 IT’S LIFE IMPRISONMENT
PM CONFIRMS UK CAN’T SET ITSELF FREE
UNDER HER ‘DEAL’
Yesterday provided two moments of clarity that the government’s non-Brexit Brexit is just that.
BREXIT FACTS4EU.ORG SUMMARY
'NO ESCAPE' ADMISSIONS BY PM AND DEPUTY
  • UK can't free itself from Theresa's 'deal'
  • The whole of the UK would stay in the Single Market
The government's two most senior ministers – the Prime Minister and her de facto deputy, David Lidington - separately gave answers to two key questions.
1. THE PRIME MINISTER
Yesterday in formal testimony given to the Liaison Committee of the House of Commons, the Prime Minister was finally forced to admit that :
“There is not a unilateral withdrawal clause”
- Theresa May, official testimony to Liaison Committee, 29 Nov 2018
In other words if the government signs this Treaty, and if the EU fails to agree a trade and future relations deal with the UK in the next two years (highly likely, based on the EU’s track record), then the UK cannot leave of its own volition.
2. THE DE FACTO DEPUTY PRIME MINISTER
Yesterday at the Scottish Parliament’s Europe And External Affairs Committee, the Rt Hon David Lidington MP gave formal evidence regarding the UK’s continued membership of the Single Market under the Backstop.
"If it were ever used .... 'okay, while that's in, GB will not diverge from the regime in Northern Ireland.'”
- David Lidington, formal testimony to Scottish Europe Committee, 29 Nov 2018
In other words, not only would Northern Ireland follow the rules of the Single Market, but so would England, Scotland and Wales.
OBSERVATIONS
To contemplate signing an international treaty where the UK is not in charge of its destiny is completely unprecedented. No sane government would sign an agreement without a notice clause.
‘FUNNY CIGARETTES’
Were the situation not so serious, we would suggest that the Government’s ministers had all been smoking ‘funny cigarettes’.
It’s hard to believe that the Government is seriously proposing to sign its Withdrawal Treaty with the European Union.
In effect, based on decades of the EU’s track record on taking forever to agree trade deals, the Backstop would automatically kick in at the end of 2020, and the UK would have been served a life sentence.
Not only that, but this prisoner would already have been paying its jailer many billions of pounds per year to be in prison, and would have been prevented from earning a living in a competitive fashion.
What conceivable incentive would the EU have to release the UK on parole, or to commute the sentence?
This is pure insanity and May must go now. We would not even put her in charge of the tombola stall at her local village fete.

Message: I like to hear ministers referring to the DWA as "The Prime Minister's Deal". They don't say the Government's policy or DEXEU's or the Cabinet's. They are going to sack her when the DWA is rejected.
We must just make sure we don't get David Lidington in her place (the default position).

Message: Urgent! - May must publish legal advice on her Deal. A vote in the House of Commons cannot take place without the legal advice being made available.
May must publish the legal advice on her Deal, now, for MPs to consider and to allow a sensible debate to take place. A few days before the vote will be ideal... leaked or official... just get it out there.
The legal opinion of Martin Howe QC, on the Deal, confirms exactly why May is so afraid to publish the official legal advice. Another slimy PM once tried to hide legal information about a War. We must put pressure on May now... to publish the legal advice on the Deal... and to stop her deliberately cowering and concealing information that is vital to the HofC vote!

Message: Great but terrifying headline. Liz Truss said much the same, in a funny speech at the Spectator Awards on Wednesday: "Ruth Davidson ...has got a lovely new baby son and I do hope that he will grow up to see the day when we’re out of the backstop". What the backstop entails is humiliation for our country and economic disaster. The withdrawal agreement provides for the decimation of our fishing industry. I wonder, do Mrs May and Mr Robbins have any idea of the fury and scorn against them in the UK?

Message: Where are the young people and their well-wishers right now? If ever, this is the time they should be up-in-arms against a terrible, definitive and unalterable deal proposal that will determine not just their future but their children's future and their children's children's and so on. What if any of the generations after them would like to change their destiny? Do they feel that they have the right to take that away forever?

Message: As most of us suggested, Prime Minister May would at some point prove her deceit along the way to exit. I am certain she thought no-one would notice? I have tried to remain as pleasant as possible in the hope Mrs May would come to her senses, but clearly this is not now, and never will be the case. Mrs May is a remainer to her core and I no longer believe a single word she has to say. I will NEVER forgive her lying.
Mrs May MUST NOW RESIGN AS A MATTER OF PRINCIPLE as she no longer speaks for the majority who voted in good faith to "Leave the European Union", and one can reasonably suggest she be renamed 'Ted Heath the second' (he being the first Tory Prime Minister to sell-out our country, followed by other deceitful PMs from both major parties). It is now for Tory MPs to grow a backbone and remove Mrs May from office, or they can be certain of being ousted at or before next elections. Tory MPs need to decide with haste to whom they owe their loyalty. Elected MPs have set themselves against the electorate, and it's clear to me they intend to ignore our historic June 2016 vote unless they prove otherwise.
UK DEMOCRACY IS UNDER ATTACK BECAUSE A MAJORITY OF MPs STILL DO NOT ACCEPT THE VOTE!
May I refer readers to the example given in a previous Brexit Facts4EU article, where Prime Minister May stands at the Despatch Box in the House of Commons to answer a question from the Rt Hon Owen Paterson MP in July 2018.
Mrs May's answer may be found here: http://facts4eu.org/news_nove_b_2018.shtml#lies

 OUR FIRST PODCAST
EPISODE 1 - THERESA MAY, PHILP HAMMOND,
AND HONESTY
Brexit Facts4EU.Org offers a new way to experience the facts about Brexit
Note: Some versions of web browsers were auto-playing the podcast, so please use this link to listen to it. It may take a little time to load!
OBSERVATIONS
THIS IS ABOUT THE TOTAL LACK OF CREDIBILITY OF MRS MAY'S GOVERNMENT
Brexit Facts4EU.Org is disappointed at the lack of media objectivity in covering Mrs May's visits around the country. She is being allowed to repeat her lies about the Withdrawal Treaty almost unchallenged. There seems little doubt that her propaganda about her abomination of a 'deal' with the EU is slowly gaining traction amongst the public.
In this environment we felt it was important to try every avenue to get the truth out to the British people. This first podcast is one way of doing this.
With extremely limited funding and little technical expertise we've done something. It took longer than readers can possibly imagine. Or maybe you can.
In any event it's a start. The first podcast was unscripted and recorded live, and it contains some important facts. We hope you like it.

Message: May's deal is rejected - what comes next Second referendum by demand of Corbyn. What are the options on the paper? Say one of the choices is to remain in the EU and it wins - what next? The Government says to the EU the Public have changed their minds - so what is their answer. You have left so you have to rejoin on different terms. Labour and Consevative both ask what might they be? No rebates, no opt outs for starters. Then membership of the EURO and Schengen, plus European Army. Eire say they want a united Ireland possibly for agreeing. What can Macron demand in return? Paris becomes the European banking Centre? Anymore? Boo hoo that's not what we had. Hard luck we are the rulers of Europe.

Message: A fine podcast from Pro-Brexit Facts4EU. All Brexiteers should ensure they pass this around, as anything which brings more readers to Facts4EU the better - people deserve the truth. Remainers DEMANDED facts, and they still DEMAND facts. When they're presented with 100 percent original well researched facts from official sources, they remain in denial. Perhaps the treacherous man on College Green in London who likes getting his face on TV may perhaps learn some real FACTS here at Facts4EU, instead of waving the flag of a non-country.
I sincerely hope readers who enjoyed this podcast and read the factual articles, might consider a small donation to help our common cause. Time is getting short and all Brexiteers [including MPs] need to up our game (yet this is no game). We're 'fighting' for our country, and to honour our forebears who fought and died for our freedoms.
I can guarantee ALL readers ONE thing, remoaners will NEVER provide facts because REAL facts don't suit their remain narrative, but they are the first to complain when something goes wrong. I make no apology for being a passionate Brexiteer.

 EU COLONY TREASURY DEPT
TO SPOUT PROJECT FEAR MK 3
With apologies to the great Hammer House of Horror film company
DISCREDITED HM TREASURY (EU DIVISION)
WILL ONCE AGAIN TRY TO SCARE PUBLIC
Today HM Treasury will once again regale the public with new forecasts of what would happen if the UK leaves the EU under different scenarios.
BREXIT FACTS4EU.ORG SUMMARY
HM TREASURY FORECASTS CONSISTENTLY WRONG
  • HM Treasury forecasts on this have never been remotely correct since before Referendum
  • Hammond was forced to admit to Select Committee that Pre-Ref forecasts had major errors
  • Today they will shamelessly repeat their shoddy work
At the time of writing (4.00am) the Treasury’s latest forecasts of economic Armageddon have not yet been released. However leaks suggest that they will once again predict economic terrors for the British people if the UK leaves the EU on WTO terms.
The Treasury is expected to forecast that if the UK leaves on WTO terms, the economy will be 7.6% lower than if it stayed in the EU, equivalent to around £150 billion.
WRONG THEN, WRONG NOW
The problem for the Treasury is that none of its forecasts regarding an exit from the EU have been remotely correct in the last three years. In fact, not only have they been wrong but the actual results since the Referendum have been the polar opposite of what the Treasury predicted.
Since the Referendum, Brexit Facts4EU.Org has published detailed evidence of the positive economic results and compared them to Treasury forecasts. We will merely cite one example today: that of jobs.
CLASSIC EXAMPLE OF TREASURY INCOMPETENCE
Not only were the Treasury wrong with their forecasts, they were cataclysmically wrong. They could not have been more wrong than if they had thrown some numbers in the air and then chosen the worst possible combination of them to produce the dire forecast they were clearly seeking.
If the people want evidence of the deliberate distortions practised by Philip Hammond and his Treasury Dept, they need look no further than a subject close to the hearts of a great mass of ordinary people across the country.
WHAT DID THEY FORECAST, A MONTH BEFORE THE REFERENDUM?
Only a month before the Referendum HM Treasury issued its now infamous 'Apocalypse Now' forecast of what would happen immediately following a Leave vote. Not what would happen after the UK had left, but what would start happening IMMEDIATELY.
“The central conclusion of the analysis is that the effect of this profound shock would be to push the UK into recession and lead to a sharp rise in unemployment.”
The opposite happened, as everyone now knows.
Below is a Brexit Facts4EU.Org chart, showing HM Treasury’s threat compared to the reality of actual job numbers. As ever we have drawn the actual job numbers from official government statistics from the ONS. These were the latest figures available in August this year, when we first produced this chart.
© Facts4EU.Org 2018
As readers can see, not only did the Treasury’s claims prove to be false, the numbers of new jobs has risen dramatically, rather than falling alarmingly.
HAMMOND WAS FORCED TO RESCIND TREASURY’S FORECASTS COMPLETELY
On 19 October 2016 in evidence to the Treasury Select Committee, Philip Hammond finally admitted the Treasury’s Project Fear forecasts before the Referendum were wrong.
HAMMOND ADMITTING TREASURY FORECASTS
WERE COMPLETELY WRONG, OCT 2016
He said they assumed there would be no policy response to a Leave vote
“and yet the Bank of England has made such policy responses”
“They did not take into account some of the mitigations that we would expect to be delivered”
“They did not assume we would enter into any new Free Trade Agreements”
“The model doesn’t capture all of the potential outcomes”
“Some of those assumptions have already proved to be invalid”
“The Government’s position is that we will not be seeking to pursue any of these modelled outcomes”
IT GETS EVEN WORSE
Astonishingly it gets even worse for the credibility of Philip Hammond and the Prime Minister. Despite giving that evidence to the Select Committee in October 2016, the pro-Remain Chancellor was back at it in August of this year.
On 23 August arch-Remoaner Philip Hammond wrote to the Treasury Select Committee in response to a letter from its Chairman, the arch-Remoaner Nicky Morgan MP. His new dire forecasts were in the same range that he himself was forced to discredit completely in October 2016.
Readers may want to see Mr Hammond’s letter to Mrs Morgan in August, so here it is in full. This letter was immediately published on the government's website and got much national news coverage for the next two days.
It may interest readers to know that this letter was published on the same day that the then Brexit Secretary Dominic Raab was due to publish an assessment from his own department. Curious timing.
OBSERVATIONS
THIS IS ABOUT THE TOTAL LACK OF CREDIBILITY OF MRS MAY'S GOVERNMENT
It really doesn't matter what kind of Armageddon forecasts the Government will be throwing at the British people today.
They were wrong before the Referendum, and wrong after it, as we have demonstrated.
Today Mrs May is continuing her round-the-country tour, with a visit to Scotland. We have offered our full assistance to our friends at Scots for Leave.
THE PRIORITIES RIGHT NOW
Here are what we think are the main priorities for any pro-Brexit group like us:-
  1. Daily attacks on Theresa May's credibility, using clear facts
  2. Daily press conferences (as Theresa is doing) by the big Brexit names
  3. Thousands of letters from ordinary people to their MPs telling them to respect the vote or they'll be voted out
  4. Thousands of letters to Conservative MPs telling them to oust Theresa now, or they'll be ousted
Rallies where big names preach to the converted are fine, but they are not getting the message out to the great mass of voters out there. We firmly believe that this should be the priority.
Whatever your views, please continue to write to us. We read everything, even if we can't always reply to everyone. We really value your input.
And please help us to keep going with a donation, no matter how small. We need to get the full team back onto this so that we can make even more of a difference. We are living in really important days for Brexit.

Message: Further to your previous articles on the economic benefits (or lack of) of the EU Single Market, I was playing around with UK GDP PER CAPITA growth figures (available at the ONS) yesterday and calculated the growth rates between (i) 1968-92 and (ii) 1993-2017, i.e. the two 25 year periods immediately before and after the introduction of the EU single market. The rates were as follows:
1968-1992: 72% (2.2% per annum);
1993-2017: 51% (1.7% per annum)
So using standard remainer methodology and logic, the single market has made each of us £4171 poorer in 2017. The only difference between my analysis and others is that I've used ACTUAL data rather than speculative assumptions. I've also used more robust longer time periods.

Message: What wonderfully inciteful and prescient people we have running our country on the EU's behalf. They are able to forecast, à la Mystic Meg, the effects on the economy of a trade deal that is yet to even be negotiated! How lucky we are.
Of course, we can now also check (unlike the unwilling remainstream media) how accurate their seeming omnipotence at forecasting has been from past results which appear to have never been, unlike a stopped clock, right - not even by accident. Their solution? Repeat the failed warnings but louder. Maybe this time I'll hear the 'plague of locusts' threat, which I'd been looking forward to as my daily entertainment of guessing which way we were going to die pre-referendum if we dared to leave our abuser, the EU now joined by our Government.
We voted to leave the EU. A good deal was a 'nice to have' but was always an unlikely outcome whilst a member and not a deciding factor in the vote. A deal was not on the ballot paper, neither was it a condition of leaving. Just leave on 29th March 2019. It's what was voted for.

Message: I got up early this morning and started my day as usual having a little read on your website. Great article as usual! Today May-bot comes and braves Scotland. Her technicians pretty much left the settings as they were: speeches littered with 'strong and stable partnership', 'best deal we can have, the EU told me so' etc. I think by now we're quite immune to Armageddon forecasts and threats. Strange tactic change though that Maybot has now started threatening us to take away the very thing which started it all: our vote result for Brexit.

 A WISH AND A PRAYER
PM RELIES ON THE EU
ACTING WITH GOOD INTENTIONS
© EU Council
Yes, let's shake on it..............
“Both the UK and the EU are fully committed to having our future relationship in place by 1 January 2021, and the withdrawal agreement has a legal duty on both sides to use best endeavours to avoid the backstop ever coming into force.”
- Theresa May’s statement to the House, 26 Nov 2018
WHAT ARE THE EU’S “BEST ENDEAVOURS”?
Yesterday in her statement to Parliament, Theresa May used the term “best endeavours” three times. This is a term contained in the Withdrawal Treaty and the non-binding Political Declaration.
In relying on this term, the PM is effectively trusting the EU to play fair and to do everything it can to agree a trade deal with the UK by the end of the initial Transition Period, on 31 December 2020.
If not, then the United Kingdom will sink into the bottomless pit of the endless ‘backstop’ from which only the EU can agree to release us – which it won’t, why would it? - or the UK government must seek an extension to the Transition Period which is likely to last for another two years.
During this time the UK will NOT have left the EU in any meaningful sense whatsoever.
DOES THERESA HAVE THE FAINTEST IDEA WHAT THE EU IS LIKE?
In the article below we show an example of the way the EU works. We have published numerous articles about the EU and its trade deals over the years, (you can access them using the Brexit Index here), but below we show one of the more bizarre ones.
A year ago this month the EU finally ratified its ‘trade deal’ with Mongolia. This is one of the EU’s ‘trade deals’ which Remainer MPs tell us we will lose out on, if we leave the EU on WTO terms which is of course the most sensible thing to do now.
OBSERVATIONS
The article that follows this one might seem at first glance to be irrelevant to Brexit.
It’s not. It gives a flavour of the absurd organisation which Theresa May seems to be believe will be serious when it comes to concluding a simple, efficient trade deal with the UK.
All of the UK’s laws are currently in harmony with the EU’s, and if the EU were sensible it would not have been difficult to agree a new trade deal along the lines of the ‘Super-Canada’ deal we have reported on many times.
But the EU is not sensible, logical, or practical. It's ideological. And it’s now clear that the PM never had any intention of really leaving the EU.
When the EU has a trade commissioner who was appointed with absolutely no experience of trade, what appears in the following article is what you get.
Enjoy, Prime Minister.

Message: In the 1970's, the then UK conservative Prime Minister Heath declared before the nation, "there would be no essential loss of sovereignty" (re EEC). Mr Heath lied to the country with this statement, and worse, he knowingly lied which he later went on to admit. His deception may be seen in declassified document FCO 30/1048. Heath also believed "the British public are too ignorant to be involved in governing themselves". In the same manner, conservative Prime Minister May agrees to "best endeavours". This only means she will try, knowing full well it is yet another great deception (my opinion only). Politicians have a habit of playing with words which mean one thing but in practice mean something quite different. It's always the small print people are unaware of. We cannot have a Prime Minister in the House of Commons who knowingly lies at the Despatch Box, for to do so in my judgement, breaks their Oath of office. Mrs May will often be heard saying that Parliament gave the decision on EU membership to the electorate (a large majority of MPs on both sides of the House voted in favour of this). She states our vote must be respected. So with the largest democratic expression in British history, Mrs May (whatever she may say), seeks to keep us shackled to the EU after being humiliated by them, and by doing so, she humiliates our country. She is to continue vast payments to the EU. With respect Prime Minister, we would rather like to keep the billions you 'found' in our own country to spend on our priorities, NOW? The ONLY reason Mrs May is touring the country trying to 'sell' her plan directly to the people can mean only one thing - there is further deception to come. The UK electorate cannot directly vote in the House of Commons, so I suggest all MPs should consider their taxpayer-funded positions. Call me a conspiracy theorist, but business would soon be out of business if they conducted themselves in the manner Mrs May has done. The majority voted to "Leave the European Union" (this does not mean remain). In plain language, it means leaving ALL EU institutions, otherwise we have not left the EU.

Message: The looks on MPs' faces, of all Political hues, was priceless yesterday at May's Parliamentary Statement in Westminster. Whenever anyone asked May a question, and she wibbled some vague reply, they were left totally unenlightened. Much scratching of heads and raising of eyes. Nothing truthful coming out of May's mouth. Again. It would be hilarious if it wasn't so obvious that Theresa May is handicapped by tunnel vision, possessing a childlike determination to get her own way, and is well out of her depth. Theresa May is not, and never has been, suitable to be a Prime Minister of this Nation.

Message: I note that Mrs May has stated that she's done with trying to please everyone. She should never have been trying to "please everyone"! The Referendum result, on a very large turnout, was a clear vote to leave the EU, so the only people she should have been trying to please were those who voted to leave. She and her minions have conspired to cobble together a way of "leaving in name only" and come up with an atrocious muddle that deliberately blurs truth and lies.

Message: Everyone in business knows exactly what 'best endeavours' means. It means zilch, nothing will change but no-one will be accountable for the ensuing mess. It's used when either:-
Two sides will never resolve the issue so they kick the problem down the road when it'll be someone else's problem, or as in this case (apparently)
b) One side (May) doesn't wish to admit that they've actually agreed to the end state, but wants to cover @@se when the inevitable happens and say they tried their best but...
The best description of the Withdrawal Agreement that I've seen is "The WA is a very expensive promise that the EU will consider our request to leave, on condition that we sign away our right to actually leave."

 CELEBRATING 1ST ANNIVERSARY
OF IMPORTANT EU ‘TRADE DEAL’
Herding in Mongolia   © EU Commission
MONGOLIA
This month we celebrate the 1st anniversary of the latest ‘trade deal’ to be ratified by the EU – that of Mongolia.
November 2017 saw a significant moment in the history of Ulaanbaatar. The EU gathered in force in the capital of the tiny country of Mongolia to ratify the ‘trade deal’ which it had concluded on 30 April 2013.
It had taken four and a half years since the deal was first signed to get it ratified by all 28 member states of the European Union.
ER.... MONGOLIA?
Here is how the EU describes Mongolia:
“Mongolia is a vast, landlocked and sparsely populated country. Half its population lives in rural areas. Agricultural production, dominated by nomadic herding, accounts for about 20% of gross domestic product. The country is moving from a centrally-planned to a market-based economy; a transition accompanied by a significant rural-urban migration.”
The EU’s Partnership and Cooperation Agreement (PCA) with Mongolia came into force on 1st November 2017, replacing the 1993 Agreement on trade and economic cooperation between what was then the European Economic Community and Mongolia.
BREXIT FACTS4EU.ORG SUMMARY
EU'S TRADE PARTNER: MONGOLIA
  • Population : 3 million
  • Capital : Ulaanbaatar
  • Language : Mongolian
  • GDP : USD $11 bn (£8.5bn)
  • It would take the EU 241 Mongolia's to match the size of the UK economy
  • Currency : Tögrög
“The European Union and Mongolia are consolidating their strong ties, based on shared values and interests, and a common will to work more closely together.”
- Federica Mogherini, the EU’s de facto Foreign Secretary.
THE DEAL
The agreement runs to 45 pages and you can read it here. It contains 65 Articles, only 14 of which are in the trade section. Of these 14 Articles, some are rather basic. For example:-
ARTICLE 22
Capital movements
The Parties shall endeavour to facilitate the movement of capital in order to promote the objectives of the Agreement.
AND
ARTICLE 26
Regional policy
The Parties shall encourage the regional development policy.
TRADE DEAL UPGRADE
As one of the poorest countries in the world, (ranked 133rd by the IMF), Mongolia already benefits from an advantageous trade arrangement with the EU known as GPA+.
As the EU’s new ‘Mongolia Delegation’ says: “Mongolia receives complete suspension for 66% of EU tariff lines, thereby effectively getting free access to the EU market, contributing to the growth of its economy.”
THE EU DELEGATION TO MONGOLIA
EU signs Delegation agreement in Mongolia                                               © EU Commission
There are 22 delegates from the EU in the picture above and just one Mongolian. It was taken last year in the capital Ulaanbaatar at the ceremony to establish the EU’s ‘Delegation to Mongolia’. We have other pictures where over 30 EU officials are present. With translators and assistants the EU's juncket must have involved over 50 people.
The new EU Ambassador is Herr Hans Dietmar Schweisgut, who has been awarded with the Order of the Polar Star by Mongolian President, the highest honour that can be given to a foreigner. The EU announced with great pride that this is the EU’s 140th Delegation around the world.
OBSERVATIONS
WHY ARE WE TELLING YOU THIS?
If Theresa May has any basis whatsoever for promoting her disastrous Withdrawal Treaty and Political Declaration, it can only be on the basis of the EU acting as a rational and amicable body which will do everything it can to conclude a trade deal with the UK within the 21 months of the Transition Period.
In the years we have been researching and publishing facts about the EU, we have never found this to be the case.
Their priorities are often bizarre, their rationale flawed by ideological thinking, and their overall incompetence is typical of any totalitarian organisation.
THIS PRIME MINISTER IS DELUDED
If Theresa is relying on goodwill and efficiency from the EU, she’s living in cloud cuckoo land.
Her abomination of a ‘deal’ with the EU simply has to be laughed out of court – now. All precedent shows the EU to be incompetent at trade deals and malign in its intent to any challenge to its authority.
So that means a choice between the Backstop or a prolongation of the Transition Period. Both of these are simply unconscionable, given the largest democratic vote in British history, to leave the EU.
Leaving on normal WTO terms with some side agreements on citizens, flights, and some other matters is the only way to go now.

PROOF POSITIVE THE PM IS LYING
ABOUT HER ‘DEAL’ WITH THE EU
© EU Council
One shocking example of how the PM is deliberately misleading the people
The Prime Minister Theresa May is now engaged on a highly-misleading public campaign, even appealing over the heads of MPs to the British public, with an open letter.
BREXIT FACTS4EU.ORG SUMMARY
PROOF THE PM IS LYING - ONE CLEAR EXAMPLE
  • PM said yesterday that access to UK coastal waters is not tied to future trade deal
  • EU said the exact opposite
  • This is one lie she can't fudge her way out of
Theresa May aims to persuade the public – and MPs – to back her preposterous Withdrawal Treaty, and her Political Declaration on future arrangements with the EU. She is doing so by telling lies about it.
Here we expose just one of those lies, made in her official statement yesterday in Brussels.
ONE EXAMPLE OF HOW THE PM HAS LIED ABOUT HER DEAL
We have chosen the example of the control of the UK’s territorial waters. The reason is simple: it’s easily understood by everyone, and it follows on from the article we published on this subject on Friday.
It also demonstrates in the clearest possible way how the Prime Minister is lying about her ‘deal’ with the EU.
HERE IS WHAT EACH SIDE SAYS IN THE OFFICIAL STATEMENTS
“And in fishing, it does not just deliver a bigger annual quota within the Common Fisheries Policy, it sets us free of the CFP for good and forever. The UK will be an independent coastal state once again, in full sovereign control of our waters, able to decide for ourselves who we allow to fish in them, with that access not tied to any other aspect of our economic partnership. That is in our national interest too.”
- PM's EU Council press statement: 25 Nov 2018, issued by No.10 and Rt Hon Theresa May MP
2. EU Council – Official EU statement
“…the European Council will demonstrate particular vigilance as regards safeguarding the rights and interests of citizens, the necessity to maintain ambitious level playing field conditions and to protect fishing enterprises and coastal communities.
“This will apply both when assessing the implementation of the Withdrawal Agreement, if the backstop is to be operationalized, and when considering the future relationship, in particular in the field of environment regarding the alignment to European standards.
“As recalled in the Withdrawal Agreement, a fisheries agreement is a matter of priority, and should build on, inter alia, existing reciprocal access and quota shares. Such an agreement should be negotiated well before the end of the transition period.”
- EU official minutes, EU Summit, Declaration regarding Withdrawal Agreement & Political Declaration, 25 Nov 2018
CLEAR AND UNEQUIVOCAL PROOF OF THE PM’S LIES
On this issue, typical of all those contained in Theresa May’s disastrous ‘deal’ with the EU, Brexit Facts4EU.Org has demonstrated very clearly above how the Prime Minister is lying about it.
The EU Council’s statement flatly contradicts what the PM is telling the British people and Parliament.
The extraordinary thing is that in its document the EU even singled out the subject of access to UK territorial waters and fishing quotas.
Mrs May says that the UK will have ‘full sovereign control’ over access to the UK’s coastal waters and that this is “not tied to any other aspect of our economic partnership”.
The EU Council says the precise opposite. They say it is linked to discussions of the future relationship and that it will be based on “existing reciprocal access and quota shares”.
Brexit Facts4EU.Org could go further and quote the statement by the French President, Emmanuel Macron yesterday: “We as 27 have a clear position on fair competition, on fish, and on the subject of the EU's regulatory autonomy, and that forms part of our position for the future relationship talks.”
In other words, the EU27 expects - and has stated explicitly - that any future trade deal will be dependent on ‘fair competition’ (which means the UK being unable to pass new laws which could make the UK more efficient), and on access to the UK's territorial waters amongst many other things.
OBSERVATIONS
We use the term “lies” and “lying”, as we consider Mrs May to be deliberately misleading the British public and MPs on fundamental issues. In common parlance these words are the ones which ordinary people would use, so we use them.
We deeply regret having to refer to the Prime Minister in the terms we have been using for over 18 months now, since her actions proved to us that she had no intention of honouring the result of the Referendum.
We would suggest to readers that we have provided one of the clearest examples yet that the PM is demonstrably lying to the people of the United Kingdom.
We consider the words and actions of the Prime Minister to be a disgrace and we call on all Conservative MPs to act to remove her forthwith.
We further propose that those Brexit groups which have serious funding should launch an urgent legal action against her office and her government.

Message: EU GERMAN DIKTAT AND UK SILLY DOVE - So true of UK as the silly dove. Hosea 7:11. So Ephraim has become like a silly dove, without sense; They call to Egypt, they go to Assyria. Ephraim also is like a silly dove without heart - A bird that has little understanding; that is easily snared and taken; that is careless about its own young, and seems to live without any kind of thought. It has been made, by those who, like itself, are without heart, the symbol of conjugal affection. Nothing worse could have been chosen, for the dove and its mate are continually quarrelling. They call to Egypt, they go to Assyria - They strive to make these their allies and friends; but in this they showed that they were without heart, had not a sound understanding; for these were rival nations, and Israel could not attach itself to the one without incurring the jealousy and displeasure of the other. Thus, like the silly dove, they were constantly falling into snares; sometimes of the Egyptians, at others of the Assyrians. By the former they were betrayed; by the latter, ruined.

“We shall go on to the end, we shall fight in France, we shall fight on the seas and oceans, we shall fight with growing confidence and growing strength in the air, we shall defend our Island, whatever the cost may be, we shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills; we shall never surrender…”

‘We shall go on to the end, we shall surrender in Belgium, we shall give away our seas, we shall give ground everywhere, we shall surrender our island whatever we have to pay Brussels, we shall welcome them on the beaches, we shall welcome them at our airports, we shall surrender in the Commons and in the Lords, we shall obey their rules and do what they say, we shall fully surrender…’

(Not her words, but our interpretation.)
WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?
The EU27 leaders are meeting in Brussels at 8.30am UK time. There will be ‘an exchange of views’ with the President of the EU Parliament and the Council will then consider the agreement for an hour before Mrs May will be invited in.
A press conference is scheduled for 11.00am UK time, at which EU Council President Tusk and EU Commission President Juncker will make statements. We expect this to start later than scheduled.
WHAT DOES THE EU SAY ABOUT THE ‘AGREEMENT’
The EU is being very careful not to crow at the abject surrender represented by its draft agreement with Mrs May.
OBSERVATIONS
It is hard to put into words our feelings about Mrs May’s treachery. We’re sure many readers feel the same way.
Perhaps we should quote a reader who emailed us overnight. Normally a mild-mannered person, here is what this Conservative Party activist wrote:
“There are many in the Brexit world who still think this is all a game.
“No, this is for real.
“Aren't you fed up hearing people saying that in years gone by this would be treachery? I tell them it IS TREASON, NOW, and that the Treason Laws have never been erased from the Statute Book.”
And this was from a very loyal Conservative Party member.
May must be stopped - now.

Message: To all MPs. Just say 'No' and vote down May's Brexit Chequers Withdrawal Agreement. It gives all rights away, and ties us in for ever. The moment is now: boot May out. She is not only a complete embarrassment but is deceitful and more than happy to throw us to the EU wolves.
Leaders around the world cannot believe that such a strong Nation as Britain is being kicked around, punched, punished and all this by easy coercion of our flabby, unethical, joke of a Prime Minister.
The Tory Party is perilously close to ending its days for many decades because of May's dirty tricks. She's trying to turn us into an EU Colony. Betrayal by a minority imposed on a majority. It'll never be accepted by us.

Message: Hidden away ad presented later - we want a large slice of your cake now we puppet May dangling!! Meanwhile Emmanuel Macron, the French president, stressed that the EU would demand continued access to British fishing waters after Brexit after the bloc set its red lines for future trade negotiations with Britain. A UK-EU trade deal will be made conditional on Britain granting the EU-27 fishing rights, on the UK signing up to EU standards on tax, environment and state aid, and the agreement will only apply to Gibraltar if Spain gives its explicit permission. The EU-27 published minutes to their meeting, held before Theresa May was invited to join her fellow leaders in endorsing the Brexit deal, that laid bare the bloc’s demands.

Message: Hello to all at Facts4EU who are working so hard to get the voices of the 17.4 million heard.
Like your loyal Conservative reader who wrote to you overnight, I believe Theresa May is guilty of treason. I am so very angry right now at what she is being allowed to do, particularly when I hear her say that "the British public do not want to spend any more time arguing about Brexit". No Mrs May, YOU do not want to spend any more time arguing about Brexit. Her statement that this is "the only deal possible" is the most telling and downright appalling thing she has said in this whole sorry process. The truth is, she hasn't tried. I think she decided long ago that it was just too much of an effort to stand up to the EU so she just caved in, time after time. I've mentioned this before but I now feel that it is high time all the Leave groups rallied their followers and gather in London to show Mrs May just how wrong she is in thinking that she is carrying out the wishes of the British people. She simply has no idea. Normally I would finish by saying 'sorry, rant over' but I'm just getting started...

Message: Many months ago, I stated on this site that as part of the Brexit process, May would cede sovereignty to Gibraltar. Well she just has. Any future EU-UK deal will not apply to Gibraltar, but must be negotiated separately between the EU and Spain. I've been trying to think what it is that motivates May to behave in the way she does. How can she be pushing for a total surrender of the Country's sovereignty to a foreign power? I can think of only three possible reasons:
1. The EU has promised her some sort of reward, such as the Commission presidency. This seems unlikely as she is clearly so hopelessly weak and timid on the World stage, and wouldn't want such a job.
2. The EU is using some kind of blackmail, and they have evidence that she has acted illegally. Again, unlikely. I doubt she has ever even had a parking ticket.
3. Insanity. Her behaviour is often totally bizarre, particularly the way she constantly lies about Brexit, both publicly and in the House. Her lies are so obvious and absurd, that she must actually believe them herself. She is deluded.
Martin Howe QC in his assessment of May's withdrawal agreement said that "You would have to be mad, completely mad to accept this deal", and I think he was spot on. She really is completely deranged and psychotic, and completely unfit to govern. Some have said that she is guilty of treason, and I agree, but she wouldn't face jail by reason of insanity!!

Message: I see from Tusk's letter that they see another 4 years of total control and money on demand after March next year. A two year period to discuss the 'framework for co-operation' with a possible (meaning probable) extension of another two years after that.
Pardon my French, but this 'agreement' is really a piece of sh!t. It's also unconstitutional as it seeks to bind future Governments. Do I hear Schema Miller calling for court cases over an obvious surrender of our sovereignty, a subject she claims that she's passionate about? Oh, wait...
Let's be clear, this abomination of a 'backstop' is for one purpose. It is to prevent any future pro-leave PM and party from ever fulfilling the mandate that the people gave. Anyone who was involved in or supports this drivel should be kicked out and barred from ever holding office ever again.
WTO terms are fine. We will deal with whatever comes, but it will be OUR laws drawn up by OUR elected MPs and they will be accountable to the electorate for their actions.

Message: An excellent article showing the difference between the above leaders. Churchill a true Statesman and patriot, while Mrs May will forever be the face of UK surrender.
This is not who we are as a proud nation and Mrs May should resign the office of Prime Minister immediately, before she is forced out by MPs. I would much prefer Mrs May to resign with some dignity. We only lend MPs our votes, and can take away our votes come elections.
No British Prime Minister or Member of Parliament has the right to give away my sovereignty to a foreign power, and I point blank refuse to be governed from Brussels from the end of March 2019.
In 2016, we witnessed the largest democratic exercise in British history resulting in a majority to Leave the European Union. We were given promises by the bucket load. This was backed up by a General Election in 2017 where both main parties produced manifestos to exit. Around eighty percent of the electorate voted accordingly with full knowledge.
It would be reasonable to suggest British people have again been deceived. I would personally rip up all negotiations, install a Brexiteer MP to take over from Mrs May, then start again with business people who know what they're doing and who believe in Brexit.
Mrs May says she now intends to campaign with her heart and soul for her deal. We heard former PM Cameron use that same slogan.
I am lost for words that our Prime Minister has sold us out, and I have no doubts MPs will pay a heavy price.

 Q: WHO PRODUCES A 585-PAGE DOCUMENT
WITH NO INDEX AND NO SUMMARY?
A: AN ORGANISATION THAT DOESN’T WANT YOU TO READ IT
© EU Commission
Brexit Facts4EU.Org publishes an index of the 585-page Withdrawal Agreement
If you didn’t want anyone to read a very long document you had produced, or to be able to find a specific subject contained in it, what would you do?
  1. Don’t produce an Executive Summary of it
  2. Don’t produce a contents page or index
On 14 November the EU published the Draft Withdrawal Agreement and the first version of the Political Declaration on future trading relations.
Neither contained a summary or index of contents. This ‘error’ can only have been deliberate. A document of 585 pages (in the case of the legally-binding Withdrawal Agreement) is impossible to work on, unless you have an index.
HELP IS AT HAND
A Brexit Facts4EU.Org reader, Helen Martinek, undertook the laborious task of indexing the entire document.
We are pleased to make this available as a Word document here. Please note that this work is copyrighted and permission must be sought from organisations wishing to use it.
Readers who don't have Word, please contact us for an open source version.
As a reminder here is a link to the 585-page Withdrawal Agreement – more properly a Treaty. And here is a link to the new, bloated 'Political Declaration on future trading and other arrangements.
OBSERVATIONS
This Index alone runs to 17 pages – unsurprising given the length of the original document – and is a major piece of work. We congratulate Helen for doing this, as it truly must have been a mammoth task.
We will be alerting all other Brexit organisations to its existence, and we thought you would like to see it first here.

Who could have suspected that amongst the hundreds of highly paid snivel serpents in the civil disservice working 'on our behalf' (cough) on Remain's version of leaving could have 'omitted' such a fundamental element of assistance. Complicit in this is the Cabinet, who also don't appear to want anyone to easily access and see the depths of their treachery. Anyone might think that they were trying to hide the detail of their treason from the people.

UK ECONOMY LEADS MAJOR EU ECONOMIES......... 'DESPITE BREXIT'
Not only did the UK outperform the other three major economies of the EU (those who are part of the G20) in the last quarter, its economic growth was double that of the average for all EU member states.
And Germany – the most important economy in the EU – fell into negative territory, reporting a loss of -0.2%, compared to the UK’s growth of +0.6%.

TO WESTMINSTER BUBBLERS
Yes, we know that this information was reported, but we simply do not believe that the majority of the people across the country are aware of it.

We hope readers find our simple, positive reports like this useful.

Message: These figures show what the EU is afraid of as these are from within the restrictive EU straitjacket that we're currently in.
What is frustrating and angering me is that the pollies are not repeating what is patently obvious. We already have a 'natural' backstop. It's leaving the EU without an agreement and reverting to WTO terms. Any 'deal' must be provably better than our backstop, without ceding any sovereignty. The backstop is the benchmark to which any 'deal' is compared. Nothing that I've seen has bettered the backstop.
No doubt the same project fear and 'cliff edge' threats were also aimed at the Americans who 'crashed out' of the British Empire, without a deal, in 1776. I am utterly sick of the pollies putting party before the country, 'politicking' with our future and selling their souls for a knighthood. Unless those purporting to support leave start actually fighting back properly and loudly they will also be part of the electoral bonfire that will come.

Message: Hi I'm here to make the peace. A while back I disagreed with the subject matter of some of your articles and we sort of fell out. Despite this, I think we all want the same thing. The reason for contacting you has been triggered by the constant remainer narrative that no deal would be "catastrophic" or similar nonsense. My worry is that this is gaining traction among the general public and I'm not hearing convincing counter arguments from Leavers. I suspect that this might be because they are not fully informed. I have read most of the WTO Trade Facilitation Agreement as well as well-researched opinion and am convinced (as you probably are) that a No Deal Brexit would not be a disaster. In fact I'm not sure we would even notice it. The question is - How can we get this message out there ... again and again and again. I feel it is on this issue that most of the upcoming battles will be won and lost. Regards.
Reply from Brexit Facts4EU.Org: Hi John. We didn't fall out did we? We just had a healthy debate, we seem to recall!
We agree with you 100% about the Remainer narrative gaining traction, and about your views on a WTO terms exit. As to your question about how we get the message out there, you're right. It MUST get out there.
We must tread carefully in what we say here. We've been spending a lot of time behind the scenes trying to ensure that everyone on the Brexit side appreciates the urgency of working together. If you - and all readers - feel this is important, please shout loudly. Not to us because you'll be preaching to the converted. We've been arguing this since before the Referendum.
Please email the groups you support (you can copy us in) and tell them that we must work together and promote each other's work.

 HERE’S WHY THERESA
GOT SUCH A BAD DEAL
THERESA MAY ON EMMA BARNETT SHOW, BBC RADIO 5
“I believe if we were to go back to the European Union and say: Well people didn't like that deal, can we have another one? ... I don't think they're going to come to us and say: We'll give you a better deal.”
DEFEATIST, SUPPLICANT MAY
“Can we have another deal?” ???
This is precisely why we have ended up where we are. A clueless Prime Minister who thinks we have to ask permission of the EU, instead of negotiating from a strong and confident position.
The EU initially refused to discuss the UK’s future relationship with the EU until its three topics of the financial settlement, citizens’ rights, and the N.I. border had been agreed.
Indeed, it wouldn’t even discuss all other aspects of the UK’s exit until these three items were settled. Quite astonishingly this Prime Minister caved in without a fight.
We would suggest that this was the definitive moment when the EU knew they were dealing with a fool, and could press on to demand the seemingly impossible. And the seemingly impossible is now what the PM is trying to foist on the British public, with a wholly false propaganda campaign.
SOME MORE KEY DATES IN THE MAY SURRENDER
On 7 December 2017, Mrs May agreed informal terms with the EU. She returned in triumph after her meetings in Brussels, almost waving a metaphorical piece of paper.
It was only later that the EU announced that no discussions of the future relationship would start until March 2018. It was in March of this year that the full text of the appalling withdrawal agreement Mrs May had made were published – by the EU.
We then had the fiasco of Theresa’s Chequers Plan in July, which somehow now appears to have been dropped from her vocabulary. This was dreamt up by her unelected civil servants in No.10, behind the backs of the DExEU ministers.
Following the Chequers debacle, on 24 July 2018 Theresa May formally announced in Parliament a “Machinery of Government Change”, giving MPs no time to respond before the summer recess.
This gave formal effect to what had already been going on for many weeks. DExEU were no longer in charge of Brexit.
“…the Europe Unit will have overall responsibility for the preparation and conduct of the negotiations, drawing upon support from DExEU and other Departments as required.”
- Theresa May written statement, House of Commons, 24 July 2018
The ‘Europe Unit’ is led by the unelected civil servant Olly Robbins and is composed entirely of unelected bureaucrats. It is universally accepted that the Whitehall element of the civil service is comprised of Remainers, virtually to a man and woman.
The takeover of the people’s vote to leave the EU, by arch-Remainers in parliament and the Establishment, was complete.
WHERE WERE THE MASS RESIGNATIONS?
With the Brexit negotiations then placed under the official control of these Remainer civil servants on 24 July, the entire cabinet should have resigned in protest. A leadership contest could – and should - then have taken place.
This would have given plenty of time to prepare for an exit on WTO terms – something we have argued for from the beginning. Instead, only David Davis and Boris Johnson resigned from the Cabinet.
In the intervening eight months since negotiations continued on the Withdrawal Treaty, and since negotiations started on the Political Declaration on future trading arrangements, the best that Theresa May could do was the woolly, unenforceable wish-list which was published on Thursday. This is supposed to be the document in which the UK’s future trading relationship with the EU is outlined. It was supposed to have been ‘substantive’.
Crucially it is also the document which is supposed to persuade the UK government and Parliament to agree to pay the EU a minimum sum of £39 billion of hard-earned taxpayer money. (And it will be a lot more than that, believe us.)
THE COUNTRY CAN’T WAIT FOR POLITICAL CAREER DECISIONS
Mrs May wasn’t ousted in July because MPs were about to go on holiday for over two months, and senior Brexiteers didn’t feel the moment was right.
The latest delay is because of two reasons.
  1. The remaining ‘Brexiteers’ in Cabinet say they want to try to change Theresa’s mind, and at least get the Northern Ireland backstop removed.
  2. Secondly, Brexiteer MPs outside Cabinet want to wait for ‘an event’. The next ‘event’ is the vote in the Commons on the Withdrawal Treaty and Political Declaration, scheduled for over two weeks’ time.
WE HAVE SOMETHING TO SAY ON BEHALF OF READERS
All these delays by politicians are getting us nowhere. Months have gone by since this should all have been brought to a head. Now we’re being asked to wait another two weeks until the Commons debate.
Where does this end?
Theresa May’s Treaty which she will doubtless agree in principle in Brussels this weekend is an abomination – the worst deal ever done by any British Prime Minister, ever.
THERE IS SOMETHING POSITIVE YOU CAN DO!
We must inundate all Conservative MPs with visits, letters, calls, and emails, in that order. Emails on their own are NOT enough. MPs must see the sheer volume of feeling in the country at large, and they get thousands of emails and so will largely discount them.
There is no time to lose. We strongly urge you to act today.
We also urge you to visit, write to, or call your MP even if he or she is from another party. They must all be told their jobs are under serious threat if they don’t respect in full the result of the Referendum.
Below is the information on what to do, and how to do it. It’s backed by 14 Brexit organisations. Please don’t put this off.

Message: Unfortunately my local MP is Ben Lake of Plaid (1st) having won the seat from LDs (2nd), and I have frequently written (letters and emails) to Mr. Lake he therefore knows I support Brexit and would not believe a threat to switch to the LDs so I have little hope of using that tactic. Any other suggestions, or should I move my focus to the media?
Reply: Hi Russell, good question. What we suggest in the Brexit Battle Pack is that if you essentially have a choice of two Remainers, you can tell your MP that you'll vote for his challenger, on the basis that your MP is supposed to be representing you (and respecting the Referendum result) but isn't. You can say it doesn't matter to you which Remainer MP you have. The key point is that it's the MP who will be voting in the HoC, so he's the one you are holding responsible. The main thing is for your MP to feel his job is under threat unless he starts to respect democracy.
Apart from that, definitely start complaining to the media about their bias!

Message: I'm not convinced that there has really been any significant change in public attitude to No Deal, it is just the constant Remoanist drivel churned out by the BBC, Guardian, etc which creates a false impression.
During a recent interview, May was asked 3 times if she would resign if her deal was rejected by the Commons, and each time she dodged the question, so we can take that as a 'yes'. Also, whereas before she said "It's my deal or no deal", she now says 'It's my deal or we are back to square one". I'm sure that her successor would have no difficulty getting a Canada style FTA, particularly now that the EU has admitted that electronic means can be used at the Irish border.

FISHING IS DEAD IN THE WATER
© Fishing for Leave
IT’S NOT WHAT THE PM SAYS
IT’S WHAT THE EU DOES THAT MATTERS
NOTE: Fishing is one example of how Mrs May is misleading people.
This applies to all other parts of her 'deal' too.
The combination of Theresa May’s Withdrawal Treaty and latest “Future Arrangements” document produce possibly the worst international agreement ever made by a country.
Below we use the example of the UK’s fisheries industry. We could have picked other examples, but a country being able to control its own waters is a totemic issue which highlights some fundamental points.
Then in the article below this one, we reproduce the overnight reaction from Fishing for Leave to Mrs May’s ‘deal’ that she is planning to sign on Sunday.
FIRST, WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO UK FISHING UNDER THE EU?
We thought we would start with the overview. Below are some simple charts. Here at Brexit Facts4EU.Org we think that they tell a simple story.
They took an enormous amount of research from official sources, as usual, but we believe that for ordinary people who are busy with their lives, “a picture paints a thousand words”.
BREXIT FACTS4EU.ORG SUMMARY
THE EU’S COMMON FISHERIES POLICY
  • In each of the last 25 years, UK has lost an average of 4 boats per week from the fleet
  • In some years, as many as 20 boats per week were mothballed or scrapped
  • The UK's fishing fleet has almost halved in 25 years
  • The UK - a maritime, island nation - has become a net importer of fish
THE DECIMATION OF BRITISH FISHING BY THE EU
Firstly let’s look at the bald facts. We looked at five key metrics:-
  • The size of the fleet in numbers of boats
  • Numbers of fishermen employed
  • The tonnage of fish landed by British boats
  • The tonnage of fish imported
  • The UK increasingly becoming a new importer

OBSERVATIONS
We hope that this summary and the angry comments from Fishing for Leave below will illuminate a central point.
Mrs May lies. She does so continuously. Perhaps a more charitable term would be that she is ‘economical with the vérité’. We prefer to call it lying, because she is deliberately using forms of words to mislead the British people about what she is proposing to sign up to on Sunday.
Despite the reassurances that she gave to the House yesterday – and particularly to SNP and Scottish Conservative MPs - she is about to sell the UK’s fishermen down the river… again.
Below we publish in full the overnight reaction from Fishing for Leave. We invite readers to look at this, to see how Mrs May’s words and the reality of what will almost certainly happen under her disastrous deal are at odds with each other.
USE OUR SIMPLE TOOL TO SEND A LETTER TODAY
We urge all readers to do at least one simple action this morning. It is all described in the article we published on Wednesday. Thank you.
[ Sources: As always, the facts come from official sources. In this case we were also able to access archived data from the Marine Management Organisation (MMO) and its antecedents going back many years. Message: Dear Prime Minister,
If you seriously think that the so call 'deal' you claim to have negotiated is the best you can do for Britain then might I suggest you aren't the best person to be Prime Minister of Britain.
You statement 'the EU will not offer a better deal' isn't relevant; we didn't vote for any offered deal, we voted to Leave the EU end of. You decided to attempt to do a 'deal' when all a competent Prime Minister had to do was to repeal the European Communities Act of 1972 and the rest would have followed quite sensibly.
You are clearly at odds with the electorate and not capable of uttering one honest word. If you, as you claim, have the best interests of the country at heart you would quit and let someone capable do the job you are being paid by the electorate to do.

Message: What an absolute disgrace this Govt is. The gimp PM, supported by the Capo Cabinet, have deliberately conspired with a foreign power to frustrate a democratic mandate. We did not vote to leave bits of the EU, as she seems to say we did. We voted to LEAVE. That's the whole kit and caboodle, lock stock and barrel. In this Vichy Govt's head, all of the obligations - shut up, pay and obey are legally enforceable, whilst any potential benefits are vague unenforceable possibilities tempered by promises of further cedence of control to the EU whilst simultaneously hobbling us to achieve any independent trade outside the EU where the majority of our business is.
The future that she has in mind was clear as she no longer refers to the UK as an island nation, but a 'coastal state'. Of what? A coastal state is part of a larger country that does not 'own' the territorial waters off its coast. Maine is a coastal state in the US. The territorial waters off Maine belong to the US, not Maine. This 'future' seems clearly to be what's in mind. What a disgrace that an island country has to pay to import its own fish caught by foreign fleets.
The diminution of our fleet over 25 years is horrendous, but that start point was already a low after the devastating impact of our original entry to the EEC and creation of the CFP. Just how a Govt can willingly complete the destruction of an industry for a foreign power, whilst simultaneously and wilfully ignoring the fantastic opportunity of re-organic growth of 'real' jobs in coastal communities, with all the ancillary services to fishing plus the prosperity generating demand for other services, is a clear indication that they do not serve the interests of this country at all.
This woman, her entire Cabinet and the senior snivel serpents are guilty of the highest treason against this country. Restore the death penalty for treason and let the arrests begin.

PM seems to be completely locked in a delusional world stuffed with things that doesn't work in real life. Her delusions don't translate to practicalities. She herself doesn't translate to what I would call a normal person.
Must go.

 UK FISHERMEN
FILLET THERESA'S DEAL
© Fishing for Leave
"The PM saying that this is not the case at the dispatch box this evening (22nd Nov) means she’s either an idiot or a liar."
BREXIT FACTS4EU.ORG PREAMBLE
Below we are publishing the opinion of the experts at Fishing for Leave on Theresa May's Withdrawal Treaty and 'Future Arrangements' political declaration, as well as their views on her testimony to the House of Commons yesterday afternoon.
It clearly shows that the deal which Mrs May is proposing to sign on Sunday is not what the public are being led to believe.
Our preceding article above shows in 5 simple charts what has happened to our fishing fleet and fishermen thanks to the EU. Together with this article by Fishing for Leave below, we believe this represents a damning indictment of the Prime Minister's travesty of a deal with the EU.
WITHDRAWAL AGREEMENT & FUTURE RELATIONSHIP
ENVELOPES UK IN CFP ASSOCIATE MEMBERSHIP
By Njordr AB, Fishing for Leave
Across the political spectrum there have been demands that there must be no surrender of the governments red-line that access for markets will not be linked to access to fisheries. Those still seeking assurance miss that the horse has bolted.
These commitments were sought and made to avoid British fisheries resources being levered and bartered yet again as part of a wider future relationship agreement.
WITHDRAWAL AGREEMENT LINKS MARKETS AND ACCESS
Protocol Article 6 of the Withdrawal Agreement runs a coach and horses through the Ministerial and White paper commitments. The government has already flagrantly capitulated on markets and access being linked by agreeing to Article 6.
This is despite Michael Gove and George Eustice saying this is a red-line that wouldn’t be breached – their promises and authority are hopelessly undermined by what Mrs May and her negotiators have agreed.
PROTOCOL – ARTICLE 6
Single customs territory – movement of goods – page 311:-
“…fishery and aquaculture products….shall not be covered…, unless an agreement on access to waters and fishing opportunities is applicable between the Union and the United Kingdom.”
The government has therefore (in breach of all promises) already agreed that unless the UK cough up access for EU boats to continue fishing in British waters then the EU will deny access for fisheries and aquaculture products.
The PM saying this is not the case at the dispatch box this evening
means she’s either an idiot or a liar.
FUTURE RELATIONSHIP IS CFP ASSOCIATE MEMBERSHIP
© Twitter / unknown
The Future Relationship wording may not explicitly state that the UK must forfeit our fisheries to continued obedience of the CFP – the EU would not want to jeopardise the Withdrawal Agreement that gives them total UK capitulation to being a vassal state by being openly antagonistic on such a totemic issue.
What the Future Relationship agreement does is leaves the door wide open to the UK being levered (using market access and fisheries access being linked) into agreeing associate membership of the CFP in a quiet room out of the public spotlight in the future.
With the performance of the UKs supine political establishment thus far there is little doubt that they would cave in to the agreed text below that shepherds the UK towards being bound in ‘a’ CFP rather than ‘the’ CFP.
MPs saying the UK will be an independent coastal state and who cite XII. FISHING OPPORTUNITIES Point 74 “preserving regulatory autonomy” miss that this is no defence.
The UK may officially, legally be an independent non-EU member, enforcing her laws under her own steam.
However, these laws will be set subject to the wider fisheries agreement with the EU – as agreed as part of the overall economic partnership outlined in Point 75.
Furthermore, Point 74 continues: “the Parties should cooperate on the development of measures for the conservation, rational management and regulation of fisheries, in a non-discriminatory manner.”
Non-discrimination was the principle upon which the CFP foundation of “equal access to a common resource”.
Article 18 – Treaty on the Functioning of the EU (TFEU) – defines non-discrimination as the prohibition of ‘any discrimination on grounds of nationality’.
Simply – the select word choice of ‘non-discrimination’ is not accidental. Historically, and in legal practice, when applied to fisheries it means ‘equal access’ – the founding principle of the CFP continued.
XII. FISHING OPPORTUNITIES Point 75
States that fisheries management and access will be negotiated; “Within the context of the overall economic partnership”.
This leaves fisheries wide open to being sacrificed yet again as negotiating capital using markets and access being linked as the lever.
It also means any fisheries agreement will be subject to the wider context of the future relationship which must ensure “provisions ensuring a level playing field for open and fair competition” (i.e. regulatory alignment) – as set out in Protocol Section XIV.
With Point 75 concluding “the Parties should establish a new fisheries agreement on, inter alia, access to waters and quota shares.”
Taken together this means the government has flagrantly capitulated on another red line – that the Withdrawal Agreement wouldn’t link or see provision for market access to be used to lever fisheries access.
Worse, the future relationship agreement would oblige the UK (although officially an independent state passing and enforcing the rules) to ensure those rules were on the basis of ‘non-discrimination’ (i.e. equal access) and under the wider rules of a ‘level playing field’ (i.e. regulatory alignment with EU rules).
What has been agreed is terms which allow for the slow envelopment of the UK using the lever of access to markets into not ‘the’ CFP but ‘a’ CFP – associate membership under a different name.
It may not be called the CFP [Common Fisheries Policy] – but if it walks like the CFP, and quacks like the CFP then it is the CFP.
ANY TRANSITION FATAL
The Transition alone is fatal for British fishing and can now be extended for 2 years until 2023 – despite MPs and ministers staking their reputation otherwise.
The transition gives the EU the power to; cut UK quotas; barter UK resources in international agreements and abolish the 12nm that protects our inshore and shell-fishermen along with important nursery grounds.
Worst of all the EU will be free to fully enforce the ill-founded discard ban. Discards are caused by strict EU quotas – rather than address the quota cause the EU will ban the discard symptom.
As of 2019 vessels have to tie up on exhausting their meagrest quota – bankrupting most of Britain’s fleet. The EU can then use international law (UNCLOS 62.2) to claim the ‘surplus’ of our resources we could no longer catch.
Combine the long transition, the government handing the EU a market vs access negotiating lever and the Future Relationship agreement to be ratified and the situation is disastrous.
MINISTERS MUST RESIGN AND MPs MUST WRITE LETTERS
This runs coach and horses through all ministerial and white paper promises. It directly tramps all over Scots Tory demands and promises that markets and access wouldn’t be linked; the CFP wouldn’t continue past 2020; that the UK would be completely free thereafter and not bound to any form of quota and access share agreement.
If Mr Gove, Mr Eustice and Mr Mundell wish to have any political credibility then they must resign and hand in letters of no confidence.
If Scots Tory MPs don’t want to be electorally obliterated leading to another independence referendum, they must honour their pledge by also submitting letters of no confidence.
Sycophantic failure to do so to protect the Worst deal and PM in history will be no defence against an electorate who now see through Mrs May's double speak of Brexit In Name Only where the UK unforgivably is surrendered to becoming a vassal state.

 UN GLOBAL COMPACT FOR
"SAFE, ORDERLY AND REGULAR MIGRATION"
By Janice Atkinson MEP
for Brexit Facts4EU.Org readers

© Janice Atkinson MEP / UN
BREXIT FACTS4EU.ORG PREAMBLE
If you thought Theresa May’s ‘deal’ with the EU is bad, wait until you see what she plans to sign the UK up to on 10-11 December.
This is the time when leaders will gather in Marrakech, Morocco, to sign a ‘Compact’ which has enormous ramifications on the passage of peoples from third world countries to the West, including the UK.
Janice Atkinson, a British MEP who is part of the ENF Group in the EU Parliament, summarises the implications of this new deal in the following article, exclusively for Brexit Facts4EU.Org.
1. WHEN AND WHERE IT WAS DREAMT UP AND HISTORY OF PASSAGE
In September 2016 the General Assembly decided, through the adoption of the New York Declaration for Refugees and Migrants, to develop a global compact for safe, orderly and regular migration.
The process to develop this global compact started in April 2017. The pages in this section detail 18 months of consultation and negotiation, and provide the relevant documentation for each of the events.
On 13 July 2018 UN Member States finalized the text for the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration
2. DATE AND PLACE OF RATIFICATION
The Intergovernmental Conference to Adopt the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration will be held on 10 – 11 December, 2018 in Marrakech, Morocco.
3. MAIN IMPLICATIONS:
  • UN unelected, unaccountable to citizens
  • Reference to international law, derogation of national sovereignty (“Upholds states` obligations under international law” - There are numerous references to `international law`, international control, which has become code for derogation of national sovereignty.
  • Technically non-legally binding, but paving the way for a binding legislation
  • Facilitates illegality
  • No implementation plans - “wish list”
  • No plans of financing - what cuts will need to be made
  • No limit to numbers of migrants allowed in
  • Absolutely no data on costs of resources, screening, housing, trainings
  • Not real management, more like undergoing it
There are 23 objectives of which here are some of the more critical ones:
Objective 5. “Expand and diversify availability of pathways for regular migration”
In other words, illegal migration is reduced by creating more legal pathways - the migration remains the same but is now labelled “legal” instead of “illegal”.
Objective 5. “Develop... practices for admission and stay... of migrants leaving their countries of origin due to natural disasters or “other precarious situations”, while return to their own country is not possible. Facilitate access to procedures for family reunification.”
This objective asks of states to provide protection for economic migrants and climate migrants and in effect broadens the scope of international protection obligations traditionally limited to a “refugee”, which has a very specific definition.
Implications:
  • Conflation of migrants not refugees --> blurring the line, legalizing migration
  • Accelerates climate change - overpopulation and overexploitation of resources in such a geographically disproportionate way
Objective 7. “Respond to the needs of vulnerable migrants by protecting human rights.”
Key here is the fact that states commit to upholding the best interests of the child at all times, and the best interests of the child should always be the primary consideration.
It will almost always be in the best interests of any child to remain in a functioning European state. It follows that this will result in family reunification.
Implications:
  • The “rights” of children of “migrants” to full welfare and education benefits, food, housing, and more. Naturally, we must also provide, it declares, “health care, including sexual and reproductive health.”
  • “We are determined to ensure that all children are receiving education within a few months of arrival, and we will prioritize budgetary provision to facilitate this, including support for host countries as required.
Objective 8. “States commit to cooperate to save lives and prevent migrant deaths, to develop procedures on search and rescue of migrants, and to ensure that the provision of humanitarian assistance for migrants is not considered unlawful.”
i.e. Protection of NGO rescue missions.
Objective 17. “States commit to eliminate all forms of discrimination, racism, violence, xenophobia and related intolerance against all migrants.”
“To realize these objectives, states commit to enact or maintain legislation that penalizes hate crimes targeting migrants and to promote independent, objective and quality reporting of media outlets and by stopping the allocation of public funding to media outlets that promote intolerance, xenophobia, and racism, in full respect for the freedom of the media.”
Stopping funding and full respect of free speech - Blatant contradiction!!!
“Including in the context of electoral campaigns”!!!
Implication:
Extension of the definition of hate speech - criminalize `migration speech`, so criticism of migration will become a criminal defence and media outlets that give a platform for the so-called criticism can be shut down --> a coup d` Etat of pro-migrant, liberal globalists
Objective 20. “Promote faster, safer and cheaper transfer of remittances and foster financial inclusion of migrants.”
4. WHAT IS UK'S POSITION
The UK has not indicated any concerns so far.
5. WHO HAS REFUSED TO SIGN AND WHY
© Janice Atkinson MEP
US under Trump, Hungary, Austria, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Poland “very-likely” not to sign, Australia indicated no to sign (seen as surrendering sovereignty), Israel (see attached map)
Reasons:
  • Recognition of human right to migration (“refugees and migrants are entitled to the same universal human rights and fundamental freedoms, which must be respected, protected and fulfilled at all times”)
  • Blurring the line between legal and illegal migration
  • “Austria`s sovereignty is of highest priority and we will protect it.” Heinz-Christian Strache
6. OTHER
  • 78% of Europeans citizens want tighter control of external borders
  • 70% believe growing Muslin population is real concern and threat
  • Each migrant in Dutch society costs 1 150 000 USD
  • Germany: migration cost 86 bn USD in 2016 over 4 years
  • 12 Germans have to pay taxes to fund one migrant
  • 4.2 bn EUR spent in Italy in 2017, 1/7 of total budget of Italy
  • UK immigrants cost 120 bn GBP over 17 years

Message: The UN is yet another body, started with the best of intentions as a co-operative, but which has become bloated and corrupt. How else would Saudi Arabia be appointed lead on women's rights in the 'Commission on the Status of Women'? The unelected there see themselves as the World Government. This pact is part of their 2030 plan, the renamed Agenda 21, a terrifying future for everyone.
This plan legalises the illegal, from migration and the NGO trafficking ships to the foreign funded 'assistance' to illegals. There are no limits on numbers and is a replacement agenda. It takes no account of the impact on receiving countries' infrastructure, culture or ability to cope, neatly wrapping it as a 'human right'. Despite the assertion that countries can follow their own laws, we all know where this will lead.
I had thought that May was hanging on to sign this pact but see from Slovakia that “The global compact will be passed as a concluding document of the conference. The conference agenda says that the document will be passed without vote – by consensus. There will be no negotiation. Participating delegations won’t be signing anything. Hence, the document will be approved in any case because the overwhelming majority of countries support it,” he added. (Chief of Slovak diplomacy Miroslav Lajcak) http://newsnow.tasr.sk/policy/foreign-affairs-committee-rejects-un-pact-on-migration/
Additional countries to the list not attending/not accepting this currently include Croatia, Slovenia, Slovakia and Israel. https://en.news-front.info/2018/11/14/un-pact-on-migration-splits-balkan-states/
Switzerland wants a Parliamentary debate on it before deciding. https://www.citynews1130.com/2018/11/21/switzerland-delays-final-decision-on-un-migration-pact/ It is difficult to see how the EU, which is not a country, and wishes to implement this when (so far) 8 of its members have withdrawn consent.
We, of course, are trapped in the May-tricks world, where a foreign policy which has significant ramifications for our country and control of our borders does not appear to be worthy of a full debate in the House nor mentions in the msm. Anyone might think that we don't live in a democracy...oh!
DO SOMETHING IMPORTANT FOR YOUR COUNTRY TODAY
SEND A QUICK LETTER TO YOUR MP
© Parliament
Theresa May is on the verge of foisting an abject surrender and humiliation on the people of the United Kingdom.
Her Withdrawal Treaty with the EU is a shocker, an abomination, and must be stopped. This deal is so bad it is scarcely credible to us that a British Prime Minister could even consider it, let alone be promoting it with all the weight of her office.
It is also a sad fact that the majority of Conservative MPs still – apparently - have confidence in her leadership. We find this deplorable. The future of our country is at stake here, for goodness’ sake.
FIGHT BACK TODAY
Many of our readers have already sent letters, but we need tens of thousands more people to do this. The time for niceties is over. The top priority is to tell Conservative MPs that they must act to oust Theresa May now, not in another two weeks when the ‘meaningful debate’ will take place in the Commons.
The PM should have been ousted immediately after the publication of the Chequers Plan in July. Instead, the MPs went off on their summer holidays.
TWO SAMPLE LETTERS – OR WRITE YOUR OWN
Below are two sample letters you could print off now. All you have to do is fill out your details and go to the postbox. Or – even better, you could write your own short letter.
  • Priority No.1 is the letter to Tory MPs on the left. This tells them to chuck Theresa.

Message: I think think the best journalist reporting on Brexit is Quentin Letts. Perhaps he is a leaver or just an honest newspaperman. He drives a coach and horses through what the PM says and then does. Mrs May coughed up thanks to Miss McVey for her ministerial work and said: ‘I can give her the assurance that the United Kingdom will leave the European Union on March 29, 2019.’
Hold that assurance in your minds one moment, please. Copy it with your computer mice. Now let me briefly take you to something Mrs May had said a few minutes earlier, in response to Jeremy Corbyn. Mrs May, replying to Mr Corbyn, said that if MPs did not vote for her Withdrawal Agreement, ‘it will either be more uncertainty and more division or it could risk no Brexit at all’.
Ladies and gentlemen of the jury, there we have it. Exhibit A: Mrs May tells Mr Corbyn there could be ‘no Brexit at all’. Exhibit B: Mrs May tells Esther McVey that we are definitely leaving the EU next March 29.
She says one thing. Says another. Expects us to believe both. While she herself probably believes neither. You can see how she has driven the whole country to the brink of alcoholism.
The big question, can anyone in all seriousness trust a word May says?

 IS THIS A DONE DEAL?
WHY MAY MUSTN’T CONSTANTLY OBEY THE EU
Spain Says One Thing, The Irish Another, As Splits Appear
PRO-BREXIT FACTS4EU.ORG SUMMARY
EU'S FACADE OF UNITY BETRAYS MAY
  • Yesterday Spain said it would vote against the Withdrawal Treaty, nothing was yet agreed
  • Ireland said that the deal is now set in stone
  • Clearly they can't both be right
  • Yet May always takes the EU's instructions as being immovable
GIBRALTAR AND THE SPANISH
It is the case that the Withdrawal Treaty already cedes elements of sovereignty to Spain over the British territory of Gibraltar. Given that Gibraltar has always been the subject of bilateral arrangements between the UK and Spain, readers might want to ask why these concessions by Theresa May appear in a Treaty between the UK and the EU.
Now the Spanish want more. Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez said yesterday that neither the 585-page Withdrawal Treaty nor the 7-page Future Relationship document had clarified a fundamental point for Spain, that “Gibraltar is not part of the UK”.
He added, crucially: “As it stands, the [Spanish] government will vote against the Brexit agreement.”
Not a done deal then.
SPANISH WILL NOT VETO SCOTLAND JOINING EU AS INDEPENDENT COUNTRY
Helpfully, the Spanish government have now indicated that would no longer veto an application by Scotland as an independent country from joining the EU.
This has given Nicola Sturgeon a propaganda victory of sorts, although the Spanish made clear they would only accept Scotland if it separated from the UK via a Referendum approved of by the British government.
The Spanish are in an impossible position here, given their refusal to accept the result of the Catalan referendum and their appallingly brutal and dictatorial behaviour towards their own people, politicians, and journalists in that region following that vote. The EU has yet to condemn this behaviour in any way.
AND WHAT OF THE ANTI-BRITISH GOVERNMENT OF IRELAND?
Meanwhile the anti-British government of the Republic of Ireland took the opposite stance. Here is their Foreign Minister Simon Coveney speaking to their parliament yesterday:
“This is a text that has been agreed between the negotiations teams, it has been agreed by the British government.
“So to that extent, it is not a draft text, it is now the text, and it is not going to be reopened.”
Clearly the Irish believe the deal to be final.
OBSERVATIONS
THE FALLACY OF THERESA’S “BRUSSELS SAYS NO” ARGUMENT
Theresa May has repeatedly told Parliament that the Withdrawal Treaty is the best on offer. Her government has told us on various occasions that they asked for something but the EU gave an unequivocal ‘no’.
In the past readers may have felt that Mrs May was doing the best she could. It has now become clear that meekly accepting the EU’s position on something was not due to incompetence but as part of the plan to keep the UK tied into the EU.
The simple fact is that the EU makes proclamations all the time, but over and over again we see these subsequently being amended beyond all recognition.
Look at the Schengen Zone – a shambles, with borders having sprung up between many EU member states. The EU can no longer even pretend that the emergency provisions of the codes on Schengen are being used. These have now been renewed so many times that this is a nonsense.
Or look at their much-vaunted migrant policy for quotas of migrants being settled in all member states. At the latest Summit they still couldn’t agree a revised plan, after more than two years of trying.
In the meantime of course they are taking any ‘populist’ country to the ECJ and are threatening to remove voting rights and to stop disbursement of funds.
IN SHORT
In short, in all the time we have been monitoring the EU, they regularly say something, make it sound immovable, and then move on it.
Any half-decent Brexit negotiator would know that and ignore the EU’s red lines. The reason Theresa hasn’t is because she is clearly happy to deny people the Brexit they voted for in 2016.
The woman's a menace. She must go now.

Message: Hi. There's another aspect to this - could the EU and May just be stage-managing these apparent difficulties to show that the EU have actually given something up they really wanted so May can sell the pathetic "agreement" more easily back in the UK...? It's a surprise that we have heard nothing about Spain's objections until Raab and others have quite rightly said the EU have given up nothing and they have merely dictated the terms to May.
 THERESA, YOU PROMISED TO BE
ROCK-SOLID ON GIBRALTAR
Last year’s National Day celebrations in Gibraltar had particular significance, as the people marked 50 years since the historic referendum in 1967 when they voted by 99.64% to 0.36% to stay British.
In the main Casemates Square not a single EU flag was anywhere to be seen, as the crowd waved Union Jacks and the flag of Gibraltar.
PRIME MINISTER JOINED ON THE BIG SCREEN
Mrs May put in an appearance at Gibraltar's celebrations to mark 50 years since its referendum on remaining with the UK, but only by video screen. Nevertheless she was cheered by the large crowd, as she declared:

“We will resolutely safeguard Gibraltar, its people and its economy and Gibraltar will remain British for as long as it chooses to do so.”

BACKGROUND
Gibraltar has been British for 305 years, since the Treaty of Utrecht when Spain ceded Gibraltar to Britain in perpetuity.
10th September is Gibraltar’s National Day, designated to commemorate an historic referendum on that day 51 years ago when the Gibraltarians declared to the World – and particularly to the Spanish – that the people of the Rock were British and wished to stay that way. 99.6% voted to stay British.
GIBRALTARIANS NOW “FAR MORE POSITIVE” ABOUT BREXIT, THEIR MEP TOLD US
Vigilance is nevertheless required against possible EU future actions
Last year we asked UKIP MEP for Gibraltar (and South West England) Dr Julia Reid how she saw the current mood amongst Gibraltarians about Brexit, bearing in mind that they produced the highest Remain vote of all in last year's EU Referendum.

Dr Reid told us: "I was so pleased to find that the mood in Gibraltar is far more positive now than it was this time last year, which was only three months after the EU Referendum when 96% of Gibraltarians voted to remain in the EU. Fears that the BREXIT vote would immediately be bad for their economy have been unfounded, as were similar fears that were forecast for the UK economy."
After the celebrations Dr Reid said: "It was heart-warming to hear the Chief Minister, Fabian Picardo, say, that as Britain had voted to leave the EU then Gibraltar would be leaving with her and remaining part of the UK family. Fifty years ago the Referendum Generation worked hard to make their decision to remain British a success for future generations and the BREXIT Generation would do the same."
SPAIN’S VETO ON BREXIT DEAL
One of the typical actions of the EU hierarchy as they were starting to put their Brexit ‘positions’ together was to declare Gibraltar as a special case.
Alone amongst all EU27 countries, Spain was given a unique veto by the EU over the terms of the UK’s future Brexit deal. Quite why this was done remains a mystery. There are many EU member states which could lay claim to having a ‘special interest’ in Brexit.
Nevertheless, Spain’s veto is a fact. Here is what the EU Council’s official Brexit negotiating guidelines say:
“After the United Kingdom leaves the Union, no agreement between the EU and the United Kingdom may apply to the territory of Gibraltar without the agreement between the Kingdom of Spain and the United Kingdom.”
KING FELIPE CLAIMING GIBRALTAR, SEPTEMBER 2016
King Felipe is Spain’s ruling monarch since the abdication of his father.
The British Foreign Office might have viewed it as highly regrettable to say the least that King Felipe tried to assert Spain’s right to the British territory of Gibraltar, when he addressed the United Nations General Assembly on 20th Sept 2016.
“I invite the UK, on this first occasion at the UN after Brexit, to end the colonial anachronism of Gibraltar with an agreed solution between both countries to restore the territorial integrity of Spain and bring benefits to the people of Gibraltar and the Spanish area of Campo de Gibraltar.”
- King Felipe VI, UN General Assembly, New York, 20 Sept 2016
SPAIN...
British tourists spent £6.5 billion in Spain in 2015. British residents prop up the property market in large parts of southern and eastern Spain, and British supermarkets are vital to the incomes of Spanish farmers. We mention these facts purely to counteract the 'doing-down' of the UK which we see and hear on a daily basis in the media. The simple facts are that it is to Spain's advantage to enjoy friendly and cooperative relations with the UK post-Brexit.
UNFRIENDLY ACTS BY EU ALLY
It is another unfortunate fact that the state vessels of an EU member state and NATO ally (Spain) are illegally and repeatedly infringing into British territorial waters. This happens on a daily basis. Complaints have been made via national as well as EU channels but the illegal incursions continue.
STRATEGIC LOCATION
Gibraltar is a British Overseas Territory. It has an area of 6.7 km2 (2.6 sq mi) and shares its northern border with Spain. Crucially Gibraltar has geographical and therefore strategic significance, with a large British naval base and an airport used by both civilian airlines and by the RAF.
Appropriately perhaps, Gibraltar was showing off its strategic importance during the National Day celebrations. The runway at RAF Gibraltar was busy with aircraft carrying supplies to be picked up by HMS Ocean, bound for the Caribbean to deliver humanitarian aid to British Overseas Territories hit by Hurricane Irma.
COOPERATION ON SECURITY, ANYONE?
One further aspect of Gibraltar’s military and strategic significance is worth mentioning. Gibraltar is home to a location of UKSIGINT – the network of signal interception stations all around the world. This network is part of what makes the UK a leader in the global western intelligence community, and yet another reason that the EU wants to retain its full intelligence cooperation with the UK, regardless of Brexit.
OBSERVATIONS
FINALLY, AN INTERESTING AND POSITIVE POSTSCRIPT
Last year, the Gibraltar government announced the introduction of its new, paperless, electronic customs system.
Why is this significant?
Well, how many times have you been told that Brexit will result in chaos at our borders? Anyone would think that no countries in the world are able to clear goods for customs purposes as they cross their borders, unless they’re part of the EU.
Yes, there are of course some complications in relation to the N.I. border, but these can be solved with some goodwill and intelligence.
Now we have the British Overseas Territory of Gibraltar demonstrating just how such a scheme can work. We wish Gibraltar well with this, and with its next 50 years of successful overseas Britishness!
Can you please help fund our work? We rely 100% on small voluntary contributions, which means we barely make it from one week to the next. We really could use your help in working for a clean and true Brexit.
