A Facts4EU.Org review of the 2021 Forbes magazine rankings for the Under-30s

When analysed by Bionic, the Forbes ‘30 under 30’ rankings for Europe, North America, Russia, Asia and Africa it was London that came out as the best city in the world for entrepreneurs and other achievers aged under 30 to set up a new business and prosper, become an inventor of games, a successful actress, or a world-ranked athlete.

The great news of this latest World No.1 comes on the back of recent rankings showing the United Kingdom to be the best in Europe. So far this year Facts4EU.Org has reported the following successes for :

London, New York, San Francisco, Moscow and Los Angeles all come before any EU city

Critics of Brexit have long warned of the departure of business activity, jobs, and rankings to competing EU capitals such as Frankfurt, Paris, Berlin, Amsterdam and Stockholm – but the reality has been that rather than fall away London has excelled, even during the pandemic.

One of the amazing discoveries of the survey was that many of the candidates for inclusion from North America, Asia and Russia actually live in London itself, even though their new businesses or professions are based elsewhere.

The Forbes 30 under 30 rankings looked at the 30 top regional achievers aged under 30 who had either established the most successful businesses or were recognised for notable achievements in their region.

Observations

Pop the corks again!

London has come top of another rankings list and this time it’s a World ranking run by Forbes magazine.

It’s a bit of fun, based on nominations and then consideration by the regional editors of Forbes. It is not just based on financial success but achievement in a particular nominee’s field, so British honourees have included tennis star Andy Murray, actress Emma Watson, and actor John Boyega. But for all that, countries have to be producing people of talent and achievement and the result speaks to that – and especially as many who are not British are staying in London.

So, what can we take from this? Well for starters the British media needs to recognise that the United Kingdom has not been diminished by Brexit. The UK remains and can continue to grow as an international destination to be successful and as the place to live when you have made it.

Part of Britain’s soft power is not just its financial, media, sporting and cultural strength but its opportunities and the networking that being such an open and globally-focussed country delivers.

Forget the ‘Little Englander’ smears by self-loathing critics. Britain is a place to be, indeed the place to be – so let’s tell people to make it big in Britain!
