The EU has a £419 billion fund called ESIF

The UK will receive just 3.6% of it

When it comes to an EU fund of £419 billion, we’re inclined to ask readers to sit back and think for a moment. This isn’t just another figure. It’s £419 BILLION POUNDS. In our book, that’s a lot of money. Put another way, it’s £419,099,453,077.

This is the size of the ESI Fund for the current accounting period of 2014-2020. This is just one of the things which Remain MPs apparently want the British public to stay part of.

Also relevant is the fact that in addition to our contributions we seem to get landed with " supplementary" payments just because our economy is doing well. Unless I'm wrong & do correct me if so, I recall UKP 1.7 bn on Mr Cameron's watch in 2016. We balked but paid no doubt & then I seem to recall another approx. UKP 2bn over a more recent period of 12 months plus. Still, nice to know that on those occasions we don't seem to have made " Insufficient Progress"

kzb: Thanks for comment. No, this was not in relation to the headline figures, which merely prompted me to recall what I had read / observed from past media reports where it seemed that in addition to our formal, agreed annual contributions, there were instances where UK had been presented with additional amounts due to the success of our economy during the periods concerned. If off topic or if not factual I stand corrected. Like millions of others I am always receptive to facts that offer greater clarity. And that is certainly needed at present.

Adam: It's not looking rich from my perspective. Half the shops and pubs are closed down. 3rd world queues for NHS services, people sleeping in the streets.

Diane (post #6): Yes I have vague memories of these payments. I was hoping you could point us to evidence for them. It's possible these were "corrections", and they were included in our reported EU contributions for that year. But we can't be sure in this murky world. A lot of information actually gets lost. For example I recall there were redundancies for NHS nurses only a few years ago, but I can't find it on Google now.

As I have always said, the EU is largest scam in British history. So when the protesters by Parliament next want GP or hospital appointments, and when people groan about the state of UK roads and footways, and when people groan about the ever increasing Council Tax... the list is endless? I want remoaners to think about this one fund of £419 billion, and understand the UK is presently the second highest contributor to anything called EU, over which we have no control.
Remember also when you want your bins next emptying and think about why all the money we send the EU (or they take) could be better spent on our local authorities, whose funding has been cut to the bone?
The fact is remoaners have no serious argument, and MPs trying to subvert Brexit should be thrown out of Parliament on the ground they're ignoring the largest vote in British history on a very high turnout. Those MPs should be ashamed of themselves, including members of the Welsh Assembly trying to subvert Brexit.
