Scarcely a day goes by without some pronouncement by a Government Minister about 're-setting the relationship' or 'closer alignment'. 'Is Starmer stealing back your Brexit by stealth?'

“There now seems to be a clear agenda from the new Government to take us back, piece-by-piece, into the EU’s orbit and control. We already had unfinished Brexit business – specifically the repealing of all EU laws, which was promised by the end of last year, and returning full sovereignty of Northern Ireland to the UK.
“There remain many other issues of course, such as returning the full control of British territorial waters to our fishermen and the restoration of our coastal communities, as well as ensuring the complete independence of British security and defence policies, the insistence that the EU take back its illegal migrants, and that the UK government resiles from the ECHR.
“The Facts4EU.Org team has worked tirelessly for nine years but now those who remain must mount an appeal for your help. In the immortal words of ‘the Blues Brothers’, we need to “put the band back together again”. Those who have had to leave us to focus on fee-earning work will come back if we could offer them something. The pro-EU forces have raised over £5 million – mostly from a foreign billionaire. Because we are ‘lean and mean’ we need less than 10% of this to fight to keep the UK out of the EU and flourishing as an independent country.
“Today I appeal to you to dig deep. Every few pounds will help us to reach our target of £300,000. This is what we estimate we need to take on the opposition and to prevent the overturning of the largest democratic vote in British history.
“I have faith in the British people. As you have seen above, our work is now very widely seen. I really hope you can help us to continue the fight.”

Labour have been very undemocratic throughout the Brexit years. They have demonstrated that they will do anything to prevent us from leaving the EU. Sadly and shamefully they are now in power and are enacting their will to return to the EU as far as possible. We won't stand for it. Everyone is watching. Reform uk are a savior as they are in parliament with their finger on the pulse.
Labour are doing all the wrong things, as expected.

Will 'the markets' let Starmer get back into the EU via the backdoor or will they push him out of office like they did with Truss and Kwarteng.

After all - as Truss and Kwartang discovered, it's not the electorate at the ballot box who decide who rules Westminster but 'the markets'?

Can I suggest that when I say "it's not the electorate at the ballot box who decide who rules Westminster but 'the markets'?" it does again highlight the lack of democracy in UK politics because you then have a party that gets elected (with a minority vote !) on one manifesto and when in power follows another, almost reverse, agenda.

Reminds me of my oft quoted post, "The hypocrisy of the election manifesto speeches, where they spout the historic words that they will meet everyone's needs, security and prosperity along with eradicating past mis-justices, learn the lessons, that in reality will be the antithesis and the gullible of the electorate believe it - and no one held accountable.
In evidence: Grenfall, Cannot look after our forces who come back scarred and injured, Hilsborough, Waspies, Post Office, Hemophiliacs, Grooming gangs, Covid, Windrush ,etal.....

How will Starmer square the fact that the USA might want a trade deal to pull the UK away from the EU but Starmer wants an idealogical socialist integration with the EU? What will win - trade or idealism? That issue will be a true test.

Why does the UK (or any other nation) need another level of corruption and malfeasance above that which the UK has already?

Labour will do anything to be closer to the EU. They are a militant ideological outfit of the far left. Its no problem to them if the economy suffers, they really don't care.
Here's hoping they don't get it all their way and America and the markets stump them at the post.

Getting rid of Starmers Government should be the goal of everyone who wants to live in a free prosperous and Sovereign Country the UK should have nothing to do with the EU again whatsoever the UK should completely redraw it's democratic system with a Written Constitution and become a Federal Republic monarchy is a serf system who doesn't belong in the modern World, We must be separate from the US and EU We cannot ignore them but We should be independent

Last nights Mansion House speech sent out a clear and correct direction, rebuilding relations with the EU. UK Trade with the EU is significantly greater than with the USA but USA trade has grown at a faster rate in recent years because of the friction for UK/EU trade caused by Brexit.

Waiting for a possible trade deal with the USA (which was promised 8 years ago) is a waste of time. Trump is a deal maker, he will want any trade deal to favour the USA and as has been clearly demonstrated by Brexit, UK politicians are not up to the task to bring back a favourable deal for the UK.

UK economic growth has slowed over the last quarter and in September was negative, Rishi Sunak could see this coming which is why he surprised everyone with the early election.
.
Brexit has delivered BRINO, record immigration (largest of any major economies) and a Labour Govt. Well done Brexit.

Trump is going to impose tariffs on US imports from the EU.
The EU will retaliate with import tariffs on US imports, and will complain to the WTO.
Under Labour, the UK will stand in solidarity with the EU. We will match the EU import tariffs and we'll back the EU case at the WTO.
The US will then also impose tariffs on UK imports.
We all know this is inevitable under the present leadership. The last thing they want is to gain advantage by being friendly with Trump. It's the very antithesis of their mindset.

Economists reckon the UK will avoid any major impact from Trump's tariff agenda.
Nearly 70% of our exports to the U.S. are in the form of services, and the U.S. runs a rare surplus in goods in the other direction.
"Our base case is that the UK will avoid new U.S. tariffs next year, with the UK's goods trade deficit likely placing it low on the target list" MUFG

But the EU WILL be impacted

Just to note, 16 years ago that EU and US economies were neck and neck.
Today the US economy is 50% larger than the entire EU combined.

UK exports to the EU have been over-exaggerated substantially by the "Rotterdam effect, in 2 ways.
1, UK exports to non EU destinations despatched via EU container ports being recorded as exports to the EU
2, Goods containing materials (And even manufactured) in non EU countries packaged and despatched to EU markets being classed as UK exports.
(The apparent drop in these UK exports being entirely due to their re-classification, and not in their quantity).

I understand that unemployment in Germany has already reached 2.9 million
