglomerates, banks, and foreign governments.

Facts4EU.Org would dearly love to have state and other funding like this. Instead we must rely on ordinary members of the public making individual donations, which don’t even cover a minimum wage for team members, let alone fund a prestigious headquarters in Westminster's most desirable square.

Observations

We are of course strong believers in freedom of expression and Chatham House should be free to publish what it likes. That doesn’t stop us from thinking that so much of it is now utter nonsense, totally disconnected from the views and concerns of the vast majority of people.

Chatham House is about International Affairs. So is Facts4EU.Org, although our remit is narrower. Nevertheless there are an enormous number of important international topics on which we would like to research and then publish our findings. We are limited only by funding, not a lack of ideas.

One thing we can guarantee if any readers should wish to make a donation today: it is highly unlikely that any of our reports will feature ‘gender identity’, ‘racialization’, ‘colonialisation’ and the rest of the navel-gazing London Establishment’s preoccupations.

Facts4EU.Org is a woke-free zone.

Facts4EU.Org needs you today

We are a 'not for profit' team (we make a loss) and any donation goes towards the actual work, not plush London offices, lunch or taxi expenses, or other luxuries of some organisations.

We badly need more of our thousands of readers to donate. Could this be you, today? Maybe you've been thinking about it, but just haven't got around to doing it? If so, let us reassure you. It's quick and easy and we use two highly secure payment providers. And we do NOT ask you for further donations if you donate once - we just hope that you keep supporting us. Your donation stays anonymous unless you tell us otherwise.

Please don't assume that other people will keep us going - we don't receive enough to survive and we need your help today. Could you help us?

Most of our readers are well-informed and appreciate our fact-based articles, presented in a way you won't see anywhere else. If you value reports like the one above, please help our work with a donation. We have far more to do in researching, publishing, campaigning and lobbying Parliament than we have in terms of the financial resources to fulfil these tasks. We badly need funding to continue - we rely 100% on public donations from readers like you.

If you believe in a fully-free, independent, and sovereign United Kingdom, please make a donation now. It’s quick, secure, and confidential, and you can use one of the links below or you can use our Donations page here. You will receive a personal, friendly ‘thank you’ from a member of our team within 24 hours. Thank you for reading this.
