WHAT YOU CAN DO TODAY TO DEFEND BREXIT

(Shouting at the TV politics shows this morning won't achieve much!)

As someone once said, don't get mad, get even. Here is what you could do today if you want to see a true, clean Brexit delivered on 29 March.

Send a letter to your MP – bulging mailbags with thousands of letters are impossible to ignore
Find out when your MP is holding a surgery – Go and speak to them in person
Visit your MP’s constituency office, or at the very least call them
Only when you have done some of the above should you send your MP an email
Tell the media whenever you feel their reporting is biased
Donate today to our #GoWTO campaign, so millions more can see this appeal

It now costs us just 0.5p to make our messages visible to people using our #GoWTO social media campaign. So for a new budget of £10,000, our #GoWTO World Trade Brexit message would be seen 2 million times, all other things being equal.

Four letters posted on Friday to our MP, Richard Burgon, from my father, my brother, my sister-in-law and me.
We must push back.

Well done, Peter.
The first priority is to influence your MP, so write them a letter. If you've already sent one, send another on a slightly different angle. If you receive a reply, then reply back, making it clear why you are unhappy with your MP's response.
Here are two more ideas:
a) write a letter to the local Party Chairman for the MP's constituency. For example, I began my letter 'You are no doubt concerned as to how Anne Milton is performing, the long-term damage to the Conservative party she is causing, the resultant loss of funding, membership and number of activists. No doubt you will see the first signs of a backlash against the Tories in the upcoming Local Elections.' Then continue....
b) Write a neutral letter to your local paper to encourage a wide selection of candidates to stand at the local elections. Indirectly, between the lines, you are trying to stop the 3 main parties winning seats by default, through lack of an alternative choice; and saying to the voters don't vote for the sitting MP, there should be better choices. The Surrey Advertiser printed my email: 'Local elections: It is far healthier for democracy if voters have a diverse choice of candidate. Borough council and parish council elections will be held on May 2 in Surrey's 11 districts. You can stand as an Independent , or as a party candidate (with their permission). Your nomination papers have to be in by April 3rd. There is no deposit to pay, no need for an election agent, no need for your address to be on the ballot paper. You need 10 supporters, and you serve for 4 years. More information is on the Electoral Commission website, and on the various borough council websites under 'How to become a Councillor' - or just contact them directly. Interested? Then good luck.'
