Dr Alice Weidel, head of the AfD opposition party in Germany, speaks up for Brexit

Major German politician lambasts Chancellor Merkel

Last week in the Bundestag, (the German Parliament), the leader of the Alternative für Deutschland party made a magnificent speech, lambasting Chancellor Merkel and saying that the UK should be supported.

“Due to your negligence and your failure to help out the UK, our historically good relationship is being threatened.”
“And now we’re counting the cost. €15 billion euros will soon be missing from the EU budget as a result.”
“The UK is the second biggest economy in the EU, as big as 19 other countries combined. From an economic perspective, the EU is shrinking not to 27, but to 9 states.”

Observations

Yes, we know we will be attacked for publishing a speech by the leader of the AfD. We don’t care.

This is a simple and entirely logical speech from the leader of Germany’s growing ‘populist’ party. It was made in the Bundestag. It is not racist or xenophobic. It includes several important points and shows that the EU point of view which is constantly portrayed on the BBC is not the only voice in town.

Where is the fact checking on this? Just because she stood up and said some stuff doesn't make it fact. Where is the analysis? Otherwise, this page isn't living up to its name.

Prince of Whales, you obviously haven't read many articles on this site. And if you're doubting statements like "the UK is the second biggest economy in the EU" then you've got quite a bit of catching up to do.

Why couldn’t our politicians have explained this to the UK population in such clear and concise terms. We can
now understand the disgraceful treatment of Theresa May by M. Barnier and his team during their period of negotiations.
The bureaucracy of the EU in Brussels and the associated “gravy train” for their MEP’s will eventually cause its demise unless it is re-structured.
The people of the UK voted to join the European Economic Community not a Federal State and a proliferation of overpaid “civil servants”
