Readers will often have heard politicians talking about the ‘Lancaster House speech’, given by Theresa May. This gave rise to a collective sigh of relief for many, as the Prime Minister finally set out what Brexit meant.

As we all look forward to the departure next week of the worst Prime Minister in living memory, we thought readers might like to be reminded of what Theresa May actually promised the British people, on 17 January 2017, two-and-a-half years ago.

And what did Mrs May deliver?

Since her Lancaster House speech two-and-a-half years ago, Mrs May rolled back on all of her key promises. Almost the only items left in her speech which she did not abandon were those which primarily benefited the EU, such as agreeing to continue to protect Europe with the UK’s superior defence forces and intelligence services.

Does any of this resemble what May 'delivered'?

Observations

The most extraordinary thing of all is that Theresa May continues to lie to the public to this day, quite blatantly. She continues to pretend that her surrender treaty, more formally known as ‘the Withdrawal Agreement and Political Declaration’, delivers Brexit in any way, shape, or form.

It does not. Not only does it not deliver Brexit, it attempts to replace it with a master-servant treaty in which the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland is reduced to the status of a subservient colony of the EU.

Treason?

We know that many readers now feel that Mrs May’s words and actions over Brexit amount to little less than treason. Others draw back from using such a word.

Our editorial position at Brexit Facts4EU.Org has always been that we did not trust the Prime Minister, and we certainly criticised her incessantly and lost some readers in the process. Happily some of the readers we lost came back, as they started to see the reality unfolding as we had predicted.

Now, as we enter the final days, we must reflect on what has been one of the greatest travesties and deceptions ever perpetrated on the people by a British Prime Minister.

From the word go Enola May was conspiring with the EU, she was Merkles drone and the purpose of their W/A was to nuke our future.
How any of the MP's could defy logic and bring themselves to vote for it, was beyond me. And I am afraid Boris and Mogg have lost a lot trust with brexiteers, for voting for it on the 3rd attempt.

Many people now say, “Thank God we didn’t join the Eurozone”. Even if at the time they thought it was a good idea. I suspect that a similar comment will be made by next year when people say, “Thank God we left the EU.” This particular prime minister has not only destroyed the British people’s belief in democracy but also made us the laughing stock of the world.

So according to that speech Theresa May did have a PLAN which we trustingly believed the Government would carry out.
The Withdrawal Agreement and her Plan are chalk and cheese.

Euro zone. If Gordon Brown did one good thing it was keeping the UK out of the Euro, even if only to upset his nemesis Blair who wanted 'only' to be President of a United Europe. Staying out enables Brexit. We live in hope for your independence and return to bosom of a Commonwealth of friends/nations.

Cards on the table, I considered the Lancaster speech an over-compromise to remain even then. To me, there were too many areas of 'continuance' with EU control & back doors to reel us back in. It was the barest minimum that could be argued was honouring the vote to leave. I was disappointed that it was lauded as 'leaving', putting party before country & democracy, & once they'd got leavers to accept that 'compromise' the scene was set for further 'compromise' & betrayal of the vote which came & came. Our EU Govt, for that's what it is, really thought that leavers would give up & accept a meagre consolation instead of the result that we wanted, whilst weaseling us back in. When that didn't work, they came up with the colony plan.
What really disgusts me is that betrayal after betrayal was allowed to continue with no action & still does to this day. The only 'union' that they're dedicated to is the European Union.
Our EU Govt has been a disgrace from start to finish. Is our next PM a continuation of EU domination? We won't have to wait long to find out, or the pitchforks will be on display.

If this debacle were in a book or tv soap or Hollywood, people would say how unbelievable it is and ignore it all together. Too stupid for words. I am just waiting for “Brexit - the musical.” The main character would be laughed off the stage, as totally gormless. We have had some lying politicians but this must be the worst, after a long string of them. There should be an Oscar type award for a politician who can tell the biggest lie and still have a straight face.

Comment 5 - Michael - I have said many times that the one thing this country can thank the odious Gordon Brown for is keeping us out of the Euro. I was never sure whether sure whether he was intelligent enought to do this for altruistic reasons, or whether to spite Tony Blair whom he hated with a vengeance, being denied, in his delusional sense of entitlement, to the role of Prime Minister - which was continually and tantalisingly dangled in front of him by Blair. I believe it was the latter as he is an arch Europhile. He then went on to become one of the most unpopular Prime Ministers in history and, like May, when the time to bow out came, he desperately tried to cling on to power and also, like May, tried to leave a scorched earth policy.
Why have we been so unfortunate to have had so many unpatriotic, self-serving, self-aggrandising Prime Ministers who in thier egotistical arrogance have put thier own inflated egos above the interests of their own country and its people and caused immeasurablee damage in the process?
