President Juncker of EU Commission
German Chancellor Merkel
JUNCKER LIVES IN BORDERLESS WUNDERLAND
“Borders are the worst invention ever made by politicians”
The EU Commission President shows his grip on reality continues to weaken.
In a speech to the European Forum Alpbach yesterday, President Juncker showed the massive gulf between EU group-think and the common sense of normal people.
  • “Borders are the worst invention ever made by politicians”
  • “We have to fight against nationalism, we have the duty not to follow populists but to block the avenue of populists.” (Yet another extraordinary anti-democracy statement from a top EU politician.)
  • “Brexit was not a pretty moment which the EU must overcome.”
Meanwhile in Italy at a German/Franco/Italian summit, it was the opposite story.
The real Boss of the EU, German Chancellor Merkel, continued backtracking on her disastrous ‘Alles Wilkom’ migrant policy of 2015, saying:
  • “We need to do more for our internal and external security.”
  • She added that EU countries needed to continue to cooperate in their fight against the smuggling of migrants across the Mediterranean and to protect Europe's external borders.
EU Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker has demonstrated once again that he is unfit to lead the EU’s directing body. It can only be a matter of time before he is forced to ‘resign on health grounds’. This would leave the way open for the President of the European Parliament, Herr Schultz, to stand for the Presidency of the EU Commission.

SOME LIGHT CHEER FOR A SUNDAY MORNING
English Bubbly
SUNDAY EDITORIAL - 21 AUGUST 2016
A LITTLE ‘FRENCH LEAVE’ FOR SOME REMAINERS?
Good news stories on the UK’s economy come in every week
Unemployment is down by 8,600 since the Referendum, the number employed is at record levels, retail sales increased 1.4% in July, and GDP growth forecasts remain stubbornly positive. Inward foreign investment continues, with substantial sums being committed to the UK every week by international companies.
What will the BBC do to fill its over-inflated ‘news output' once the Olympic Games are over? Certainly it will struggle to find enough pro-EU and anti-UK stories to fill its schedules.
In fact, there are now so many good news stories each week that we expect the Financial Times will have to dramatically cut its number of pages, with so little bad Brexit news to write about.
Perhaps its Editor, about to receive the equivalent of a knighthood from the French Government, should rename his paper the ‘Les Temps Financiers’ in a gesture of fraternité and mutual misère over the Rosbifs’ décision catastrophique to leave the EU.
If he and the entire Editorial staff of BBC News were then to take some French Leave, it’s possible that many people in the country would cheer them on their way with some fine English sparkling wine.
On this August Sunday morning, we'll raise an optimistic toast to that.

ORIGINAL ANALYSIS OF REPORTS & DATA
President Juncker has a lot to deal with on his return from holiday
EUROZONE ECONOMIC WOES
INSEE (the French version of the Office of National Statistics) released its latest employment data late last week
  • Unemployment at 9.7% (UK : 4.9%)
  • Youth unemployment at 23.7% (UK : 13.7%)
  • Long-term unemployment at 4.3% (UK : 1.4%)
  • French Q2 GDP was stagnant at 0% growth (UK : 0.6%)
Eurozone countries continue to suffer serious economic woes and France is not alone. Italy's banks have bad debts running at a disastrous and unsustainable 18%. Germany's Deutsche Bank has lost over half (55%) of its value in the last 12 months.

The UK has many challenges ahead of it and not all in the garden is rosy, but compared to the misery predicted by Remain immediately post-Brexit, and compared to the problems of the Eurozone, there are reasons to be cheerful.

EU MIGRANT WORKERS: UP 12% IN LAST YEAR
IMPACT OF UK STAYING IN THE SINGLE MARKET CONTINUES
Office of National Statistics releases latest figures for EU migrant workers
  • Number of EU workers has increased by almost 12% in THE LAST YEAR
  • In just 6 years since 2010, EU worker numbers have risen by 87%
  • In the same period, non-EU worker numbers have fallen by -2.5%
  • Total EU migrant workers in UK: 2¼ million, as at 30 June this year
  • Over 1 million East Europeans now working in UK
  • Over ¼ million Bulgarians and Romanians now officially employed in UK
Meanwhile, the pro-EU BBC UK headline news this morning is
'Racial Inequality Entrenched in Britain'......
The EU's ‘Single Market’ demands free movement of people.
The City and Establishment want this to continue - the Leave majority do not.
Latest government figures show EU immigration still rising fast.
There can be no compromise on free movement if Mrs May is serious that ‘Brexit means Brexit’ and if she cares about social cohesion across the country.
(Yet another original piece from the team at Facts4EU.org - no mainstream media outlet has recognised or reported on the 12% annual increase in EU workers.)

ORIGINAL ANALYSIS OF REPORTS & DATA
New Chancellor
Philip Hammond, pro-EU prominent Remain campaigner
REMAINER CHANCELLOR GIVES “EU FUNDING” GUARANTEE - DRAMATIC REVERSAL OF REMAIN CAMPAIGN LIES
However, Pro-EU Chancellor continues myth that UK Agriculture, Science, Regional Development, etc, are funded by the EU
CRUCIALLY, THIS DOES NOT AFFECT OUT NET SAVING OF £10+ BILLION PER YEAR WHEN WE LEAVE THE EU
The Treasury finally issued a “business as usual” announcement yesterday. The statement refers to EU funding over 25 times, but there’s no recognition that this is the UK’s money sent to the EU and then channeled back to the UK.
  • “News story: Chancellor Philip Hammond guarantees EU funding beyond date UK leaves the EU”
  • This includes: The European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development – CAP Pillar 2, The European Social Fund, The European Maritime and Fisheries Fund, The European Regional Development Fund including European Territorial Cooperation
  • In addition, Common Agricultural Policy Pillar 1 funding will continue
  • As will Horizon 2020 university/science funding
1. ALL OF THIS WAS LIED ABOUT, BY REMAIN CAMPAIGN
With so much funding under apparent threat, many people voted Remain in fear. Throughout the campaign, the Leave campaign said this funding would continue. Finally the Chancellor has confirmed that the Leave campaign was right. Imagine how much bigger the Leave victory could have been.

2. PRO-EU CHANCELLOR CONTINUES TO PERPETUATE THE MYTH THAT THIS IS EU MONEY
As a big net contributor to the EU, UK sends this money to the EU who channel it back as ‘EU funding’. It was and is UK money. Pro-EU Hammond's guarantee to continue the funding involves no net cost to the UK taxpayer.

3. THIS IS PART OF OUR GROSS CONTRIBUTION TO THE EU
- NO REDUCTION IN NET SAVINGS WHEN WE LEAVE
This does not affect the net contribution of £11 billion which we'll make to the EU this year, and which could be saved if we were no longer a member.

ONE MONTH SINCE FORMATION, NEW BREXIT DEPT REMAINS EERILY SILENT
No.10 responds to our article by posting announcements about PM's travels
  • New "Dept for Exiting the EU" was announced one month ago today
  • On Sunday 7th Aug we showed zero announcements since David Davis appointed as Secretary of State of new Brexit Dept
  • Yesterday No.10 responded by duplicating 7 old pieces from July about PM’s travels and putting these as ‘announcements’ of the Brexit Dept
  • Still nothing from the new Brexit Dept itself, 1 month since it was formed
  • Total for all other Depts since then: 670 announcements
Yes, the Brexit Dept is probably busy organising itself.
No, we’re not expecting the announcement of a Brexit plan in all its details.
However communication is an essential part of government.

Whilst it's good to know No.10 reads our site, posting old news is a poor response.
Have Davis and his 3 Ministers been gagged? What on earth is going on over there?

FACTS4EU.ORG ANALYSIS
Or "Why some Brexiteers should stop obsessing about EU laws and treaties and recognise the political realities for Brexit"
THE PROCESS OF LEAVING THE EU ISN’T ABOUT LAWS & TREATIES,
IT’S ABOUT POLITICS AND MONEY
Much has been written about the various EU treaties, and the tens of thousands of laws, regulations and directives which have been imposed on EU Member countries as a result of these.
There appears to be a tendency in the UK Government and the Civil Service – and most certainly a strong opinion amongst a vocal (albeit small) section of Leave commentators - that EU Treaties and laws are what will decide our Brexit arrangements.
They won’t.
Currently, the Government is failing in any meaningful way to enact Brexit. The will of the people is effectively ‘on hold’ while ministers and the Civil Service ostensibly work out the details of how the UK will leave the EU. Even the issuing of an Article 50 notice has been kicked into the muddy winter grass of ‘early 2017’ by the new Prime Minister herself.
It hasn’t helped that the Government and Civil Service failed completely to honour their obligations to prepare for a Brexit result in the Referendum. Facts4EU.org called for senior Civil Service heads to roll for this serious abdication of its duties and responsibilities. Regrettably the mainstream media has almost ignored this issue, with one or two admirable exceptions.
Putting this to one side, however, let’s just look at how the EU does business. From the get-go, the EU was a political ‘project’. From its earliest incarnations as the European Coal and Steel Community in 1951, the intention of its founding fathers (yes, they were all men as the vast majority still are) was to set off on the road to a United States of Europe, masked behind a series of supposedly economic and trading initiatives.
Along the way, Treaties have been negotiated and signed and countless thousand EU-imposed laws have been enacted. The erosion of national will, powers, and sovereignty has been a depressing sight over many decades. But when push comes to shove, how well-observed have been all these constraints on how countries are supposed to behave?
The answer is that EU laws and treaties are often compromised when national factors are involved and the EU is forced to apply common sense and reach a political solution.
Examples of EU compromise in the last few years abound. The Eurozone crisis since 2008 meant that fiscal rules were openly flouted and vast EU sums were used to prevent collapse of the EU’s single currency the Euro, most notably applied in Greece but also in several other countries.
Were Treaty provisions and laws obeyed? No.
You only have to look at our story below, from yesterday. This shows how Spain and Portugal have flagrantly breached the EU’s fiscal rules embodied in the Treaty for the Functioning of the EU (the ‘Lisbon’ Treaty’). They’ve done this repeatedly over many years, and yet are once again being let off massive fines for so doing.
Why did both the EU Commission and EU Council agree to this fudge again? At heart, the answer is politics, and to a lesser extent money.
Youth unemployment in these two countries continues to run at breathtaking levels, political considerations of all kinds are threatening the new governments there, and the EU doesn’t want any more trouble. So it has kissed goodbye to over €2 billion of fines it could have imposed.
This political factor is never more true than at present, as the EU reels from the shock of imminently losing its second-biggest donor and its biggest military and cultural power: the UK.
How will the UK leave the EU?
So this brings us back to home turf. Civil Servants, Ministers, and that part of the Leave commentariat which pays too much attention to the nitty-gritty of Treaty obligations and laws are barking up the wrong tree. The solution to Brexit will be a simple ground war fought on political and monetary issues.
The EU has been a political project since inception, peopled by self-aggrandizing ‘dirigiste’ bureaucrats who knew that they knew better than the peoples of Europe. They quietly embarked on a direction not wanted by the vast majority of Europeans. For decades they manipulated their way to ever-increasing power and influence and now dominate the elites of the media, education, science, and other professions, in addition to their obvious political power.
When all is said and done, however, Brexit will be a political compromise encompassing a financial sweetener. The elites in Brussels are happy to see us go as it better enables them to complete their cloaked project. And if we 'bung them a few quid', you can forget all talk about the minutiae of EU Treaties, EEA, EFTA, and a myriad of laws and international protocols.
In other words, ‘It’s about the politics, stupid’. Plus some dosh, of course.

EU CANCELS BILLIONS OF POUNDS OF FINES
AGAINST SPAIN AND PORTUGAL
EU runs scared of anti-EU feeling across continent
  • Spain and Portugal have repeatedly broken EU fiscal rules for over 5 years
  • Despite many annual extensions to deadlines, they’ve again failed to hit targets
  • Under Lisbon Treaty, Spain and Portugal should pay fines up to 0.2% GDP – worth billions of Pounds
  • We reported EU Commission’s 12 July recommendation to drop these massive fines on both countries
  • Yesterday the EU Council agreed, and no fines will be imposed

CONSUMER SPENDING RISES, DEFYING REMAINER PESSIMISTS
VISA’s July Consumer Spending Index produced by Markit shows spending buoyant
  • Consumer spending shows healthy year-on-year rise in July – after the Referendum
  • Unlike Remainers’ doom and gloom 'opinion' surveys, this report shows the reality
  • These are not ‘opinions’, they are figures for what we actually spent
“Looking at the sectors, the longer term trend we’ve seen for increased spending on leisure and recreation is enduring. And the high street saw its strongest annual growth rate in five months with clothing retailers in particular bouncing back after a fall in June.”

THE STATE OF THE UNION
Some short lowlights of the current state of play in the EU.
  • 65% of Germans are now against Ms Merkel’s immigration policy - finally
  • Turkey threatens to open borders to EU again if no visa-free travel for Turks by October
  • Germany had 2.1 million immigrants in 2015, not the 1 million which BBC still reports
  • France extends state of emergency, EU ‘borderless travel’ is now a myth as controls tighten
  • France ignores EU rules on monetary policy as usual, economy stagnates at 0% growth
  • Italy’s banking system is approaching chaos, bank shares plunging, debt at record levels
  • Italian PM threatening illegal bank bailouts, facing referendum this autumn
  • Anti-Euro 5-Star party now leads Italian opinion polls
  • EU Commission breaks own rules and cancels fines for Portugal & Spain for non-austerity
  • Dutch anti-EU PVV, led by Geert Wilders, is now most popular party in Holland
  • EU’s Director-General for Trade says EU trade policy ‘close to death’, as Canada deal looks less likely and USA deal is totally stalled
  • EU governments and EU press delight in pessimism from BoE Governor Carney, with headlines like ‘Down, down, down’ and ‘The recession that Brexit built’

ORIGINAL ANALYSIS OF REPORTS & DATA
BBC's 'Reality Check' is ridiculed by publication of official figures showing cost of EU to the UK.

We did try to tell them...
BBC ‘REALITY CHECK’ WERE WRONG ON EU COSTS
Latest Treasury ‘Pink Book’ is published by ONS
  • Office for National Statistics (ONS) has released its update for 2015
  • It shows UK’s net contributions to EU at £11 billion per year
  • BBC Reality Check claimed only £8.4 billion p.a. – and still uses this figure
  • BBC were deliberately using old data from 2014
  • We showed latest 2016 data from Office for Budget Responsibility (OBR)
  • OBR estimated almost £400 million per week gross to EU
  • We said: “a figure of £10 billion per year is therefore a very reasonable and uncontestable figure to use, for what the EU costs us”
  • We also said: “Frankly it’s a massive understatement of the total cost of the EU to the UK”
Yesterday CfB co-chairman Steve Baker MP said: "Shockingly we were billed even more than Vote Leave thought.”

What a shame Vote Leave's Management didn’t use our data – then they wouldn’t be shocked now.

Fortunately many local campaign groups did use our data and charts and produced their own leaflets.

The new
'Secretary for Exiting the European Union'

David Davis walking up Downing St
on 13 July
SUNDAY EDITORIAL - 31 JULY 2016
OVER TWO WEEKS AGO WE ASKED :
'SO, WHO WILL MAKE THE BREXIT DECISIONS?'
  • David Davis was appointed 'Secretary for Exiting the European Union' on 13 July
  • We proposed that "It must be clear to EU leaders that David Davis’ role is pre-eminent and that he will be the driving force, with her full backing"
  • A week later we pointed out that Mr Davis is ranked only No.8 in Cabinet
  • Even Liz Truss and Justine Greening rank above him
In the last two weeks we can't recall seeing or hearing from Mr Davis.

We very much hope that this will change very quickly,
if the minority Leave voice in the Cabinet isn't to be marginalised
as we predicted.

SATURDAY EDITORIAL 30th JULY 2016
WHAT COULD HOLD US BACK NOW?
Deliberate, sustained, and self-serving pessimism from Remainers, perhaps?
On a daily basis we can find good news – if we search for it amongst the gloom in the output from the Remain media and consultancy elites.
For example, here’s a headline from us, which you won’t have seen on the BBC or Sky:-
“WE HAVE COMPLETED NEARLY £2 BILLION OF RESIDENTIAL MORTGAGE
SINCE THE BREXIT VOTE,
8% UP ON THE SAME PERIOD LAST YEAR

- Barclays plc 2016 Results Announcement, 29 July 2016
Since June 23rd, overseas companies have been making major investments in the UK. Last week two international companies announced over £½ billion of investment in the UK over two days – and they are only two of many each week who’ve made such announcements.
All the early Project Fear predictions have failed to materialise, except for the expected fall in the Pound. Osborne’s ‘Emergency Punishment Budget’ has disappeared, as have apocalyptic forecasts from Mark Carney at the Bank of England, Christine Lagarde at the IMF, etc.
At the first sign of a piece of potentially negative Brexit news, the Remain-dominated TV pundits have pounced on it in joy. The fact that these news items often turn out to be innaccurate hasn’t deterred these Remainers, and of course the Public hear the initial headlines, not the corrections afterwards – if they’re even offered.
There is a much more fundamental point, however. And it will counteract the great potential of the UK’s new, globally-facing future, if we continue to let it happen.
For months the Public heard 95% of ‘experts’ predicting catastrophe if they voted Leave. These ‘experts’ can’t now say they were wrong or that they exaggerated,
or they would look foolish.
The result has been a continual ‘talking the country down’ since the Referendum, by everyone from Mark Carney and the Chancellor, to Big Businesses using Brexit as an excuse for poor results, to the desperately pro-EU BBC and Sky editors and correspondents.
If you tell people that ‘There will be big trouble ahead’ and you do this on a daily basis, some people will start to believe it. If people are told they should be pessimistic about their economic future, they’ll behave accordingly. Company purchasing managers will hold off on big orders, and members of the Public will put off large personal purchases or major life decisions like moving house.
There’s nothing new in this – it’s called ‘the self-fulfilling prophecy’. It’s up to all of us – but particularly the Government – to hit this on the head.
The UK has a very bright future ahead of us if we are positive and optimistic.

The Government, especially the new Brexit Secretary, need to act now, to set the tone of a great future ahead. The current failure to do so is already costing us billions.

We can do so much better than this.

Yet another Remainer tries to blame Brexit, but is caught out
Lloyds Bank CEO, António Horta Osório
'BREXIT ISN’T TO BLAME FOR LLOYDS' PROBLEMS'
Admits pro-EU CEO of Lloyds Bank
  • Yesterday Lloyds Bank published half-year figures: profit doubled to £2.45 billion
  • They blamed 3000 job losses and more branch closures on Brexit
  • However the latest job losses started in 2008 with 54000 jobs lost since then
  • 3000 extra job losses are part of Bank response to rise in online banking
  • Late yesterday, Lloyds’ pro-EU Portuguese CEO admitted: “This has nothing to do with the vote. We’re not doing anything because of the vote.”
Who is António Horta Osório, the CEO of Lloyds?
  • Graduate of INSEAD Paris – top university for producing EU bureaucrats
  • Ex-Goldman Sachs – bank which makes millions from EU
  • Became CEO of Lloyds Banking Group in Mar 2011
  • After 9 months in the job he took 2 months off, including a stint at the Priory
  • He is openly pro-EU and was for Remain in the Referendum campaign
The BBC, Sky and ITV pounced on Lloyds' report blaming Brexit. Later, the CEO Snr Osorio and the Bank was forced to admit it was nothing to do with Brexit.

By then, the Public had absorbed the ‘bad Brexit news’.

Will BBC, Sky and ITV give equal prominence today to the Bank’s retraction?

EU (and therefore UK) accelerates payments to Turkey, despite its descent into an islamic state with no respect for free speech or basic human rights
Turkey accepted back 20 Syrians from the EU in the first month of its €6 billion 'cash to stop refugees' deal with Angela Merkel and declared itself ready for visa-free access to EU for its 78m citizens
UK CONTINUES TO PAY FOR MERKEL’S CATASTROPHIC MIGRANT POLICY
EU ACCELERATES FUNDING FOR TURKISH DEAL
Yesterday, EU Commission adopted Special Measure of extra €1.4 billion for EU-Turkey deal
Despite Turkey rapidly becoming a dictatorial Islamic state, EU accelerated funding for €6 billion Merkel-Erdogan deal to reduce migrants into Germany.
  • UK will pay approx 12%, on top of existing EU budget contributions
  • Merkel’s initial deal was €3 billion, then raised to €6 billion after Erdogan insisted
  • From first €3 billion, EU has now committed €2.15 billion
  • First payments direct to Turkish Government : “The first strand provides for direct grants with the Turkish ministries”
  • From first €3 billion, €1 billion is from 'EU budget' (approx 12% UK)
  • €2 billion from EU Member States – on top of existing EU contributions
The EU says the UK has sent in its first contribution – towards the first €3 billion. It's not yet clear when the second payment will be due.

The UK will continue to be liable for extra EU expenditure like this until the end of the Article 50 2-year notice period is up. Mrs May has said the UK won't give notice until next year.

The sooner formal notice is given, the sooner the UK won't have to keep paying for Mrs Merkel's mistakes.

ORIGINAL ANALYSIS OF REPORTS & DATA
Tory MP's were much closer on Remain versus Leave than the media made us think
Rt Hon Dr John Redwood MP, a key member of the core group of Tory Leave MPs determined to see the Referendum result implemented
TORY MPs VOTED BY ONLY 56% FOR REMAIN
PM faces strong party opposition if she waters down Brexit
Only 56% of Tory MPs (including Ministers, PPS's, Whips, etc) declared for Remain. And many of these were Leavers by inclination.
Reuters interviewed former Minister John Redwood MP - 'an intellectual leader of the Brexiteers in Prime Minister Theresa May's ruling Conservative party'.
  • "I want the full Brexit and I would get straight on with it," said Redwood
  • "We voted to take back control. That means control of our laws, control of our borders, control of our money. And those things are not going to be negotiated - they cannot be. It said on the ballot paper 'Leave' and that is what people voted to do."
  • Yesterday in Rome the PM said "We had a very clear message from the British people in the Brexit vote. They want us to bring in some control on free movement."
  • Redwood said talk of a potential emergency brake that would allow Britain to limit immigration for seven years and keep access to the single market was ridiculous. "Taking back control over the borders is not negotiable," he said. "That isn't leaving."
John Redwood MP supports the PM but is part of a core group of some 25 Tory backbench MPs who are determined to ensure that the Referendum vote is delivered as intended.

Mrs May's majority in Parliament is just 15.

Added to that, the PM knows that only 56% of her Parliamentary party voted to Remain - many of whom had jobs in Government and came out for Remain despite having previously-stated Eurosceptic views. The true extent of the Remain contingent is probably in the minority in the Parliamentary Conservative party - as it is in the party's membership nationally.

Exactly one month ago this morning, the UK awoke to a Brexit victory.
THE EARLY DAYS
  • UK and EU Establishments in shock, Brexiteers joyful
  • Cameron resigned, Osborne hid from view, no government statement for 3 days
  • Pound fell, as did stock markets across Europe
  • 2 doom-laden statements about UK prospects from Bank of England Governor Carney
  • EU President Juncker said ‘This will not be an amicable divorce’
  • Osborne finally appeared, and his doom and gloom depressed markets
  • Metropolitan Remain voters cried foul, in hypocritical ‘lie’ claims against Leave side
  • Petition launched to overturn democratic result
  • Many senior politicians refused to accept Brexit
WEEKS 2-3
  • Markets started shrugging off doom and gloom
  • Foreign investors and companies started confirming billions of UK investment
  • Nigel Farage resigned as leader of UKIP
  • Tory leadership contest gathered pace
  • Establishment turned on Andrea Leadsom, May was crowned PM
  • Legal challenges to Brexit started at High Court
  • Remain lies started unravelling – no emergency budget, markets rising
  • May refused to reassure existing EU immigrants that they’re safe
  • May appointed 74% pro-Remain Cabinet and 86% pro-Remain junior ministers
  • Civil Service and new Chancellor Hammond admitted no plans were made for Brexit
  • May started talking of ‘more’ control over borders, not total control
  • New Chancellor Hammond said Brexit will take longer than WWII
  • Sturgeon became even more insufferable to all but Scottish SNP supporters
WEEK 4
  • FTSE 100 and FTSE 250 rose higher than pre-Referendum, most other financial news good
  • Countries around the World started queueing up to do trade deals with the UK
  • Government stated Brexit wouldn’t start before 2017
  • BBC, ITV and Sky’s anti-Brexit bias reached new extremes
  • Even pro-Brexit papers now back Establishment pessimism again
  • No experts apologised, but IMF’s, Treasury’s, and Bank of England’s Armageddon prophecies were replaced by opposite assessments
  • May continued to insist ‘Brexit means Brexit’ but now says "Well, the message that the British people gave also had a very clear message that we should introduce some controls to the movement of individuals from the countries in the European Union into the UK."
  • More equivocal and worrying statements on issues like the Single Market have been issued by Government Ministers.
Facts4eu.org continues to have complete faith in the great future ahead for a truly independent United Kingdom, freed from the shackles of the failing EU project.

However Facts4EU.org continues to have no confidence that true Brexit
will in fact be delivered for the British people by the Government.

Regrettably we can’t find any major organisation which recognises this risk as strongly as we do and we’ve been unable to find any serious funding for continuing our work.

‘AT HEART I’M A POLICY WONK’ – SAYS VOTE LEAVE CEO
Many Leave campaigners would say this was so nearly an accurate description
The Chief Exec of Vote Leave took the personal glory in a BBC-funded self-promo film yesterday.
Credit: BBC's 'Daily Politics' show, 21/07/2016, reposted by Current Top NeWs on Youtube
During the campaign we resisted criticising Vote Leave’s management, focusing instead on providing useful information for campaigners, but we simply can’t stand by and watch VL’s Chief Exec crow now.
In the last 6 months we didn’t receive one email praising VL’s management – quite the reverse.
Local campaigners and Eurosceptics criticised VL’s management across the board :–
  • Their leaflets and posters, their organisational abilities, their arrogance, their infighting with Leave.EU, their policies and messages, their poor rebuttals of Remain claims, their lack of use of many effective MP’s as spokespersons, their Westminster Village and London focus, their website, their TV campaign, and much more.
  • The feeling seems to be ‘We won in spite of Vote Leave management, not because of them’.
  • And when the Referendum was won, what was there from Vote Leave? Absolutely nothing. Not even a thank you to their own campaigners.
OUR OPINION
The real heros were the thousands of unpaid men and women who went out many times each week, knocking on doors, manning stalls, speaking at small local gatherings and debates, producing their own leaflets and websites, persuading friends and family, putting up with daily bias from the BBC, ITV and Sky, and believing passionately in the cause.

We also salute the MP’s and influential names who worked tirelessly and who were highly effective when they got themselves on TV and in the press, without Vote Leave's help.

And finally we salute those entrepreneurs who put their hands in their pockets to fund so many efforts in the overall Leave campaign to the tune of millions of pounds. And we can never forget all the people who made individual donations to enable the Leave campaign to function. They gained nothing from this but did it for their country.

We suggest Vote Leave’s Chief Exec and Campaign Director leave their London offices and go out to talk to real campaigners across the country – those who actually won the Referendum.

MAY VOLUNTARILY GIVES UP EU BARGAINING CHIP
PM gives up UK’s right to 6-month EU presidency starting July next year
  • Nothing asked in return, during May’s call with President Tusk on Tuesday
  • “the Prime Minister suggested that the UK should relinquish the rotating Presidency of the Council, scheduled for the second half of 2017” (No.10 press release yesterday)
  • PM happy to use existing legal EU immigrants as ‘part of EU negotiation’
  • However she’s given up UK’s rotating 6-month presidency of EU Council
Why did Mrs May do this without demanding something in return?
Why are 3 million EU immigrants used as bargaining chips,
but the UK's right to the EU Presidency isn’t?
Did the Cabinet approve this decision on Tuesday?

BREXIT WON’T EVEN START BEFORE 2017
Government lawyer confirms EU will not be given notice of exit by UK before next year
  • Yesterday saw start of first of 7 actions by Remainers trying to block Brexit
  • At High Court, Government QC was acting for David Davis, Minister for Exit
  • “Notification [under] article 50 will not occur before the end of 2016,” he said
The above will be deeply worrying for the majority of the electorate who voted to leave the EU. Below we give our continuing opinion on this.

WEDNESDAY EDITORIAL
20th July 2016
UK won't even START leaving EU until 2017
David Davis, Sec of State for Exiting the EU, arriving at No.10
OUR WILL MUST BE DONE
Giving notice now to the EU isn’t ideal, but it's essential
Astonishingly, the Government and the Civil Service made no contingency plans for Brexit.
However there are two key reasons why UK should start leaving now:
1. To put an end to the daily undemocratic nonsense, so that Brexit is accepted by all and we unite to move forward positively as a country.
2. The sooner UK gives notice, the sooner UK can stop free movement, have its own laws, do international trade deals and grow faster.
Delaying the UK’s exit notification to the EU is dangerous.
It may not be ideal to trigger it now,
but the advantages now outweigh the disadvantages.

Davis, Fox, and Johnson need to man up and tell it like it is.

ORIGINAL ANALYSIS OF REPORTS & DATA
Scotland's Leave and Remain votes, in context of votes from rest of UK
Scotland's "Remainers" in context of overall UK vote
STURGEON, THE SNP, THE EU REFERENDUM
The facts about the Scottish Remain vote, and who Nicola Sturgeon speaks for
Let’s put the SNP into context for our EU readers, despite what they think as result of massive Sturgeon and SNP coverage by BBC, Sky, ITV, etc.
  • Sturgeon speaks for only 1.6m Scottish voters regarding the EU debate
  • Scottish Remain votes: 1,661,191 - Scottish Leave votes: 1,018,322
  • EU thinks Scotland is big part of UK, with so much media coverage of the SNP and Nicola Sturgeon
  • In fact Scottish Remain voters were only 4.95% of total votes cast in UK
Democracy means the majority wins.
Stable and decent democracy means taking account of minority views. It doesn’t mean giving a wildly disproportionate voice to a small minority.

The UK voted to leave, including 1 million Scots,
and Scotland is part of the UK.

LEAVE.EU BACKS WOOLFE FOR UKIP LEADER
Arron Banks throws Leave.EU weight behind Steven Woolfe's leadership bid to replace Nigel Farage
The powerful Leave.EU organisation is backing Steven Woolfe to become the new leader of the UK Independence Party
  • Steven Woolfe is MEP for North-West England
  • Born Manchester, aged 48, barrister from working class background
  • Grandparents are described as English, Irish, British Jewish, and Black American
  • That should give those who class all UKIP members as racist and xenophobic bigots a bit of a problem...
  • Woolfe is currently UKIP's migration spokesman
  • He serves on the EU's Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs

MAY BUILDS MASSIVELY PRO-REMAIN GOVERNMENT
Another EXCLUSIVE from Facts4EU.org
Please support our 'Leave Means Leave' Campaign
Further 37 MP's appointed as Junior Ministers yesterday - only 4 are Leavers
Prime Minister May now has a massively Pro-Remain Cabinet, and the overwhelming majority of new Junior Minister appointments in her Government are also Remayners.
MAY'S CABINET NOW

JUNIOR MINISTER APPOINTMENTS
May's Junior Minister appointments
  • The single most defining act for the new Government is to exit the EU
  • 52% voted Leave, yet only 26% of new Cabinet are Leavers
  • Only 14% of MP's appointed as new Junior Ministers are Leavers
Forget the few big personalities like Davis, Fox and Johnson.
The numbers show Leave has been marginalised by Mrs May.
The Leave campaign isn’t over.
Please forward this to individuals or organisations who might fund our work.

SUNDAY EDITORIAL
17th July 2016
Facts4EU.org makes yet another appeal to Mrs May
Theresa May
Facts4EU.org is party-neutral. We comment only on matters relating to the UK's position on the EU, on broad principles of democracy and governance, and on the UK's relationship with the rest of the World.
KEEP IT SIMPLE, MRS MAY, AND LET’S CRACK ON
Giving the SNP false hope and talking about delaying exit is bad for democracy.
May has implied Scotland can influence the EU exit deal : “I've been very clear with the First Minister [Sturgeon] today that I want the Scottish government to be fully engaged in our discussions and our considerations, and I will listen to any options that they bring forward.” (BBC interview, 15 July)
Last time we looked, EU membership and exit was not a devolved matter. EU exit is a matter for the United Kingdom Government, under Royal Prerogative.
Scotland will not vote to leave the UK, even if a further Scottish referendum were offered by Mrs May, which she has indicated will not happen.
The Scottish people aren’t stupid and, despite the noise generated by the SNP, the SNP speaks for under half of the proud Scottish nation. There’s no chance the EU will allow Scotland to negotiate separate membership and the canny Scots will not vote for economic collapse outside the United Kingdom.
The UK as a whole voted to exit the EU, not the UK’s component parts. The SNP - and major elements of the Labour Parliamentary Party, as well as the Lib Dems and Greens – simply have to accept the result and live with it. You win some, you lose some. It’s called democracy.
Despite massive Government propaganda funded by the UK taxpayer, Remainers lost the Referendum. Get over it and let’s move on.
Mrs May now needs to embrace the democratic will of the whole country. Delaying the notice to leave the EU will further damage people’s understanding of democracy and what the Leave result meant.
Invoking Article 50 - notice to leave the EU - right now isn’t ideal because the Cameron Government and the entire Civil Service unbelievably didn’t prepare anything for a Leave result. We’re still waiting for senior Civil Service Heads to roll over this gross negligence and incompetence.
Thanks to Mr Cameron and the Civil Service Heads, we are where we are. It’s essential that stability is restored to our democracy. We believe Article 50 should now be invoked within a few weeks, to put to bed some of the nonsense being spouted about 2nd referendums, general elections, Royal Commissions, etc.
Yes, this will take some very hard work in a shorter period than is ideal.

But let’s get on with it, employ a great team (more about this in a future piece), and start getting out.

Then Mrs May can start truly uniting the country again.

MARCH OF THE REMAYNERS (CONTINUED)
More Junior Ministers appointed Saturday by Mrs May - all supported Remain
All 4 of the new Junior Ministerial appointments yesterday are Remainers.
So far that means only 3 out of 14 are Leavers - 21% compared to 52% of the country.

Dominic Raab, prominent Leaver and Minister at Justice Ministry, left the Government.
