Originally begun in 2016 while William Dartmouth was an MEP, and worked on over the past four years, ‘Everything Brexit’ is a significant volume of work. As the author says:

“The actual Brexit debate tells us very little. That debate was - and has always been - long on emotion and short on facts. This free book aims to set out – in over 80 essential tables, charts and graphs, as well as photographs and text – what underlies Brexit, what drove it, and why the Brexit earthquake came about.”

The Brexit Facts4EU.Org team assisted in some aspects of this work and we’re happy to provide a platform to promote it. Please note that this is strictly a not-for-profit book. The author simply wants as many people as possible to have access to the book and the facts it contains.

Relevance to the Brexit trade talks

This book, with its powerful content about Brexit and UK-EU relations, is coming out at a very interesting time. On Thursday 13 August the UK’s Chief Negotiator, David Frost, made the following statement:-

“Looking forward to going to Brussels next week for Round 7 (sic) of the UK/EU negotiations with the EU Commission and Michel Barnier. As always, we go in good faith to talk constructively about all the issues. Our assessment is that agreement can be reached in September and we will work to achieve this if we can.
“As we keep saying, we are not looking for a special or unique agreement. We want a deal with, at its core, an FTA like those the EU has agreed with other friendly countries, like Canada.
“The UK's sovereignty, over our laws, our courts, or our fishing waters, is of course not up for discussion and we will not accept anything which compromises it - just as we aren't looking for anything which threatens the integrity of the EU’s single market.”

As a Coordinator (Ranking Member) of the EU Parliament’s International Trade Committee for 10 years (2009 - 2019) William Dartmouth is in a special position to write about trade and relations generally between the UK and the EU, post-Brexit.

About the author

William Dartmouth had a ringside seat on Brexit for the crucial decade up to 2019 as an elected Member of the European Parliament; almost all that time as a Group Coordinator (in US parlance “ranking member”) on the European Parliament’s Committee for International Trade.

As an MEP he represented the people of the South West Counties and Gibraltar 2009-2019. He is a Chartered Accountant and holds a post-graduate degree in business from Harvard University.

I have only read the first section of the first chapter (Our 'influence') so far, but the style is easy to read, i.e. people's eyes will not glaze over, & the charts have the intended impact - emphasising the writing & packing a huge wallop of fact.
Well done to all of you. Now I must get back to the book...

The book needs to be available offline. It is too long to be read in a browser or be accessible only connected to the interner. An epub or pdf version please.

And I hope Brexit4EU Team that you are planning your own book. After all, your work is a testament to you all and, crucially, would be a permanent record of all the unbelievably sordid twists and turns some of our own politicians and foreign 'allies' tried to inflict by trying by all manner of lies and subterfuge to deny our democratically won vote to Leave the EU. Future British generations must know about the attempts by foreign leaders, our so-called 'allies', to shackle us to their whims, and squeeze us economonically dry, even on such a Nation as us that has been incredibly generous and forgiving. No more must we fall for the tricks of others. And a permanent record in hard copies of your Facts is just what we need on our own bookshelves, Universities' curriculums on Politics, and in the Parliamentary Library! Keep it alive, to prevent future abominations. Knowledge IS Power.

This was a very illuminating piece of writing and well worth reading. Thank you. Just for information and not a criticism .. there is text repetition on page 218....2nd, 3rd and 4th paragraphs are repeated.

These are all facts never published by the UK Media. It is doubtful they were known or were ever considered by the Pro-EU Political Parties, the BBC and the CBI.
I voted to leave on the strength of Cameron's Bloomburg speech, his failure to make any reforms to the EU in February 2016. He got nothing and gave away what he already had. He then ably assisted by Hammond tried to pull the wool over the eyes of the British Public.
"As David Cameron steps up his efforts to persuade voters to vote to remain in the EU at the 23 June referendum, No 10 announced it would spend 34p per household (£9 million) on the booklets, which bear the government crest".
Surprisingly he narrowly failed. Ever since the BBC keep waking up - Gordon Brown (Lisbon), John Major (Maastricht), Michael Heseltine and the arch Federalist Kenneth Clarke.
Importantly Coronavirus makes the need for Business to keep trading Internationally essential.
