John Redwood - on an exit on WTO terms

(There are decent MPs who respect the Referendum vote)

Yesterday Brexit Facts4EU.Org sought the views of the Rt Hon John Redwood MP.

Dr Redwood is a stalwart advocate of Brexit as the right thing for the country. He remains a positive force in explaining the advantages of leaving the EU on 29 March in the way people voted for in the Referendum.

Here is what he told us yesterday:-

“Parliament is on trial.

“Parliament should keep its promise to voters to implement the decision of the people in the referendum to leave the EU.

“The UK conducts the majority of its trade under WTO rules and outside the EU customs union. Moving to run all our trade in that way will work just fine.

“I look forward to more people setting out the advantages of the UK deciding its own trade policy and setting its own tariff levels in the interests of UK consumers and producers. The current EU tariffs are too high and on some of the wrong things.”

Dr Redwood voted against the Withdrawal Agreement yesterday.

John Redwood is a solid and bright MP, which nowadays seems to be as rare as hens' teeth.
His brain could power - probably even in energy saving or stand by mode - about half the current Cabinet, including the PM herself.

I concur with 'James K'. Dr John Redwood MP [now Sir John] is one of the few MPs we can rely on to make clear and positive arguments about our exit from the EU. I signed up to his site long ago and receive his daily blogs via email which is helpful detail mainstream media choose to avoid much of the time. I recommend his blogs, though one needs to remember for much of the time they are his personal views to assist his constituents.
Facts4U.org is my goto site for official FACTS - (remember remainiacs shouted on a daily basis they wanted facts) - they just can't handle it when they get facts under their nose - they have no answer. I can honestly state when using these facts I have never once been challenged and that reason is simple - official facts are official facts.

Along with your own brilliant efforts here, reading Dr (and now, Sir) John Redwood's blog is for me a daily dose of sanity and reason. I quite agree with James K's comment above, and if only we had more MPs with JR's level of intellect and sense of public duty we could at least regain our respect for parliament as an institution.
If parliament causes us to end up staying in the EU in one guise or another, parliament will have chosen to sideline itself instead of "taking back control." Therefore along with wholesale reform of the House of Lords (long overdue anyway) a very much smaller House of Commons could carry on rubber-stamping EU legislation perfectly well and save us all a lot of money.
In spite of my own small efforts, my MP still voted for the WA: I imagine he calculates that with his large majority his seat is safe, although he is a Remainer and the constituency voted Leave. "Accountability" is a concept that will weigh more effectively on MPs with smaller majorities, as has been pointed out in your excellent content many times, so perhaps they are some of the keys to unlocking the current situation. In any event, the next General Election should be very interesting- hopefully there may be a better turn-out than in recent years, which I would think is in itself one good outcome.
