Brexit Facts4EU.Org has analysed the international trade position for the UK over the last 10 years, using the latest figures for imports and exports of goods and services – with the EU and with the Rest of the World.

Our research shows that the EU27 have made over half a trillion pounds (£539.2 billion) in the last decade, from trading goods and services with the United Kingdom.

Conversely, when it comes to the United Kingdom’s trade with the Rest of the World, the UK’s surplus totalled over a quarter of a trillion pounds (£285.7 billion) in the last decade.

The UK’s deficit with the EU is 18 times worse than it was 10 years ago. The UK’s surplus with the rest of the world has grown by 150 times from where it was 10 years ago.

2. Annual trade deficit with the EU / annual trade surplus with the rest of the world

Last year (2019), the UK’s trade deficit with the EU was (negative) £71.6 billion
It has more than doubled from where it was in 2010 – 10 years ago
Last year the UK’s trade surplus with non-EU countries was (positive) £47.7 billion
This has grown dramatically from a small deficit in 2010, 10 years ago

Observations

Sometimes it is sufficient to let some very basic - and very stark – facts speak for themselves.

Thanks largely to our majority pro-Remain media, large swathes of the British electorate are still not aware of fundamental facts such as those we have shown so dramatically above. No-one can predict the future – as the COVID crisis has shown – and we feel it continues to be important to ram home messages like this.

However, a difficult one.
This is a civil liberties issue. We should not need to excuse ourselves in this way, to prove we have a disability to these tyrants. And does a rush for exemption cards on more minor grounds have a negative effect on people who are more severely disabled? Perhaps we should just bold it out, just refuse?
Personally: I probably do have sufficient grounds for medical exemption, and any confrontation would likely aggravate this; but I want to say 'NO' on both a civil liberties basis, and scientific/logical basis - so to get round the system through exemption is somewhat an acceptance of a system that I thoroughly reject both morally and intellectually.
A dilemma - as I have to eat.
And not one that any Government should ever impose on its citizens - to obey or starve.

Maybe this is of help to others:
I had a word with my local chemist, as I need to go into a shop to get regular medication. They are thinking of arranging a system whereby people who do not wear a mask just bang on the window and then a staff member comes outside to serve you. So do not worry on this score - they will have to arrange something.
I also understand that Tesco's is refusing to have its staff enforce this ruling on masks. (I am also having a quiet word with small shopkeepers who might like to gain my business; and will, of course, support markets and farm shops).
I am hoping that if enough people complain to their MP then there will be a U-turn before long (particularly if two-thirds of the shoppers who do not currently wear masks also refuse to go shopping, or cause trouble/disruption when they do - then the supermarkets will soon go bust).
I expect the government will then soon find that 'new' evidence does not support the use of face masks after all - and thus reverse this shameful edict.

Off topic, on Face Masks I'm one of those who cannot wear them as I'm a chronic asthmatic. This is a valid reason under Section 6 of the Equalities Act 2010.

I am increasingly getting ticked off with my local Lloyd's branch who make their virus carriers stand outside before being allowed in. We used to be called "customers". Prior to entry we are asked the purpose of our visit. Today, I was second in the queue when I was asked this question. I said I'd whisper the answer in the young ladies ear. When I was first in the queue I explained I don't like to explain my private business in ear shot of strangers.
We're not near to living in a Marxist state. We're in one.
I'm bracing myself for questions about my non mask wearing compliance next week. My answer: my health, my common sense, my morals, my faith, my civil
liberties. Take your pick.

If EU trades x billions it means it generate revenue for our own people too right? I suppose they do but I'm not an expert and reading comments looks like people here are experts in export/import & Finance.
